That's actually a really good question that has me stuck deciding it. I'm going based on the average's for both ki and the Force. With the Force unless your some kind of prodigy you need a proper teacher to truly unlock your potential. With Ki you have a bit more leeway in regards to self instruction. The Force is more versatile but it requires a few good years of training to truly master. With Ki you grow weaker if you don't train your body for a long period of time. Once more you have a good chance straight up going crazy through accidental usages or ventures in the dark side, while Ki doesn't have that weakness.
Roshi was 300 when we first saw him and spent 50 years inventing the Kamehameha. So Videl probably has exceptional gene's, otherwise i don't know how Roshi was the best. Also Tien is a descendant of a aliens and is about 95% human, since he was the greatest student at his school it's suspicious that he's part alien, and also Krilin only got so strong by training with Goku. I think DBS vs DBGT Goku by Hyorinjutsu captures this concept of power vs strategy pretty well.
Okay so here's the thing right. When, as you said, this angel gives you the ability to use either force or ki. Do they also give you the ability to that in yourself? Because for some people, it doesn't matter what they choose if their don't have enough talent. They could choose either but because they lack the talent for using it they can't do anything. But if the angel does give you that ability to inherently sense it in yourself. At least you have a starting point, in which case. It becomes of question of Power vs Practice. Equal training and talent with the force compared to ki will make you more powerful. But Ki will make you a lot more versatile. This is because of the imagination component. Because the force is a mostly invisible energy, many things you could do with it require a very active imagination. On the other hand, ki when projected has a color and a substance to it. For instance. Need to fight someone equally powerful as you who has a sword? Most people with the force would likely end up trying to disarm the opponent or fight from a distance. But with Ki you could go. "Oh you have a sword?" *generates ki blade from their arm* "Neat, now I do too!" Ya get what I'm saying?
They're both near worthless because there's no masters to teach you how to use them. Force at least applies subconsciously even if you're not aware of it so I'd probably take that. Those powers were built of decades / generations of knowledge to use in a practical sense.
Ki is so versatile, but so much of DBZ makes it seem so boring and make it seem like it is just for flying, raising their power level, and energy blasts, but the Ki is responsible for more than that. These people are tanking massive energy blasts, punches, and bullet shots, it is responsible for their enhanced speed, strength, and durability. It also enables them to do all the special powers that get so under highlighted. In the OG Dragonball Master Roshi does some cool stuff like hypnotizing people, reading minds, shooting lighting out of his hands. Chiaotzu uses ki to light people on fire, has telekinesis, give people cramps/stomach aches, and is one of the 1st to fly on screen. Commander Blue of the Red Ribbon Army is capable of paralyzing people. Oolong and Puar can transform. Goku's Instant Transmission is a done with ki. Buu's ability to turn people and object into candy is with an energy/ki beam. I have seen Kaioshins and even Kami/Piccolo make clothing and swords appear out of thin air. Guldo of the Ginyu Force could freeze time. Hit from DB Super can alter the flow of time as well. Not a hard answer for me, since The Force manipulates you. Sure, sometimes it's on your side, but that's still an outside force manipulating you for the rest of your life. On top of that, Ki's most useful abilities are _relatively_ easy to obtain, that being flight and durability. Just the health benefits alone are worth it. If nothing else, being able to actively measure my progress would help me keep the motivation to train. The Force doesn't work that way. Plus, this is all setting aside the considerable concern of the Dark Side, which Ki doesn't have that problem. While I wouldn't get much use out of a lot of what we see from Ki users, there are options that have practical use like telekinesis, flight and sensing. The Force does seem to have more immediate use, but I frankly don't trust the Force to not be manipulating me. I've got enough paranoia already, I don't need to be actively watching every notion and feeling I have for manipulation. I'd never be on Krillin's level, but that's fine for the life I live you know? Edit: Also, at least with Ki anything I do wrong is clearly my fault. I am morally responsible for what I do with it, without question. The Darkside is this (to me) annoying excuse for bad behavior, an 'out' for any irresponsible or evil things I do. If I'm going to the pit, it'll be my fault.
To me the force seems easier to train since ki is progressed mainly through physical training. Sure there is the spritual element, by the evidence shows ki is based majoritvely on the body while the force is based on the mind, at least for the basic stuff which is whats showcased in most media. Beyond that i don't need famcy energy blasts....although flight is cool, but force overall is more useful anf easier to develop in my day to day
Actually you can. There have been sith who have created super novas that destroy entire star systems. Or sith who created cosmic force storms and send them across the galaxy. The more you know about star wars which means not just watching the movies the more you will see the force is no joke. Vader wasn’t talking out his ass when he said the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force.
I like the video and the topic, but the host keeps breaking his own rules by bringing up feats the average force user will not be capable of, while ignoring the crazy stuff basically any alien race in dbz can do with Ki. The host takes for granted, that the life of a Jedi is not a linear track of being discovered, being picked as a padawan and becoming a Jedi knight. That is definitely not the case. If we're talking about averages the average Jedi never even gets picked to be a padawan, much less achieves knighthood. The vast majority of Jedi are relegated to temple guardian or chronicler of the order and never even leave coruscant. If you're thinking Kit Fisto when you think average, you need to scale that back to Jocasta Nu. Kit Fisto was a genuine badass and well above average for the order only overshadowed by the OP characters. I'm not even including Yamcha or Krillin as average for DBZ (main characters) I'm talking about the average nemekian, metamoran, yardrat, etc. The pool of force users in the star wars universe is so much smaller than the pool of Ki users in DBZ, and chances are if you've heard of that Jedi's name they are almost certainly well above the average (in universe). I'm a bigger fan of star wars than DBZ but I gotta be honest with what I know about the vastness of the star wars universe, and if you're saying I can only be an average side character I'd rather be Nail than Jocasta Nu.
Hey I appreciate the comment, I was also thinking an average ki user would be stronger than your average force user. To get to those heights has to take a long time no?
Eh, not really. The force is super useful for healing, which Ki doesnt help with. Its also helpful if you want to levitate something else and not destroy it. Its utility is not destructive but functional usually.
Clairvoyance, prescience, precognition, astral projection. Just some of things the force can do, not too mention snatch people’s bodies, creating super novas, and cheating death itself, is watered down? The force has crazy op capabilities, and wider variety of options. The force is far superior.
All of that sounds good until the rubber hits the road and you realize even Yoda ain't doing sit to someone with subsonic thought and reaction speed. at what point in the series does Ki outclass the force in every relevant way? frieza saga? androids? point is, it isn't that far along.
@@bwilson774 yes, on fighting capacity ki is definitely superior. But we are shown the force is more practical for everyday use. What is more important, the ability to kill some guy by shooting beams out of your hands or the ability to heal anyone from any disease or wound. They have to use senzu beans in dragon ball to do that. I choose the force not for power, but for practicality.
The force is crazy op, those who actually know will pick the force over ki, either way if you not a main character you can do more with force if your not the main character. The force is the energy of all things, both living and cosmic. Moreover the force has precognitive abilities which is standard among forces users. Little kids who aren’t even trained in the ways of the force can use it. At its lowest the force can grant telekinesis, precognitive abilities, other psionic abilities. Highest levels create super novas, cheating death by taking peoples bodies, absorbing the life of a entire planet, enthralling a planet, astral projecting, not too mention the various dark magics based off the force, sith sorcery, sith alchemy, night sister magicks, prescience. Everyone just goes to the jedi based religion, and their ways of using the force. But there are other cults, and religions that have crazy techniques like flow walking which is basically force based time travel, used by the yang-ti, i believe.

Here is a list of Restraining Techniques I copied off of the Dragon Ball wikia

hell yeah, thanks for these examples!
Roshi was 300 when we first saw him and spent 50 years inventing the Kamehameha.
Just about everyone except maybe Yamcha who learned it were prodigies but then again, Yamcha learned it during the years he still trained.
So inventing a technique might take a long time compared to learning it and we can't sense the characters ki when they use it, and goku firered a Kamehameha from his feet so body positioning is probably less important than most think.
Also Roshi can't even fly despite being considered the best in the world att the start, and Videl is the daughter of mister Satan whose feats in his first appearance lithearly puts him above any human, especially the pulling feat since he lacks the physice of that kind of athlete, and essentially that feat is lithearly impossible.
So Videl probably has exceptional gene's, otherwise i don't know how Roshi was the best. Also Tien is a descendant of a aliens and is about 95% human, since he was the greatest student at his school it's suspicious that he's part alien, and also Krilin only got so strong by training with Goku.
So if you suddenly got ki you wouldn't have gotten as far as you might think.
Meanwhile the force guides you by default and you just need to meditate a bit(the progress wont go away)to strengthen it and choose to let it take the wheel. The force will help you, your instincts will improve and no one ,not even the government who probably takes you if they know you have something, will know.
Another great point
Im learning instant transmission asap then never moving a muscle again
0:38 these are your examples 😂😂😂😂
Look, he already informed me they were bad examples. I don’t know about Star Wars well!
You can fly with ki you can’t fly with the force but I’d rather have both.
To me the force seems easier to train since ki is progressed mainly through physical training. Sure there is the spritual element, by the evidence shows ki is based majoritvely on the body while the force is based on the mind, at least for the basic stuff which is whats showcased in most media.
Beyond that i don't need famcy energy blasts....although flight is cool, but force overall is more useful anf easier to develop in my day to day
I can't blow up a planet with the Force.
How many planets in real life do you want to blow up?
@@sirellyn Well, I don't want Mars be colonized. So....
@@xytan335 those things only happened in the EU or a video game.
@@caprice28 indeed, doesn’t mean they don’t count, as the man in the video stated, its all star wars.
Definitely Ki, the force seems like a watered down version of what Ki does.
@@xytan335 eh it depends, the thing is ki is more about sheer power, while the force is more about variety.
Ki literally does all of that
@@ZeallustImmortal yeah but not as a nobody character.
@@xytan335 Some nobodys can get taught pretty well. Its just that its kept pretty secret.
Haki, always and forever
He knew better not to give me that option 😭
Haki is a clear attempt to copy Ki, Chakra, Nin, or Spiritual Pressure. To cope for the fact that devil fruit powers are lame.
all are a copy of the first kind of inner/vital energy that appeared in a fictional piece.
about your classic op hater take about devil fruits (which i didn't mention), their wackiness is intentional
As a Geek I don’t want to be that guy but Ki , Chi, Qui & The Force are essentially the same.
