7:01 I love that scene so much. I never get tired of that chaotic energy Allston gives Luke's Jedi.
I love you and Justin's dedication to the pronunciation of Exar Kun.
Also "Darth Kaitus"
This is what I wanted to see in in the sequel trilogy Luke Skywalker building a new Jedi Order and to see his counsel and I wanted to see most of I wanted to see a lot of Legends in the sequel trilogy
I did also.
I still remember how funny it was when you bought up Tresinas famous unrolling of her snout on the table scene on the pod, great times laughing at simple mistakes
Anikan when seeing the part about the Jedi Knight joini g the council 4:05 : "I HATE YOU!!!"
I love the format for this video.
How about a video on the Imperial Knights?
Disney really robbed us of so much didn’t they? I still remember hearing about the sword of the Jedi being in the works as the Disney takeover was looming on the horizon, and HOPING it would manage to be published before Star Wars was taken. I guess we can’t get everything we want.
Well luckily Disney Star Wars is burning. There are entire stores full of unsold Disney merchandise including marvel and Star Wars. Reviews and shares are also at all time lows.
@@DM5550Z Yeah it's almost as if there's a Disney boycott going on right now or something.
I must have missed the time where Disney sent agents to everyones houses to confiscate all their EU books.
@@tTaseric Looks more like you missed the time where Disney allowed for the EU storylines to be continued.
Shut up and stop crying. You still have decades of story telling to keep revisiting. Your crying makes you look like a freak.
Legends (real cannon) lore its soo god damn good and fullfiling. Just a "happy ending". Kyle Katarn 🔥💪
My personal head canon for Sequel Trilogy. Like the High Republic, Luke's Jedi Council has 3 Grandmasters being Luke, Grogu and K'Kruk to not have one be in total power and complacent. Then Masters Cal Kestis as the head librarian/lorekeeper, his apprentice Kata Akuna from Jedi Survivor as she is a powerful healer and consular. Master Ezra Bridger, Jacen Syndulla, Kyle Katarn as the Jedi Battlemaster, Mara Jade Skywalker, Corran Horn, a female Barron Do Sage Kel Dor named Tezu Ekynra. She teaches Luke Electric Judgment/Luke's Emerald Lightning. Once every padawan is knighted, they are encouraged to record as many new holocrons for the Ossus holocron archive. Force abilities, lightsaber form lessons, planets strong in the force like Tanalorr, Zeffo, Tython etc. Palpatine took so much away during the Empire. By 35ABY, the Order numbers around 300 members. Initiates, Padawans, Knights and Masters.
EXAN KYEWN 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Maybe the twelfth member later became ben skywalker
Kyp Durron is my favorite character!
That picture of Kenth Hamner looks suspiciously similar to headshots of Chesty Puller. Hmm.
I just wish disney had showed the series like, any remote respect at all… Everything is just so shallow, lazy, and linear… The twists in the books were AMAZING, because there were so many gray areas, and several characters had the opportunity to be heroes or villains, sometimes BOTH, (depending on point of view 😉).
There was such a cast of genuinely interesting characters and their flaws, just as much as their strengths actually enhanced the story.
Also, for me what makes good writing is often characters that aren’t necessarily sure of their path, and have to think and you get to see their conflict about what they should do next…
Disney has done okay with mando, fallen order and andor with those sorts of characters.... also let's not forget that most of Legends was very average if not largely on pat with disney stuff
@@JJJBunney001the old continuity is like a bustling city compared to the new continuity being a desolate wasteland. The old continuity ended with Luke in his 60s, a fully reestablished Jedi order with over a thousand members with a full history of all the years that led to that.
In the new continuity, Luke waited decades to start a Jedi academy, it lasted a couple years, was destroyed and he gave up and died, never having a new Jedi order. The same can all be said for the new Republic.
Wouldn’t mind a vid on how the Jedi were funded and supplied. Both normally and in various wars. Both post Return of the Jedi Legends and the Prequel era.
I wanna hear about the friction in the publishing department. In all seriousness.
The confrontation between Saba and Kenth was one of my favorite moments in that series. I'm guessing that's not a popular opinion.
It was one of mine as well.
Actually Roan Fel never approved of an alliance with the Sith but he was overruled by the Moff Council. In fact the Ossus Massacre was done against Roan Fel's orders, same with the war that resulted in the Ossus Massacre
I’d really appreciate a video about all the info available for the planned Sword of the Jedi
PLEASE
There isn't much out there, it's basically just Luke sending people to go hunt down the dagger of mortis to stab abeloth when she returned
I’m keeping the faith the legends timeline would get re started and just keep it in AU timeline like Marvel does Disney can do it
@@BlackSteelKeyChain Disney would sabotage it by putting writers who want to push a one-sided biased social message instead of continue the expanded universe as it was. It won't be the same. They'll also include Disney canon lore in there either by mistake since that's all they know, OR they will purposely sabotage the Legends canon to make their sloppy canon look good. They have no interest in giving us back our Star Wars as it was.
Some of these Jedi cAN BE made canon at Luke Jedi acadmy accept they wil be trained has padawans including Rey New Jedi order.
Rey New Jedi Order is sword of the Jedi, so I wouldnt be shocked even they use those cancelled ideas for the new films
Saba best girl.
I look forward to these videos so much. I love the legends lore and everything about it. I really appreciate you guys delving into the books like u do. That said can we pleeeaaasseeee get a video about cade Skywalker and that era, I haven't read a whole lot on it and it's so overlooked by legends fans
Because nobody really likes the legacy comics, they're kinda bad
@@JJJBunney001 true, but it's still star wars history, the naval doctrine especially is interesting to me given the dramatic shift in the types, numbers, and sizes of the fleets
@@JJJBunney001 Said no one ever, bet you love Ahsoka and Kenobi though
@@crazyguy1mania537 BS, Legacy is good
@@JJJBunney001this is straight up not true. Legacy is generally well regarded.
In the new story it will be ashoka, ezra and cal
I love them individually and as a couple, but I'm so glad Legends ended before I had to hear Jaina addressed as "Master Fel."
What about Master Solo-Fel, or Fel-Solo?
@@michaelandreipalon359it's the first one
Well.. she WAS a Master-Fel duelist 😂
I got so used to "Leia Organa-Solo" that it was weird to see it dropped in the sequels
I’m pretty sure in the final novel (continuity wise) Crucible, before Luke sets out to meet Han, Leia, and Lando, she was addressed as Master Solo during a test observing a potential apprentice candidate who failed the test and, it was either Luke or Corran, she was addressed in a sentence aimed at the initiate who failed the test as “Master Solo.” And obviously this was after FOTJ and her marriage to Jag since Jag is there as one of the Jedi Orders combat instructors and specialists when it came to blaster fire and long and short range combat. His title was Commander Fel at that point. In very formal circumstances she was probably addressed as Master Solo-Fel but inside the Jedi order and to people close to her it was probably just Master Solo.
I always loved the scene during Apocalypse when Luke says to her “Master Solo.” And she responds “Yes, Master Skywalker?”
Luke says right before a massive battle with Abeloth and the Sith
“May the Force be with you.”
I’ve always disliked Kyp Durron; or, at least, his portrayal, specifically his constant criticism of Luke immediately before and during the Yuuzhan Vong invasion.
Considering he was allowed to roam the galaxy after committing genocidal acts only because Luke interceded on his behalf, should have bought Luke some slack from Kyp’s criticism, warranted or not. In fact, I recall a scene from one of the NJO books where Wedge Antilles (the real best starfighter pilot, not that Poe-nobody) lets Kyp have a piece of his mind regarding how much of an ingrate he is, given his past; in fact, he ordered him to shut up, or risk be shot in cold blood by him (wedge)
It's been years since I read those books, but I remember finding him interesting. The guys a jerk and honestly a rather poor Jedi regardless of power, and it makes him serve as an excellent foil to Luke. He really never paid heed to the lesson Luke passed down from Yoda of "adventure? Excitement? A Jedi craves not these things". He's a type of Luke if the man himself hadn't listened, learned from his suffering, and grown. I can definitely see why Luke kept him around, both because it's very good to have an opposition and as a reminder for himself....that and I kept the idiot under the eyes of people who could contain the damage if he lost it again. But yes Luke's friends would have little patience with such a person, especially wedge who is possibly his oldest friend outside Han by only days and have been through so much together. I remember two particular bits with wedge. One where he's interviewing a person for wraith squadron and she's bad mouthing Luke and he basically thinks "good thing I'm judging her as a pilot and not a person" and another real late in it all where he essentially helps Luke set a a third faction in the second civil war, so he lays out what Luke is doing so his friend knows how this can turn out.
He was reckless, but he was right about Luke. Luke spent half the series terrified to take any offensive action against the Vong because he worried about turning to the dark side or becoming genocidal maniacs or something. Luke just helped ferry refugees did nothing else while billions of people were being killed.
@@00yiggdrasill00 the pilot was Falyyn Sandskimmer: another pilot from Tatooine with a chip on her shoulder since she was always been compared with Luke just because of their home planet
@@Parocha thank you. I had considered looking onto it but I've been busy for months
Legends: All these epic and amazing characters
Disney: I dunno.
Yeas more lore
Keep covering the era and legacy era
I really like that the New Jedi Order's council featured non-Jedi government officials as well as a representative from the non-Master ranked Jedi, it seems pretty clear that the old order's High Council being just a bunch of Masters ruling from a literal ivory tower was a massive reason for the fall. When the Dark Side clouded even their connection to the Force, they were just a bunch of blind old men, disconnected from the galaxy, easy to isolate and take down.
Hell Ben Skywalker definitely became Grand Master later in his life. Of course someone between whenever Luke finally became one with the Force and then later Ben taking the mantle, probably either Saba or Jaina, and then Ben. Luke in his thoughts during FOTJ was always worrying and hoping he was showing his son what it meant to lead the Jedi. He knew his son would one day become the Grand Master after he passed on.
Lightsider can be found out in the internet now. Highly recommend
This is true canon
Did you mention lar leung?
He died before there was a council. He was a master, but not all masters were council members (and vice versa)
So sad Mara Jade, Solo Twins and the other JHC were washed away by Disney. Luke’s Jedi in canon are completely different, and he doesn’t learn anything from the jedis mistakes and runs from them like a complete fool. In the book of boba, he forces grogu to choose between Din or the Jedi. Luke in legends contrarily allowed Jedi to stay with their families on ossus and provided quarters to family visitors. Luke’s order had no known real council, and TLJ erased any survivors of Luke’s order making the entire story a waste. I really hope Corey keeps up this great work and eventually surpass the Disney shills.
The kid was literally Luke's first student, and even while Luke was figuring out what a Jedi order should be like, he still was more open minded about family ties than the old order, by offering Grogu a _choice,_ rather than choosing for him and then enforcing that choice.
Given that Ben was seemingly upset by the _absence_ of his parents in his life, it can be inferred that he still could have had contact with them growing up, even as he went to Luke's academy, like that's normal for the other Jedi, so ultimately Luke seems to have figured that stuff out.
Luke had no new Jedi order in canon. He started an academy, which looked like a summer camp with a dozen students, and it only lasted 2 years or something, then he abandoned it all and died
They weren't "washed away" the books are all still readily available, their stories are just complete. I don't think current canon is flawless or even really superior, but the whole idea that Legends was somehow devalued by ending still baffles me
4:56 that seems like a conflict of interest. Didn’t think Luke would be into nepotism 11:30 oh look there it again
Mara was kept off of the original council by Luke for that reason, and then when it turned into a pure-Jedi council, the addition of members seems to have been unanimous vote rather than appointment by the grandmaster (I would have to go back and re-check Barratk'l and Jaina's addition to be sure)
@@CoreysDatapad I see. It’s still kinda funny
Whether she's on the Council or not, 1) she's one of the most powerful Jedi in the NJO, and 2) Luke's going to be getting her advice regardless, so why not make it official?
@@davidb9639 I was joking
Can sympathize with their need to look and feel ragtag... but I'd still rather prefer a more stoic and stern-faced, outwardly cold and calculating, and unflinchingly and benevolently involved with the "action outside their comfort zones" angle on the Council.
And their sole Muggle really shouldn't be Omas in my eyes. Would have rather preferred a combat capable, Jedi-countering Muggle (but not a Mandalorian, trust me).
Still love the "Kingdom Come/Civil War" angle of the Second Galactic Civil War (am a sucker for protagonist vs. protagonist sagas set in a now rougher, far different future), although Jacen Solo being the opposition will always be a mistake that should justify the "Denning-verse" becoming an Infinities tale.
At that point the non-Jedi in the council were entirely political in order to have a tighter relationship with the Galactic Alliance. After the Vong War ended there weren't there weren't non-Jedi on the council. There would be no reason for that.
Just remember how long it was between NJO and later materiel, discounting the killik shenanigans that's over a decade of peace. No need for a more stoic, military jedi order
@@JJJBunney001 And look what happened, more war because of sickening complacency.
@@michaelandreipalon359not really, it was because of historical tensions and Hans cousin being a dick. Had nothing to do with the GA being complacent
@@JJJBunney001 Oh, and how precisely were their crimes not noticed until it's all too late, I fascinatingly ponder?

Remember none of this happeded. Luke tried to kill his nephew and then he ran away and fled to a desolate planet while the first order reigned.
None of this happened. Star Wars is not real

Thank you for this resource. It may come in handy for my fanfics, even if it mostly covers events during and after the Vong War. My fics are Legends based, but are an AU where Thrawn's Empire of the Hand is much stronger and more prominent, and Mara becomes the Knight-Commander of their Imperial Knights (directly inspired by the ones from the Legacy comics). Luke actually leaves the Jedi to go with her to the Hand, (based on a line of his at the end of "Survivor's Quest" where he offers to do just that), and Leia -- outed from her political career -- instead becomes either the new Jedi representative of the New Republic (with Ahsoka as Grand Master), or Leia becomes Grand Master herself, I'm not sure yet.
Come on Disney. Open the EU up for new stories
