    You taught me 1st song in Still the same about 10 months ago. Satisfying and humbling all at once to be able to play this at the level I'm now at. You teach fantastic while exuding such a beautiful and comforting spirit that sings so uplifting. Amber, you've been a blessing and a true earth angel, allowing for such an incredibly enjoyable guitar journey. I'm gonna be playing these 2 Seger songs back to back and will always remember that Stellar lady Amber 4 teaching them to me!! May you have a blessed day in every way 🙏 ✨️ 💛 🎸 !!!!

    I do the Bm like a power chord and that works too if the bar is too hard, plus it trains the index finger to go grab those lower strings. I like the way you teach cheats, arthritis kicks some of us hard.

    I found it a bit slower to do open G and then Barre Bm.
    But that's just me .I even find it faster to go to Aminor Barre 5th fret than open A minor.

Some people use their phone. Thinking about recording my playing every couple of months to measure my ability or how much I am improving. Any feedback is appreciated.

    • @thestellarguitarist

      Hi Jerry! Great question 😊 my setup is dead simple. I am not very tech savvy so I keep it easy! I record everything from my iPhone. I attach a lapel mic (Hollyland brand) onto my guitar strap which picks up my vocals and guitar playing. No need for an amp. Straightforward and easy. 🙌 you should absolutely record yourself. • @alisterbuhler1544
    @alisterbuhler1544 3 месяца назад

    This is a question and not criticism:
    I notice you play both the G chord and Em chords with your index finger on A string ...is this to make it easier for beginners..or is this the correct way? I always find it confusing when a chord is played differently. I have been practicing the chords using my middle and ring finger as I find it easier to move between C major chord and G and likewise between E major and Em?
    The A major chord is another chord that seems to be played differently by musicians.
    Thanks for the fantastic lessons.

    • @rzh3443
      @rzh3443 3 месяца назад +2

      Good question. I have been playing since the 60 s . The fingering I use is related to the chord sequence you are doing. In other words, the easiest and fastest configuration to connect and change chords. I call it finger GPS. Personally , I play open Em in one of three ways : one finger ( some cannot do this), or with index on the A string or middle on the A string. Depends on the lead in chord and follow-up one. Same goes for G to C sequences , etc. No one way or right way. Main thing is to experiment around and have some fun playing.

    • @thestellarguitarist
      @thestellarguitarist  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi Alister, thanks for your question! There is no right/wrong way to play a chord. It depends on which fingers you prefer to use to create the chord shape. I often will switch between different finger combinations when I’m playing an Em chord, depending on which chord is coming before or after it! As long as you are squeezing down the correct strings, you can use whichever finger feels most comfortable for you 😊🎵

      @@John-ob7dh Then maybe I am correct in saying learn the barre chord first. Could be my arthritic hands playing some factor in it to. Happy strumming.

      @Clarencechapman please understand I am not trying hijack this thread ,but a good way to learn Barre chords is strum Apache in Barre chords ,sliding up and down the neck as in Am to D ( twice ) then D to G (,twice )then back to Am D twice
      All in Barre chords .
      .right I am off this thread now.

      You're absolutely right, learning the standard B minor chord is so much easier and versatile in the long run! 😊 but each to their own!

    What do the x’s mean on the d chord

    • @thestellarguitarist
      @thestellarguitarist  11 дней назад +1

      Hi Shane, if you are referring to the chord diagram, it means that you do not strum those specific strings (so for the D chord, do not strum the E or A strings)

    I just can't get the proper G. I was taught to just use your thumb and index finger on the E strings. It's just haunting me I can't get it right.
    I can do C. D, F, Em, Am all easy. I'm doomed!

      @thestellarguitarist  3 месяца назад +1

      Hi Craig 😊 well done on being able to play all your open chords 🙌 yes, the G chord is a tricky one. You say you are using your thumb to play the chord? That is not right. Your G chord should be played using your index, middle and ring finger. If you need more help and a foolproof blueprint, I think you will love my beginners guitar program. You can check it out here: thestellarguitarist.com/course/thestellaracademy

    I don’t know why you can’t consistently provide a short preview of the song before showing chords.
    I have an ear for music like many people. Having your version of the song in my head makes following your lesson much more effective.
