I came here following Andrew's tweet. And holy cow, I almost lost my breath. Julius, that's some serious fractal art which is mesmerizing indeed. Everybody should send their twitter followers here!
@@julius-horsthuis Hi Julius , I sent you 5 months ago asking your permission to use your artwork and you said yes for me once I give you credit and I will do it just now and I will give you the credit . Yes , I am a producer of Eletronic Music for about 18 years . Cheers Julius :)
It's interesting to hear you talk about it. You create your own categories, which are a reflect of your mind organisation and I suppose this helps you navigate and explore the fractal world
These are similar to some of the visuals produced by DMT but there is also an emotional aspect with DMT plus the other beings sharing the space with you.
The director of this year's best movie Oscar nominee, Arrival, (2016),Denis Villeneuve, should know about you and the unbelievable things you can create. Your work is just incredible.
Wow Bro, I find it very generous of you to share these with us- the basis of your staggering creations. What a score to have stumbled upon you Julius just only a week ago. I just love your organic , tropical, watery- seemingly natural fractals especially, though I'm moved by all I've seen so far. Have you produced wall paper or physical wall art? I'd buy some wall paper of your work if it was available and I could afford it. You're amazing!
thank you so much! This really is relaxing and interesting listening to you speak. I was really trying to find out more about rendering some cool images but now I really would love to get to the animation side. Great video.
amazing box is my favorite..been working on one for a couple of years getting some cool buildings out of it.. trying to learn photo shop more, want to do some mat painting with them
You'll normally run into symmetries when interpolating across moving julia values with julia mode on (in mandelbulb 3d). If you are using this, the best way I have found to avoid those blaring symmetry lines is to focus on a part of the scene that is segmented by the largest major julia axes, so that the smaller ones all blend into the rest of the scene
Excellent and entertaining video. I found via Andrew Price on twitter (thanks AP!) Something that immediately sprang to mind is how good these renders would be to experience in 360degrees SBS to view in a Rift/Vive. To me it seems the sense of scale could then be more profound. Anyway I'm glad I found your channel. thank you.
Thank you! It's great that you think it would be good in 360 degrees. I've made some 360 videos for VR and will soon release an app for vive/oculus/gearVR: www.julius-horsthuis.com/vr-projects/
When I first saw this video few months ago,I didn't like it that much. But now I do like it.I think it's a wonderful tool and I want to try it. I have a need to create new things and this could be just what i want.Sorry about my previous negative comment.I got put off by your saying how you hate symmetry, but there is lots of symmetry in this.Did enjoy it this time:)
I wonder how you have so few subscribers making so fantastic art. There's just nothing similarly weirdly beautiful on RUclips when you're looking for 3d fractal video
Thank-You sooOOO Much for the top-tips, really looking forward to trying your suggestions. Kind regards, all the very best, Peace, Love & Jammin' !!!!!! xX
The term “fractal” comes from the Latin word fractus, the perfect participle passive of the verb frangere, meaning “to break, shatter, or break down”. Mandelbrot defined a fractal to be any curve or surface that is independent of scale. Self similarity means that any portion of the curve, if blown up in scale, would appear identical to the whole curve. Thus the transition from one scale to another can be represented as iterations of a scaling process. In my mind I see it as a broken geometry paired with mathematics. It is definitely not another dimension.
i diddn't like symmetry either.. But think about it.. Fractal functions are pure summetry. It repeats it self over and over and over.. I have also drawn the mandelbrot set, dragon curve etc.. And they are all made out of pure repetition.. So i started to avoid it to make it more chaotic, but the boarder is so small.. The beauty is within the symmetry.. It is also the symmetry which make up the "pods" accept the beauty!!!!!!!!!!!111 :)
You say that you aren't into maths but you describe what you see like a general topology specialist would do. Anyway, you have a talent for maths and you should try it. I suppose you will enjoy it.
Excellent video and gorgeous fractals. You clearly know what you're doing with the software. Speaking of which, what are you using? I assume that, like many-if-no-most fractal artists, you're using both Mandelbulb 3D and Mandelbulber. Do you have a preference between those? Are you using something else entirely. Also, you are CLEARLY doing some very detailed post work here. Such a glows of certain colors. Very inspiring, and it's making me think about how I can achieve similar using Blender, Fusion, and DaVinci Resolve. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. :D
Thank you. No Mandelbulber, only Mandelbulb3D. And indeed, After Effects work. Checkout my tutorial called 'underwater fractal tutorial' where I explain more about the process. J
Wow, beautiful!

Thank you! And yes, if you like it and have twitter followers, please do! :D
Will do that plus facebook post tomorrow. I wouldn't expect too many peeps, but some will come :)
haha yes its gleb again! always see you commenting on the sick 3d stuff!
@@GlebAlexandrov when ever i search for fractals you always come up in comments
I keep coming back to watch this video. Absolutely breathtaking, as well as informative. Thank you so much!
Okay i have a new favourite video
Holy shit the way you described pods was so confusing yet so relatable and easy to understand and its blowing my mind
Wow this is incredible! It's the first fractal art I've seen that actually looks beautiful! Really well done ;)
Thanks, Andrew! And thank you as well for sending your twitter followers to my channel :)
thats how you know andrew price is a real gamer

didn't expect to see andrew here haha. when are you making a fractals tut on blender man??
OMG wow. So hypnotising. Brilliant.
Very insightful. Would be so cool to watch you do a whole world from start to finish. Would love to see your process
I imagine hell to be a fractal room, you keep running for infinity but you can't get out.
Me too! Endless repetititittititiivivtiveve feverish dreams.....
heaven is a fractal room where you have constant memory loss
Aren't the universe and your memory fractal rooms?
seems a plot of a movie like Cube, especially Cube 2 (hybercube)
COULD YOU INHALE ANY LOUDER???????????
I REALLY enjoy the aesthetics of this tutorial. its like flying through space with sort of a guide explaining stuff to you via radio or whatever.
I am so inspired by your incredible art. Thank you so much.
You are a fractonaught my good sir. May the pod be with you
Music makes is X times more epic than it already is.
How i am only just discovering this Video ...Julius i am blown away by your work every time!👍🏽
omg thx really give me a new perspective of fractal art
Thanks for your "tutorial". I liked getting names for so many of the different designs and styles that you have created. Much appreciated!
absolutely underrated video.
Asura is such a good choice for this, thanks for sharing.
It's interesting to hear you talk about it. You create your own categories, which are a reflect of your mind organisation and I suppose this helps you navigate and explore the fractal world
Damn I have never seen fractal art be this good.
You're my favourite 3D fractal artist since years ago. Glad to find you on youTube.
And I say this with solemn earnestness, this video could very well be the most amazing one I've ever seen.
Nice tutorial, or rather a coaching provided by restless explorator !
Thanks Julius, to help us to find routes in those infinite universes !
Your work is inspiring ..i have been trying out my hand with the mandelbulber till now .. and it is a trip !
Trance inducing. Thanks for sharing some of this info!
i like the smooth intermixing of different music genres
Amazing, cannot stop watching! Thank you
My mind = blown! Beautiful work Julius, beautiful!
I think this is the best video in youtube on fractal 3d presentation art.
Super awesome work. It realy has blown me away. Phantastic!
the voice perfectly fits to be the master of this art
Excellent - great visuals, music that works and good narration. Do more, you got the knack!
these fractal achitectures are amazing!
Wow! This is beyond beautiful! ♥
Thank you for sharing some of your knowledge. We appreciate it 🖤🌌
You could get lost forever in one of these fractal worlds
well characterized, awesome work, thx
Imagine 2 movie characters fighting in these fractals
Oh wait. Dr strange.
You are a pioneer in this field.
Excellent work indeed!
Julius, you work made my jaw DROP!
I really enjoyed this. And I was very informative. I would love it if you made some more of these.
Absolutely Excellent overview of 3D fractals!! Nice work!
🙉 my math teacher was right... The Language of The Universe Is Math!
Thank you! 🙏
This is propably what we see while on dmt
Just imagine a flawless, infinitely detailed version, you are correct
On DMT, you don't just see it, you sort of feel it too. It's overwhelming.
These are similar to some of the visuals produced by DMT but there is also an emotional aspect with DMT plus the other beings sharing the space with you.
Confirmed that definitely what you would see on DMT
JAW DROPPING. I must learn this software!
I’m glad you did this. I’ve been binging on your masterpieces and I wondered if you were a mathematician. Guess not!
Thank you for explaining!!! Was feeling quite stuck as I didn’t understand some parameters. The way you explain is awesome and extremely eye opening
You are a good coder, thus a good engineer, thus a good prophet. Stay inspired my friend.
that was breathtaking
Beautifully made. The video, the audio, the entire ambience.. I'm at a loss for words. Great job man!!
I absolutely love this, the psychedelic type talk like terence mckenna is so cool. Watched some of your other vids and I love your art!
The director of this year's best movie Oscar nominee, Arrival, (2016),Denis Villeneuve, should know about you and the unbelievable things you can create. Your work is just incredible.
8:40 - the Pineapple King! :D
Lol
Those are some insanely good fractals my man. Goede productie!
I dig the zooms at the end .
My head started to spin
Also nice tutorial, educated me how to chillout quite well

It does on DMT

I wish to see this in VR glasses in real stereoscopic 3d!
It is WONDERFUL !!!!!!!!! WOOOW Thans....!!
Yo, this is amazing. I haven't used Mandelbulb for yeeeeeaaars, but I think I might have to download it again. Instasubbed, too. Love your art.
M3D software...
Wow, it's wonderful !

ay man this was pretty dope
why dont you have like a million subscribers already? wow!
no idea! I haven't been promoting my YT channel much, I'm more active on Vimeo. But please, spread the word! Thanks!
Sure thing man, hey these images remind me of a time I took Ayahuasca, really similar to the places I visited.
Great job!
i love it
you are really a cool guy
Luv this
What program / script is user to Creator this. This is amazing
were do you learn it? where can I learn to do averythings you did, is really amazing
What is the best way to render the fractal animations ? Is keyframes the only way?
