Sara made all the difference to the show IMHO. Her smirks, the counteracting on the deep relationships with Humph and Richard, the eventual frustration when she leaves for Paris... From a real-world's perspective it's obvious that a career move may have been about due after four seasons; yet, from a fan's perspective it's super sad. Makes the first four seasons even more precious 🙂
Hopefully Sara Matins will be back to the show. There is unfinished story between Humphrey and Camille. Plus this island is her home. Fantastic actress her present makes all difference.

Laurie Williams No, Josephine Jobert is an absolutely hideous actor. She's terrible! First actress I've watched and thought, "She must be married to someone in casting?" I can't watch from season 4 anymore. New appreciation for Sara Martins. Both pretty women - but one actually CAN act.
Much as I like Camille, I like her mother even more. (right, I'm old) Not a lot of screen time and that may be part of her appeal, but they're both very comfortable sorts. Each time a character is replaced I start off disliking the newbie. But to date they've all ended up measuring up to the part.
Sadly now Kris has gone too. The next DI is, Ardal O Hanlon. I'm gonna see the first episode tonight, not sure how that will work. I thought DI Humphrey was great, i will truly miss him.- Too bad there was no farewell scene either like the one they had for Camille. Anyway... take care Kris Marshall whereever you are ; - )

Ben Miller and Sara Martins had real chemistry. It was a pity they didn't ........, but Ben obviously had a relationship and young family back home. I gave up watching after he left. You could guess it was only a matter of time before Sara would leave too. Surprised she lasted as long as she did. Nothing against Kris Marshall but he didn't quite fill Ben Miller's shoes for me. I don't watch the new series as for me DIP was Ben Miller and Sara Martins. I think the BBC should know when to quit and knock the programme on the head. It's a pity Ben Miller's character was actually killed off meaning no return. It was good while it lasted.
when richard was killed i said : i’m gonna stop watching this show, but then i continued, and after sara left the show i really stop watching. It was horrible to see Ben Miller left and more when it was Sara Martins
I stopped after Ben Miller left as it was easy to see that Sara Martin's heart wasn't in it any more. I think I watched 1 or 2 episodes with Kris Marshall and thought no, the great chemistry of the original team had gone, not just between Ben Miller and Sara Martins but the rest of the team. I also like the relationship DI Poole had with his boss Don Warrington who is also a great actor. They shot some great scenes as well. Nothing lasts for ever. Glad that Ben Miller made the two series that he did. He is a very funny guy and great scientist as well.
I just watched the interview where Kris is leaving the show and I am disappointed. but I can understand. Just hope the next actor can do the show as good. I love watching it and miss it when it is not on.

It’s funny I did a test with 23 and me and I have Portuguese ancestry I wonder do I have Cape Verdean roots. Because I’m originally from Springfield Massachusetts and I also have roots in Massachusetts on my mother side. I know for a fact we have a big Cape Verdean population in Massachusetts. When are they bringing the show back on? they never run it long enough in a season. I wish they would put it back on Monday nights because they ruin the other channels. 8.00 is a great time . Bring Camille back.
I have liked all the DI’s. I would have liked to see The characters of Richard and Camille develop further. I would have preferred Richard to not have been murdered. I liked Kris’ character as well. Once the DI’s have settled in then the show takes off. Overall I have liked the whole series!

I have only started watching death in paradise this year from season 1. I had to stop after Sara Martins left. It was unbearable to watch Josephine jobert - this woman cannot act in a Christmas childrens play. What a difference Sara Martins made. I had no particularly attachment to her until she left and I realised what impossibly bad acting is - Josephine Jobert. What the hell bbc? Worst actor ever. I miss Sara Martins!

The show is now a travesty! They've made a mockery of a decent set-up! Whoever decided Ruby was a good addition needs their heads read..SHE is hopeless, as are her lines and script! Plus they're casting an actor from 2 pints of lager, who appeared on a previous episode, as an Estate Agent, as the new Inspector!!! Are they so hard up for actors?????
No offense Kris but I can't watch death in paradise anymore as Ben Miller's character Richard was killed off, way before necessary...and further more in a completely unrealistic way - it was totally out of character!!! Not the actor's fault as I enjoy stuff Kris is usually in but totally the BBC's fault!!!!!!!

Frankie Telford Ben Miller left the show to spend more time with his family, so I'm not sure of a better way to have resolved his character leaving. They teased his character leaving the island before, but I think they wrote the transition pretty well.

Alex Morgan kris is great but the new inspector seems weird
My perfect cast would be Humphrey, Florence, JP and Ruby. I think a shake up of characters keeps the show fresh.
