@@SeanFillner I’ll start that series next. I didn’t get the hint that you went back and forth between Abel build and adventures so I watched Abel builds straight through…time for “adventures”
Hey Sean, I always enjoy your videos. One thing I noticed…. The Eberspacher is a 5KW unit, so that would be about 17,000 btu/hr. So, your new heater is bigger, but only 35% more. Can’t wait to see what broke on the heater and how you fix it. Before it broke, I was envisioning that thing as a bulletproof heater.
@@SeanFillner 5KW is metric, that translates to 17,000 btu/hr which is English units. BTU is literally British Thermal Units. If you google “5kw to btu” it will calculate it for you. Do you find your Eberspacher can’t keep up in cold weather? Why do you think you need so much more heat?
@@dcraigslist5243 I just though with the radiant floor heat, plate exchanger for hot water, and radiant fan air heater it might need more. We shall see when winter hits. Might work just fine.
@@SeanFillner I hope I don’t sound like a jerk in my response. I was in a hurry. Honestly, I have been watching your videos since you bought Abel, and have learned more from you than I could ever list. Thanks for all of you posts.
@@dcraigslist5243 NO not at all! You educated me on something I did not know. All this time I thought I had a 5k btu eberspacher when in reality I have a 17k btu eberspacher. I have something on the way that will double the output but now that I know what you told me I may not ever need it. Nice to have a spare in case this one dies though.
"Aura? You have a problem?" LMBO! Well, I used to shoo Mowzer away any time I noticed she was about to leave a doogie in my work-space. I don't think I ever filmed her, though. LOL! Is it really that loud? Seems like there is also a need for spare parts for that little bad boy. Cheers, Sean!
Hi sean its mark, i have worked on hydronic ,espar and other systems if you want me to work on it ,you. An call dave Anderson helicools helipad he has my phone number, i will take alook at at it for free and diagnose it, repair as well for no charge, if it needs parts i would let you know, also were you able to save Subaru after the accident or are planning another one ? Thanks
The Subaru is gone. I think the blower motor or the relay to the motor is bad. It's such an old unit and I have no idea if it would ever work properly enough to be reliable for my setup. It was a gamble that I lost on. Where are you located??
I used to rebuild units you could prabably get a cole hersey relay a replacement, also you said unit smoked a little bit some time they need deep cleaning
@@markwilliams7088 It weighs nearly 50 pounds. I think it would cost more to ship than it is worth. No worries. I have a solution on the way. I will tinker with this another time.
Your ingenuity and problem solving skills always amaze me. I’m sorry it didn’t work out though.
Great vid!! Super love your creativity and upcycling!! Well, don't think you sold me on this model, but like the direction you're headed......
It was a fun gamble. Maybe I will tinker with it again when I have more time...
Very cool! Yea, Aura sighting! And I gotta go back and see when you swapped out that steering wheel…I remember the first swap…
I covered it in the Adventures with Abel series...

Ya I want one of those
I just sold it...
looks like a great idea for a hot tub as well
160F water doesn't sound fun....

So a 5kw eberspacher is not 5k btus? I am so confused. I thought for sure I found the holy grail of hydronic heaters.

Wow…this one is cool! Lotta BTUs!
Sold it. Died and never got it working again.

I bought my truck from Will. Its a beast! Great price, mechanically sound

I noticed the fuel valved looked like it was closed would like to see it run again if you fire it again
I wish that was a fuel valve. It's to burp air out of the coolant. I removed it and blocked that line off as it is not needed on my setup.
Ha ha ha "I'm sorry you have to see that" as you run over with the camera !!! Thanks for the laugh! Always fun playing with fire!
Well, Aura apparently wanted to be filmed LOL. Thanks for tuning in!
Looks like a good idea =)
Well poopy. Wonder how hard a blower will be to source. I have a nos hydronic and air version of this. Prolly should bench test them.
I have a solution on the way...stay tuned...
A water heater that Rolls Coal! Bummer it broke 😕
200 bucks well spent...wish it would have ran longer....
