    Just an FYI, the audere pro z switch is pre programmed middle position mid z = passive tone(no load) forward position low z = lower darker sound rear position high z = higher capacitance brighter sound. Its also programmable. It’s my favorite preamp. I have it in two of my basses. Love your vids brother. Keep it up.

      The 4-band Audere is my absolute fave too. With or without the Z switch (Pro-Z model vs. Classic model) Fantastic part.

    Rad video. I have a BSR5J, too, and I've loved it since the day it arrived back in February 2001. Mine is is almost identical to your, but mine has gold hardware.

    Ken Smith is the Rolls Royce of basses as far as I am concerned. I have one and if I were ever forced to sell my collection of Roscoe, Warrior, or any of the other boutique jobs I own, I would let them all go before I would ever part with my Smith six string.

    That may be the best sounding Smith I've ever head, but I'm partial to Jazz pickups.

    I think it’s more of the Bartolini pickups and that Audere pre that’s giving you most of that great tone. I’m no expert but let’s give credit where credit is due 😊

    Wow bro a good idea video again o. Me love it. Shahracaca. Bro don't you have a 6string guitar to talk about besides bass? It be interesting how you as a bassist would aproach the 6string guitar and how you would home Depot it.?! Do you even own one? How would you do setup and how be playing a 6string? Maybe future vid? (Sorry if english writing is not all correct. Im not in english born. Seen?) Thanks Sharakaka J. Lee. L. One Love

    I noticed you seem to get a lot of Ken Smiths with bad preamps. I also notice you don’t usually replace them with another KS preamp. Do other preamps sound better or are more reliable?

    • @LONGCASTLE777
      @LONGCASTLE777  2 года назад +2

      Other preamp seems to enhance the bass sometimes with more highs and definitely more power, I tent to go audere with lighter wood smith's and tone monster darker woods

    The fingerboard Ken uses for his bolt on’s is Morado aka Pao Ferrro . On the BSR J he only used Morado.

      Hey Johnny I have a Spector 6 string with the soap bar EMG SSD pickups. I recalled that you changed out the pre amp and pickups on a similar bass, can you tell me the replacement preamp and pickups that you used. Thanks for your help!

    I have $150.00 bass, because I think that it matches my skill level. Does it make that much of a difference to someone learning. I NEED HELP.

    • @carnovector6396

      haha naw man but i do feel that you should keep trying other basses in case, heres an exemple i had a ibanez sr300 as a first bass i thought shit looked slim and good it was same bass as fieldy from korn etc but i found i was a better guitarist than bassist until i sold it for a cort curbow which to my surprise is a much cheaper bass but plays soo much better to me than other basses, bass is really fit to the individual, price can make a dfference but i think playability depends on every one, so like i said keep practicing but try other basses every now and then just to see you never know

    Sounds like the first bartolini PUs I don’t like, Ken smith original setup is way better, or I won’t buy this bass, it sounds just “fine”.......
