Okay. While I'm sure Operation: Black Mesa's Blue Shift half will be good in it's own right, it's going to be hard to match the charm this remake is providing.

Because we love barney. The opposing force mod has been in development limbo for years now. Besides there's so many mods out now to fill that void like entropy zero 2
See 'Operation: Black Mesa' and 'Guard Duty' by Tripmine Studios for that one (You could think of it as "What Black Mesa was to Half Life now for Opposing Force & Blue Shift" sort of thing, with some very ambitious production values of it's own). It's got a Steam store page as of somewhat recently, but it's been in development for a *very long* time (The earliest I've known about it was probably around 2010). That said, they have gotten somewhat more lively reports of their progress in the last few years.
@@McGeezle Opposing Force was a proper expansion with a lot of new systems and productions values to account for such as new weapons, new AI, new enemies, new characters and even having a Xen Map adjacent to a Terra/Earth map for the Displacer's alt-fire, all of which make a much taller order to recreate and/or iterate upon, especially when working within the confines of an existing game that was already working (Initially at least) with Half Life 2's systems & assets as a base. In short, to make any kind of "Black Mesa: Opposing Force" to the caliber that HECU Collective has so far achieved with Black Mesa: Blue Shift demands a lot more work to be done and probably a lot more time to pull it off. I'm sure someone out there that I don't know about may have already tried or may be trying, but I can imagine one saying "Well, Tripmine Studios is still visibly working on Operation: Black Mesa with some very appealing production values above what Black Mesa has, so let's see how that turns out.", especially as anybody making HECU-themed mods may want to work with what Operation: Black Mesa has to offer instead of working within the limitations of Black Mesa as I've seen some try.
