    Amazingly in depth Luke! I think that's one of the nicer kit editors for a module I've ever seen! Kudos to 2box!

    Hi Luke i am very impressed. Can I use your complete pork Pie Kits in my drumit three also? And was the kit in the Last sequence of the Video one of them?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  Год назад

      Thank you! The kit at the end was made up of the instruments that I showed off in the video that were taken from other libraries/VSTs, so it's not one of the kits included with my PP13x7 pack. The kits in my pack can be heard on the demo video - ruclips.net/video/wuqEN0els6M/видео.html
      The kits included technically work with the DrumIt 3 but you need to have the instruments that I used on your module. Some of them might already be on the DrumIt 3 modules and all of them instruments are available to download. Annoyingly, only some can be downloaded individually from the 2Box Sounds page while the ithers are only found on the DrumIt 5 MKII SD card - you can download the full contents of that SD card for free from 2Box's website too, but it's a pretty big file and you'll need to then go through and find the instruments to add to your module.
      I have included a list of all of the instruments I've used in the download, so it's definitely possible, might just take a bit of time to gather the sounds. That's the reason I made a separate version that just has the snare files in case doing this is too complicated/time consuming.

    Luke, using this editor can I put a crash sound on the edge of my ride using just the stock sounds or sounds available on the 2box site? Or will I have to get sounds from a 3 party to make that happen?

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  Год назад

      Unfortunately, splitting zones/assigning different instruments to different zones on cymbal inputs isn't possible even with the kit editor.
      The only way I can think of for the stock sounds is to invest in Lustark's DSound Manager software. This software can extract .dsnd files into individual samples, so you could extract the sounds you want from the stock files and build new .dsnd files with zones from different instruments. It might even be possible to use it to just merge the zones you want from different files, can't quite remember. It's a great tool for building .dsnd files anyway, I highly recommend it if you want to get deeper into customizing your sounds.
      Alternatively, you can build .dsnd instruments using third party sounds and mix and match crash and ride samples if you wanted to.

      @@TheeDrumWorkshop That is what I figured. Seems a little silly that you can’t split and assign zones/sounds to the cymbals in the module. That’s a feature that the lowest end modules have nowadays. Have you ever considered making full kits for this module? Or even custom to order kits? That’s a market I’ve yet to see anyone else go after. Full bespoke kit made to the players preferences.

    • @TheeDrumWorkshop
      @TheeDrumWorkshop  Год назад

      Yeah, it is quite odd considering the full customisation available for every other aspect of the sounds. I think it's something to do with the way that the inputs handle different pad types - certain inputs are locked to particular kinds of trigger/pad presets. For example, you can't use cymbal triggers on the snare/tom inputs and have their full functionality. I'm not 100% sure that it's related, just something I noticed alongside the inability to split the zones.
      Of course, I've been considering making full kits at some point for this, the Strike and the Mimic. It requires a LOT of work to sample things in great detail though, so it's difficult to say what timespan I could achieve it in. I've currently got a big set of samples taken from a Black Beauty and another set of DW Collector's kick/toms that I took a while back. I'm only part way into chopping them all up and I have another set of Roland kits on the go too, so it's going to take a while. I've not even delved into multi-layer cymbal sampling either, that's a whole other kettle of fish. There's only me working on every aspect from the sampling to the kits to the artwork and videos, after all!
      So there's a reason that not many people make multilayer samples and they're mostly aimed at a larger market of producers or other musicians that want to program their drums - it's time consuming and expensive. That's also why making fully custom kits is difficult - making something bespoke takes the same amount of time as making kits for the store (or longer!) and then you're only selling one of them. This pushes the price up really high because you need to charge for time instead, which then prices out the majority of people. It will probably be easier and more beneficial to everyone to make full kits that are also available as individual instruments if people want to mix and match. I'll have to see how it works out when I've got my next batch done.
