    The insect on the butterfly bush you are wondering about at 20:02 in the video is a Hummingbird Moth.

    Solid adventure as always! I believe that’s a snowberry clearwing moth that you saw. As always, I look forward to your next adventure!

      I think you're right... AKA the hummingbird moth, which definitely makes sense. Thanks for watching, Kevin!

    Beautiful scenery! I’d love to check out the new bridge, but I’d be walking the trail instead of biking. Any ideas of places to park within a 2 mile walk (four miles round trip)

      Great question.... I was there today and parked at Safe Harbor Park and walked to the dam. But I didn't see anyway to climb the hill and get up to the trestle. It was all fenced off by the dam and the power station. The Turkey Hill parking is 5 miles away, and the whole east side of the trail is that huge rock wall. Not sure if there are good access points on the southeast side of the trestle. I will look into it! Thanks for watching!

      There is parking along the Conestoga River right at the Safe Harbor Bridge. Fairly steep hike short up the hill.

    The trail retraces the former Pennsylvania Railroad Atglen and Susquehanna Branch. The line was built in 1906 and abandoned in 1989, with tracks being removed in 1990. The distinctive PRR Catenary Poles were replaced with traditional utility style monopoles in 2011, as they still serve as part of Amtrak's 25Hz Traction System.

    That's a Sphynx Moth!! They are mistaken for hummingbirds from a distance!

    It’s videos, views, and the smiles on both your faces that make me want to get back into bike riding. Have been wanting to see this section of the trail after getting a taste of it from doing the Uncharted Lancaster Enola Tunnel adventure and this cemented it.

      Yeah, back when we did the Tunnels, we saw the "trail closed" sign where they were working on this. So glad it's open!
      We do have fun together! Thanks for watching, buddy!

      I do love the camera for videos like this... Next week's video is a good mix of GoPro and 360. The following week has no 360. I'm figuring out when it's best to use it. Thanks for your support, Kate!

    Camping in Quarryville next week and plan to ride a lot of miles on this trail. Any places to easily stop for food along the way?

    • @HikerDudeDad
      @HikerDudeDad  Год назад +1

      Great question! Maybe around Smithville? There is nothing at all along the Susquehanna River miles. Doesn't look like a lot when it turns east besides maybe Smithville. Quarryville is the biggest town area that it goes through, but you're staying there. Pack lunches? This trail would be a great place for food trucks to post up at road crossings.. Thanks for watching!

      So good! That Marticville trestle should be open late fall, then it'll be a 29 mile trail. Thanks for watching!
