    Just bought one. Sportsmans Warehouse, $ 1,067. Out the door. Got it setup and ready to fish. Don’t plan to carry much. 1 ultra-light for bream/ blue gill, 1 bait cast for Bass. Right now what I’m after is blue gill and bream. Thanks for taking the time to make and share this video with us. Right now it’s really freaking hot here in SC. Figure I get up before dawn. Hey thanks again.

      @@carr869 no problem man! Figured I couldn’t be the only one on the struggle bus with the steering haha. The 8 ball steering system from feelfree is also a fantastic upgrade. Really gives you the leverage you need cause the stock handle sucks haha. And man I’m with ya on the heat it’s 108 up here in Idaho right now lol.

    That’s a great Idea.. I just bought a Lost Creek 10.5.. Supposed to pick it up tomorrow..

      @@OleDadFishing it’s a great kayak for the price. Would definitely recommend swapping the stock steering for the Feelfree 8 ball system. You can use all the stock cable tubing so it’s a very fast swap. Would def recommend. I did a quick short on it and has the link in description I think. Also 3d YakDesigns seat risers are great.

      @@IdahoOutdoorDad I’ve already ordered the seat risers.. I’ll have to look into the 8 ball, seen several people talk about it.. Was thinking the newer Lost Creeks had fixed the issue with the steering..

      @@OleDadFishing they did. They lined it up better but their knob just doesn’t have the leverage needed for more than hour or so on the water. It really makes a huge difference.

    I actually just got this kayak for free. A friend of mine bought a boat and no longer used it. Had to clean it up since it was sitting in his backyard. How difficult was it to install the 8 ball steering?

    • @IdahoOutdoorDad
      @IdahoOutdoorDad  2 месяца назад +1

      @@isobozo it’s super easy to install. Just pull the stock cables but leave the tubing and run it through. As far as mounting take the side screws out of the 8ball base and use track screws to mount the silver plate to tracks. Really quick.

    Hey there. I have the 12’6 version of this kayak and wondering how difficult it was to install the 8ball steering system? Did you run new cables? Also planning on loosening my rudder bolts like you did. This is my first kayak so I’m still learning. Thanks

    • @IdahoOutdoorDad
      @IdahoOutdoorDad  Месяц назад +1

      @@Jakepilot123 yeah it would work totally fine. Just disconnect your stick cables and pull them out of the tubing then run the 8 ball ones through. I had like an extra 2.5 feet on mine so you should have no problem on yours. As far as mounting the steering I just got some track screws and used the stainless plate to mount to my track.
      The rudder loosening reeeeaaalllly helped just make sure to use two nut or lock tight on it cause mines barely hand tight and it really helped.
      I’ll drop the screws for track mount in the description now.

      Also considered the beaver rudder but I wanted to test out how good or bad the stock one is. Then I may look in to the beaver. I live in Florida and Kayak in saltwater. Do you recommend any corrosion resistant spray anywhere?

      @@Jakepilot123 yeah I’m gonna upgrade to never tail for next season over the winter. I would def spray the rudder bolt and the cables. Also maybe the prop bolt/nut.
