  • In this video Captain Cody is snorkeling a coral reef in the Florida keys. There are lots of great coral reefs to snorkel and scuba dive in the Florida Keys including, Fort Zachary in Key West, John Pennekamp in Key Largo, Key Largo Dry Rocks, Sombrero reef in Marathon and Looe Key which is a reef off Big Pine Key which is where this video was taken.
Footage is from an afternoon and evening snorkel trip. Types of fish shown are black tip reef sharks, goliath grouper, black grouper, gag grouper, yellow tail snapper, jacks, clown fish, queen angel fish, and sergeant major fish.

I know this is an old video but how often do you see sharks while snorkeling in the keys?

It depends on where you go. If you go to Looe Key you will see them 7 out of 10 times you go. At other reef locations maybe 1 in 50 times you will see a shark other than a nurse shark.

Thanks for the invite! Right now I live in Florida so I fish down here while also working on some projects. I do miss the Pacific North West though.
