Also the way a husky’s coat works is by trapping a layer of air between the layers of fur. This air regulates the body temperature, keeping it warm in the cold and cool in the heat as long as it’s properly groomed. The hair also will take a whole year or more to fully grow back, and you risk it not growing back properly at all. (Source: my aunt bred show huskies and I helped groom them. Fur was everywhere…)
I miss my husky. He was a rescue. The owners abused him and kept him tied to a stake in Arizona. The flies and bugs were so bad that they ate away the tips of both ears. After he was rescued they transported him to Minnesota 30 minutes from my house where I saw him on the humane societies website. I instantly drove to the bank and pulled out enough money to buy him and everything he needed. I live on 80 acres of land where he lived his best life and sadly passed less than 2 years later. My friend's mom found an abandoned husky on the street. She took him, brought him to the vet. He stank, was matted as hell, had a ton of ticks, parasitesand fleas and the beginning of an ear infection. The vet shaved him almost completely, gave him anti flea bath, removed the ticks, basically the full works. The husky was there for almost 2 days for observation before she took him home. He was quite old already and lived good 5 years with them- good food, walks, a backyard to roam. It was quite interesting to see and touch him while his fur was still growing in
There are muscles in the dog’s skin that help raise guard hairs (the harsher outer coat of a double-coated breed,) and allow for the heat to dissipate off the dog’s skin. When that hair is removed it changes the way air flows over the dog’s skin. This is how shaving a double-coated dog can make a dog hotter.

My rescue doggy, a chihuahua has a huge bald spot on her back, where the fleas damaged her skin to the extent that she doesn't grow hair anymore there (it's the entire area she could never reach to scratch or bite). Thank you for talking about this! Seeing double-coated dogs being shaved for no reason is so sad. It can also give them skin issues, damage hair follicles, and the fur likely won’t grow back the same, causing bald spots and patchy fur. Also it doesn’t stop the shedding. I once knew a beautiful Irish Setter/Golden Retriever mix, super long reddish coat, gorgeous dog. Her owners took her to a groomer and asked for a simple trim and this lady took a shaver to this poor dog’s whole coat, right down to the skin. Most of the fur never grew back. It was heartbreaking.

It's ridiculous anyone would even consider it in the first place, let alone go and do it without ANY research.. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to own pets

Contrary to public perception, snow dogs have 2 layers of fur & their skin is more sensitive that short-hair dogs. De-shedding is helpful when it gets hot. Not all groomers are trained in handling/shaving snow breeds. Removing the entire undercoat is harmful to them & may lead to skin infections from simple scratches.
Their fur keeps them cool in heat and warm in cold weather. It’s the way the double coat traps air. Do not shave a dog with fur like this in order to make them cooler. It will backfire.

NO 💀
If you understood the level of damage it did to the fur and that it's most likely to NEVER recovery the same it was born. Its it's own little rabbit hole but super important not to do for cold weather breeds.

Glad to see a video like this. It makes me so sad when I see videos that I know others think are funny, and people don't realize how traumatizing and potentially damaging it is to the animal. I'm usually thinking of all those videos where people intentionally scare their cats.

It’s hard to believe that there are so many people who think animals work the same as humans
It's ridiculous anyone would even consider it in the first place, let alone go and do it without ANY research.. Some people just shouldn't be allowed to own pets
I am pretty sure it was for medical reasons
wdym? my dog is vegan because it was a goat in its past life
It's likely due to them having little to no knowledge of how their dog actually works.
People would just use the information They have at hand as a standing.
@@SkyFireYZPets can't be vegan. You don't wanna end up like that guy on twitter that killed his cat because the cat ate the owner's hamster and the owner said that the cat is vegan but pets are carnivores so cats and dogs can't be vegans

I've been thinking of shaving my Husky until now. We're in southern Texas and I was thinking it would help. Thanks for the advice.
These poor dogs don't belong in warm/hot climates. What a horrible location for them.
Their fur keeps them cool in heat and warm in cold weather. It’s the way the double coat traps air. Do not shave a dog with fur like this in order to make them cooler. It will backfire.
I’m also in Texas and proud owner of a 1 year old husky. She was a rescue and I have no clue who decided it was a good idea to breed huskies down here in this hot as all heck state. However, it is what it is and it’s a learning process for the both of us concerning the weather. The nice thing is that I travel up north throughout the year, so doggy gets to experience Midwest/Canadian climate on occasion. It’s so much fun to see how excited my pup gets running through all that thick snow. 😊
@@Savedbygracethroughfaith_7 I 100% agree. However, I did not bring her here. I rescued her deep in the woods. How she got there I don't know, but she was alone and hungry plus as it turned out, pregnant with 5 puppies. After she had the pups I found a good home for them. I had her spayed and health checked. She stays in the air conditioning with me most of the time so she's pretty happy now.
@@graceg3250 Roger that. I brush her alot and she gets to stay inside with me in the a/c.

🎅🎅😺- Fun Fact or Close call, rarely disease/illness related.
🎅🎅🐡🥕- Close call and no injury, sometimes disease/illness related. Often seen as the "Decent Ending". Occasionally swaps roles with 🎅🎅🦀💵
🎅🎅🧚✨- A very rare sound. Often used in clips that are risky or dangerous, injury is possible. From low to Mild injury. Sometimes swaps roles with 🎅🎅😰.
🎅🎅🦀💵- often used in the "would you do this for 1 million?" Clips. Also used outside of those clips occasionally.
(⚠️No Sound⚠️)- the clip contained death or serious injury. Usually death.
🍎Hey Apple!🍎- same as no sound but instead of a video clip, it shows a short slideshow instead. Also usually more gruesome and grotesque than No Sound.
🎅🎅💩- extremely rare sound, used for only ONE specific clip in which one of the sewer pipes busts and covers someone in sewage(a combination of feces and urine)

Nah the shaved husky caught me off guard 💀
Blud really explained word by word
bro didnt finish loading😭
bro's fur wasn't fully rendered 😂
I WILL NEVER LOOK AT MY HUSKY THE SAME WAY AGAIN
Dogs undercoat also works in keeping them cool like with huskies. They won’t be able to cool themselves properly without their fur. Shaving a little bit of fur of any dog is fine every once in a while but you have to be careful not to shave too much
“Damn I messed up we gotta go bald”
