No point spending money on DRDO. You have to import anyways . The time DRDO takes to development anything , that system is practically obsolete.All DRDO does is gets brochures from abroad and copies those to whatever junk they make. Whatever successful was produced was done with collaboration or reverse engineering and not with ground up research from Dud research and development organisation.

@ There was a report a few days ago by French air force. The only scenario Rafael won was where it was placed behind F35 within missile range which is very unlikely as F35 is all about shooting down before the other plane can detect you.
Both are different category jets. Tejas series (Mk1,Mk1A) are light fighters developed to replaced Mig 21. Even Tejas Mk2 can't replace Rafale. Only TEDBF/ORCA can replace Rafale's role in IAF.
