My grill gave up after 8 long years and I happened to find this at target discounted down to $130 yesterday! It’s not meant to be an everyday grill but I couldn’t pass up for the price. It’s been great so far. Only grip is cleaning it out
I just bought this grill and was unsure how the propane was secured. You showed that, thank you! You missed firing it up, but not an issue for me. Thanks!
I'm randomly watching this video a year after I've bought and used it so welcome to being bored... I don't know if anyone else commented already but the handle in your right hand when you lifted it into the SUV, which is also the foot, flips up 90° when it's in flat mode by pulling on the two little red releases on each side. That turns it into a lifting handle that's symmetric to the kickstand on the left side that you lifted from.
Appreciate it. I have worked around grills long enough that grease, fats and oils find their way into places they shouldn’t always be. I prefer to be cautious so didn’t want to tell people that the grates are designed that way as it’s probably not going to be 100% proof. With the grill being new that’s a long term occurrence to figure out so no way to gauge that at the time of shooting this. I try to set good expectations for the long term. - Sam
I had a look at these Traveller grills at my Weber Shop last weekend and liked what I saw, dishing around for more info found your very informative demonstration. One thing I thought would be easy to overlook is that after you finish cooking and you're ready to place it back into your vehicle, you'd have to discard (or remember to) the drip tray otherwise once you've got the trolley collapsed and tilted and wheeling away towards your car, meanwhile you've got drippings leaking over the from the edge of drip tray...could get messy.
Appreciate the feedback. Your thought is something I've pondered about before. Really will just depend on the cook, foods used and how it's transported/stored. I'm sure over time this will be encountered but not sure if it's an every time you use/store the grill thing. Definitely a "D'Oh" moment if it happens though. Generally when there's a lot of "what if" scenarios and variables, I tend to leave them out of the videos. Good thought to always remember though to avoid further clean up! - Sam

Thats my only gripe with it though! It's a great grill. Super easy setup and take down.
Thank you. You can probably get 4-5 cooks out of the tank. I got 3 (all higher heat cooks) but we left this running for what probably equated to 1-2 cooks. Hey.. Such a good in depth review.. I'm more eager now to get one.. I appreciate you showing how it fits in your vehicle, so now I have an idea how it might fit in my far. Thanks
Probably going to buy this grill, as we've moved to a condo where the only grills we can use on our balcony has to be no more than a 2# tank, and I've seen several good reviews of this grill including yours. Do you have any suggestions on how to approximate indirect grilling with the single, wraparound burner? With our Spirit grills we were able to put one burner on high and the other two on low for an indirect approach. I'm thinking maybe the difference from one side to the other could sort of replicate that, or maybe moving the mean to the center and off the direct flame for the indirect phase of the cooking. Thoughts?
Just bought one last week. Love it, except for one thing: I had a lot of trouble threading in the disposable propane cylinder recommended in the instructions. The problem might be the safety clip that is supposed to lock the stand in the extended position when the cylinder is in place. It might prevent the cylinder from correctly aligning. Finally, used a narrower, longer cylinder (used on torches) and it worked well.
Never had any issues attaching a tank on my end. Things can be finnicky sometimes. The clip is close there so alignment has to be just right though. - Sam
I have greased the threads on the bottle and it still is hard to get it to thread sometimes. If you don't have it just right it crossthreads. But once I get the bottle on I love it!
I just bought one in UK and love how it looks, waiting to try out once I get the gas. I did notice the lid flaps about though if turn the grill while loading into car, a catch to hold it in place would have been a good addition. How have you found cleaning this grill and have the gas burners proved a problem getting clogged up at all? Appreciate your feedback on this, thank you.
Thank you. That’s not something I typically cover in these videos. This grill uses 1 lbs tanks so it should be rare that you have a leak from that. A hose is more prone to cracking, breaking or being chewed on by a pest over time. If there is a leak it will smell like rotten eggs. There’s a chemical in gas added specifically to help catch leaks. Great review - loved the thoroughness. I'm a newbie to grilling and thought this would be a good place to start. This may be a stupid question, but how does the lid closure work? Mine does not seem to be locked in place when it is flat?
I could see that. Trunk space tends to fill up faster than I like in my 4Runner just in general. It’s just my wife and I and sometimes I can’t even use the dang rearview mirror with how much stuff she loads up!! Thanks for watching and the kind words. - Sam

Hi Sam thanks for your demonstration was very helpful. In regards to the height of the weber did you find it too low for when you were using it to cook with? Could you please tell me what is the height of it? Also you mentioned that one would need to ensure those burner holes are not clogged up from dripping how often did you need to do that please? How much are the gas bottles that you would need to buy for it please (small one) Thanks alot
I’m 6’4” so nothing is really ever designed to sit at a good height for me. That said, it was a bit short for me but not something I’d mind if I’m using the grill just occasionally versus every night. Grill is around 3 feet tall. The burner thing is more precautionary that I mention. The grates are designed to cover the burner. It’s a grill and knowing grills, grease and fats find their way into every corner possible. Nothing big, I’m just saying to periodically take a look and brush off the burner if need be. The little propane tanks will vary by a couple bucks depending on store. Anywhere from $8 - $12 probably. - Sam
Great video. I just purchased. First time using any type of portable grill. How long/how much cooking time can one of those Coleman portable propane’s last? Also, can you store the Coleman portable propane inside?
Always tough to say. I get that question a lot on this grill and, in general, for other grills so for future videos I know to test that. Really will vary based on what temp you primarily cook at and for how long you let it run. You can bring the tank inside. We have them inside our store. I always recommend outside but your call. Let me know your thoughts on the grill once you start cooking with it. Thanks for watching and the kind words. - Sam
I wouldn’t keep it connected. I’m not 100% but I don’t think the grill will even collapse with the tank connected. Not something I’ve tested specifically but I think I tried to put it down once and the tank prevented it from collapsing. - Sam
Nice and informative, thanks. I'm really considering this grill but the fact that it doesn't have 2 burners is making me apprehensive. I'd like to be able to have different temps to cook different items at once. I guess I have to sleep on it some more. Thanks again for the overview.
Thank you! Appreciate the feedback. You can certainly use this as a primary grill but I would say this is not intended/designed to be an every night grill. For a portable grill, this is pretty good. For a stay-at-home grill, you can get a little more for close to the same budget. - Sam
@@99fps well that all depends on what you plan to use it for. The other grill I was alluding to is the Spirit II E-210. That’s getting ready to go on sale (Starts 5/25) for $399 through July 14th this year. That’s pretty close in price to this grill. For something that is staying at home, the Spirit gives you more space and you get two side shelves (one folds down). The Traveler is great if you’re on the go more and want something easy to setup/breakdown that is also more substantial than a typical travel grill. - Sam
Like really good video dude! Umm, question, just a question, did the wind have anything to do with that test? Just curious if those readings may have been slightly influenced from the direction of where the breeze was coming from. Idk bro. I really don't have a clue. Regardless, I liked 👍 your video. Does the lid have a latch or does it just sit on its own weight? Temps seemed to not really vary, short lid definitely aids in efficiency for 1lb users. Ill use the adapter I already have, ran another similar 15000btu bbq off a regular sized 20lb tank for years. That is the key selling point here, imo. They are designed to run efficiency as possible and make that 1lb tank last as long as possible, again, especially for campers and or occasional bbqers'
Wind can always play a factor but in this particular case I don’t think it had much bearing. You’re not wrong to ask. It’s very shallow inside the grill so it’s easy for it to be super hot but also easy for heat to escape with the lid open. The lid latches closed when the grill is collapsed. There is not a locking latch for the lid when it’s setup for use. I don’t think Weber makes another model similar that uses the same burner. Pretty sure it’s unique to this one. Thanks for the kind feedback and watching. - Sam
Thank you. We went ahead with the purchase of a Weber Traveler, bought the Weber iGrill2 to accompany it. First time using either and we were pleasantly surprised. To help avoid grease from dripping down we used a bbq sheet and it did the trick. Steaks were exactly as we wanted. Grill stayed clean and not 1 drip in the catch tray. I found, where we had it, the temperature regulation would range accurately from low - 300 med - 400 and high - 500+. This was a wonderful surprise for us all considering.
That's great. Glad you went forward with it and are enjoying it. Sounds like you'll have more great meals on the way. Appreciate hearing back from you and sharing your experience so far. Love to hear it. - Sam
I wonder about rolling it away with semi-liquid grease in the drip pan. Also, the left is cooler because the inflow of the gas is on the right. Since the gas tube is not tapered, there is considerably lower pressure on the left edge. If Weber wanted to fix that, they'd only need to put a tapered tube in there so the pressure was the same at all the vented holes
Thanks for the insight. The drip pan is just something to be mindful of. If it's full of liquid and roll away the grill with the drip pan installed, yes it will spill out in most cases. Just remove it and toss it out if it's got a bunch of stuff in it or clean it first. - Sam
Has anyone had trouble keeping it locked to stand up. I have to prop it against something to stand it up. would this have anything to do with the small portable tank that is inserted.
You can’t have the tank attached to collapse the grill. The grill should lock once fully lifted. Usually you connect the tank after it has been setup. - Sam
Grates should last at least 5 years. If you’re really good with upkeep, easily longer but there’s no exact telling since everyone uses things differently. - Sam
Depends. If you are collapsing the grill, you gotta take off the tank or hose. If you’re leaving the grill assembled, you can leave the tank connected. - Sam
Good review, thanks. Have you driven with this grill in the back yet? If so, any off road? Curious how loud it is and if the grates bang around if left inside.
Thank you. Only moving it from our warehouse to my place. When moving/rolling it, it’s pretty smooth. The grates have little hook slots inside that help keep it place. It’s currently sitting vertically in my garage and nothing tipped/fell out of place. I’m sure there would be some noise while off roading but couldn’t say how much. It was pretty quiet but my drive was less than a half hour on smooth roadways. - Sam
Yes it does. Someone else asked this question recently too. I have not experienced this personally. My Traveler sits in my garage collapsed and propped up vertically (which means if it wasn't locked that my lid should be freely swinging open.) I move it at least once a week to grill with or access my lawn equipment. The lid has never unlocked on me while moving nor have my grates fallen out. I know if there was an issue that Weber would take care of it. Their customer support continues to be top notch and is a major value add when purchasing any of their products. - Sam
@@justgrillin mine does this all the time, the grill pops open and the grates fall out, any advice on what we might be doing wrong to prevent it from happening
@@kristywarren2838 I would connect with Weber's customer support team directly and see what solution they provide. I would start there but that's probably fastest path to get an answer and solution possibly. Sam
It’s best to do that with the grates. Cleaning is pretty straightforward. It’s pretty simple. Grill isn’t deep inside so easy to cleanup anything that doesn’t funnel to grease tray. - Sam
Thank you, I bought one today for 399 bucks from Home Depot after watching your video, but it would be nice to see how you clean it up after done grilling, wrap it up and put it back into your SUV after that. I am requesting because this is the first grill I have ever bought in my whole life
It’s a portable grill but I don’t store it in my car. I only showed that as an example of how it fits in my car if I were traveling with it. When you’re done grilling, you can either turn up the heat for 10 minutes and use a grill brush to brush off the grates or do that on the front dnd of your next cook. Depending on how messy, you would want to take the drip pan out if it’s close to full or has a bunch of grease in it. Especially if you’re storing the grill in a stand up position. - Sam
There’s a small number of accessories but not cookware/surfaces if that’s what you’re looking for. Yes, I have cooked bacon on it. I always do it in a pan for easier clean up regardless of the grill type. It comes out fine on this grill. I use this tray typically to cook it: justgrillinflorida.com/product/lloyd-pans-9-x-13-quarter-sheet-oven-roaster-set/ - Sam
I apologize. Will certainly make sure I get that in future videos. Feedback like yours helps us make better videos. There's a red button that you press in at the same time you press the burner knob while twisting to the high heat setting for it to ignite. Once it lights, you just twist the burner knob to whatever level you need it to be at. - Sam
Yeah, you certainly could. The temp at grate level does come down whether you’re asking in reference to high setting or low setting. On the low setting, it came down to low-to-mid 300s. I didn’t check at high heat. That was about 5 minutes with lid up. I think you would really only want lid up to get a lower temp than what the low setting was. There’s enough control to cook lid down at the right heat setting for higher temp cooks. - Sam
Depends. If you cook a lot of greasy stuff and use marinades/oils, probably best to take it out when traveling. If you’re going to store it standing up, again probably best to. If you’re laying it flat, you don’t have to. Just varies on what you cook and how you want to store/travel with it. - Sam
Our answer would be no. Modifying it to fit in another housing would most likely void the warranty and there could be major safety issues relating to proper gas venting and heat transfer with the housing. We are not Weber so it would be best to contact them directly to ask regarding this. - Sam
They do not. The cover/travel case only fits when grill is collapsed. Probably have to buy a different cover, possibly a Weber Q 3000 series cover (would have to double check dimensions to see if it’s wide enough) as that’s closest grill in size. It wouldn’t be perfect fit but probably closest without having a custom cover made. - Sam
Yes. That is correct. It’s nothing overly concerning for what I say, I just foresee occasionally having to give the burner a quick brush off after enough use over time. I’m more cautious/preventative in my approach. - Sam
You’d probably be in the 2-hour run time range. I got about 1.3 hours out of the tank on this (cooked mainly medium to high) and it was full to start. There’s a little bit left but it’s hard for me to tell how long I’d get. Plus, I’m the type that once I question it have a backup tank ready to swap. If planning a trip longer than a few days or just planning to use at home semi-frequently, I’d recommend getting the 20 lbs tank adapter hose. - Sam
I got about 1.5 hours of use per canister. You can get more out of it, but I started it up on high for longer than really needed. If going for a weekend, best to have a 4 pack just so you aren't disappointed.
It really varies based on your usage. I used the grill roughly 5 times before it ran out on me. One of those times was during filming of this which was an extended run time. - Sam
Yes. I knew this when making this video. However, without something more substantial blocking the burner, life will find a way for stuff over time to get on the burner. Working with grills for so many years has taught me that grease and oil eventually find their way to places you wouldn’t think. It’s not a big deal what I’m saying, it’s just my take on this and I’d rather put it as I did in the video versus saying not to check that over time. - Sam
Sorry. I'll be mindful of that in future videos. There really wasn't much to see. It would have taken a lot more food for there to be a much more noticeable mess. Cleanup is just your basic brushing the grates and making sure the drip tray isn't full or is pulled out when moving if there's grease and such inside. - Sam
Can you describe what you’re experiencing better? Is it just not as big of a flame or is the grill not getting hot enough? Unless you have clogged port holes, it might be an issue with the gas supply not feeding the grill enough or the regulator managing the flow of gas through the grill being bad. - Sam
Hah! Has to do with the sun, deck color and paint color of house that I’m staring at on other side of the camera. My wife picked materials that act like a sun reflection when the sun is out. I can’t keep my eyes open long enough so when it’s sunny, I put glasses on for the sake of getting work done in a reasonable time. - Sam
Why you always pull off 5bor so degrees your desired temp it's call residual heat , people forget about ,plus you can always cook a steak more once you go to far it's a done deal.
I did. Were you just skimming through the video? Go to the 10-minute mark and it shows me connecting the one pound tank. I explain you can purchase an adapter hose to connect a 20 lbs tank but I don't visually show that in the video. - Sam
I would mostly disagree. The cutting board I used is a large cutting board in general, even on full size grills. I wouldn’t have that cutting board with me while on the go. And this is a portable grill, I don’t know what portable grill that truly offers large shelf space capacity. I think it’s a decent size shelf. I agree that having more shelf space is always great and a good quality to look for. But to my above point, it’s a portable grill. This grill isn’t designed to be a primary at home grill. Could get a Spirit II E-210 for around same price with more space. - Sam
What a joke. The fact they don’t even cover the burner is ridiculous. Weber has really nice $3,000 grills but their entry level and below is straight up rip off.
To be fair, the grates are designed to be the cover over the burner. I choose not to point that out because having been around grills for years, grease finds a way into places it’s not supposed to be. I don’t think it’s as big of a deal or something major to worry about. I tend to be more cautious in my comments and try to educate about getting long term use from products. This is a pretty decent grill for the price point. I like this much better than the Q Series grills for sure. Thanks for watching and the feedback. - Sam
This thing is a trash ! The lid lock is very weak and designed very poorly ! It closes the lid but when you drag it around or stand it up vertically . The lid pops opens and everything including the grates falls and creates a big mess! I had to return this after just few days of buying it !
Sorry to hear that. Everyone has their own experience with stuff. We’ve had no issues with ours and haven’t heard anything bad about the ones we’ve sold. I agree they could make a stronger/different locking mechanism. But again, we haven’t experienced an issue with ours. Thanks for sharing. - Sam

Thanks for watching and the kind words.

any chance you can make a review on their new traveler compact?
I will not be making a video on that grill. Only have Genesis, Searwood, Slate Griddle and Summit videos in pipeline this year.
- Sam
Thanks for such a great review!
Thank you for watching. Appreciate the kind words.

Great video….. Those are so MAMA burgers!! Eddie Murphy style…
I love the concept of a smaller grill.
I want to know if the 1lb.gas bottle should be removed when stored upright
Or when traveling?
- Sam
@@justgrillin Which one would you suggest as at the better bang for buck if I'm looking for one with the approximate same size? Thanks!

Great review. Thanks for posting this!
You’re welcome. Thanks for the great feedback.

- Sam
BBQ sheet?
- Sam
How do you recommend cleaning the iron grates?
Using your hands and brain.
Just use a grill brush that you like. I like this one personally: justgrillinflorida.com/product/outset-mesh-scrubber-grill-brush/
- Sam
Where can you buy more of the foil pans?
Hi, about how long does the one pound tank last?
I already had an adapter and use 20lb tank
Has anyone had trouble keeping it locked to stand up. I have to prop it against something to stand it up.
would this have anything to do with the small portable tank that is inserted.
You can’t have the tank attached to collapse the grill. The grill should lock once fully lifted. Usually you connect the tank after it has been setup.
- Sam
Assuming the grates are adequately cleaned after each usage, how durable are they?
Grates should last at least 5 years. If you’re really good with upkeep, easily longer but there’s no exact telling since everyone uses things differently.
- Sam
Do you just leave the propane in the grill or do you have to remove it?
- Sam
Can You Put Favorizes In This Unit?
No. There is no space whatsoever to add anything between the grate and burner.
- Sam
Just one for Father's day and one burner will it make it happen
Can you rephrase that? Will one burner make what happen?
- Sam
Does the lid lock into place when it is collapsed? I am reading several reviews that mention the lid opens and the grates fall out when rolling it.
Sam
Did you have to oil the grill with evoo before cooking? How’s the cleaning? Easy or painful?
It’s best to do that with the grates. Cleaning is pretty straightforward. It’s pretty simple. Grill isn’t deep inside so easy to cleanup anything that doesn’t funnel to grease tray.
- Sam
When ur done using it you keep the gas tank there or you remove it???
Depends. If you’re collapsing the grill you need to remove it so the grill closes. If leaving the grill up, you don’t have to.
- Sam
Are there accessories for this? Have you cooked bacon it?
There’s a small number of accessories but not cookware/surfaces if that’s what you’re looking for.
Yes, I have cooked bacon on it. I always do it in a pan for easier clean up regardless of the grill type. It comes out fine on this grill. I use this tray typically to cook it: justgrillinflorida.com/product/lloyd-pans-9-x-13-quarter-sheet-oven-roaster-set/
- Sam
@@justgrillin TY! I think I might need 2 new grills this summer :)
How do you turn it on? You did not show that, I think is important
- Sam
What is the clean like
With that high a heat, could it be made to cook with (and I know it's a Weber sacrilege) lid up?
Yeah, you certainly could. The temp at grate level does come down whether you’re asking in reference to high setting or low setting. On the low setting, it came down to low-to-mid 300s. I didn’t check at high heat. That was about 5 minutes with lid up. I think you would really only want lid up to get a lower temp than what the low setting was. There’s enough control to cook lid down at the right heat setting for higher temp cooks.
- Sam
One more thing, Weber doesn't list a replacment grill for this, nor burner.
Is there a common model it may share sized with?
I answered this when replying to your other comment. Thanks!
- Sam
Do you remove the drip pan for storage and traveling?
Depends. If you cook a lot of greasy stuff and use marinades/oils, probably best to take it out when traveling. If you’re going to store it standing up, again probably best to. If you’re laying it flat, you don’t have to. Just varies on what you cook and how you want to store/travel with it.
- Sam
can this weber be removed from the trolly if we are wanting to put it in a caravan pull out draw?
Our answer would be no. Modifying it to fit in another housing would most likely void the warranty and there could be major safety issues relating to proper gas venting and heat transfer with the housing.
We are not Weber so it would be best to contact them directly to ask regarding this.
- Sam
HOW LONG DO THE TANKS LAST?
Does anyone know if Weber has a cover that will fit this model if it is left in upright position? I am considering buying one for my condo.
- Sam
I just bought a generic 46 inch BBQ cover from Amazon and it gets here tomorrow, hope that works out.
@@antwhal If you think about it I'd really appreciate an update once you give it a go. :)
@@jonathanh6651 I'll be back tomorrow!
The guard for the burner is cast into the grate, no? Well at least no direct dripping.
Yes. That is correct. It’s nothing overly concerning for what I say, I just foresee occasionally having to give the burner a quick brush off after enough use over time. I’m more cautious/preventative in my approach.
- Sam
can you use it as a stove?
How long do you think a small camping gas canister like that last on a low burn?
With mine I just leave the lid open while I’m cooking if it gets too warm
I had no problems with mine. Never leave your bbq Unattended because, like any barbecue, you can overcook your food
How long does the tank last?
It really varies based on your usage. I used the grill roughly 5 times before it ran out on me. One of those times was during filming of this which was an extended run time.
- Sam
Thanks@@justgrillin
I know the Weber Qs always start really hot, first 5-10 cooks then they settle down, this may be the same
Thanks for the input. I'll keep that in mind as I cook with this and see if things change at all.
- Sam
Very nice video. Keep it with the good work!
How much does it weigh?
Good job god bless
The Grates designed to not let drips go on the burner holes.... your welcome 🙏
- Sam
You didn’t show the clean up the grill and what kind of mess is inside the grill after cooking.
Sorry. I'll be mindful of that in future videos. There really wasn't much to see. It would have taken a lot more food for there to be a much more noticeable mess.
Cleanup is just your basic brushing the grates and making sure the drip tray isn't full or is pulled out when moving if there's grease and such inside.
- Sam
Man, for that money it's gotta have two burners
Does anyone else have a low flame issue? And how to fix?
Can you describe what you’re experiencing better? Is it just not as big of a flame or is the grill not getting hot enough?
Unless you have clogged port holes, it might be an issue with the gas supply not feeding the grill enough or the regulator managing the flow of gas through the grill being bad.
- Sam
The question that we all want to know is…..why You take off your shades bro 😎?
Got mine at Best buy for 99 bucks
Easy to take evrwhere
If it were a gas grill, then why didn't you use the gas nor install the gas or some sort?
I did. Were you just skimming through the video? Go to the 10-minute mark and it shows me connecting the one pound tank. I explain you can purchase an adapter hose to connect a 20 lbs tank but I don't visually show that in the video.
- Sam
Your cutting board exposes the grills weakness: inadequate counter space.
- Sam
Give your wife her shorts back lol
"orfice holes"

- Sam
I don’t like it
This dude lost me at “ let me turn this grill down to throw these steaks on”. The hotter the better for a steak!!!!!
Coleman is better. It has 3 burners, 20k btus and is less money.
