big fan of your videos. The width tool(I'm on an iMac) when holding the option and click n drag, the effect works on lines, rectangles.....but not circles. It acts as if I'm not holding the option key at all. I even held command and that was a cool effect. It creates a funky looking circle and the point on the other side stays narrow as everything else expands around it. I hope I'm clear in my point. Thanks
Hey thanks for the comment on my videos :) The circle thing is kinda annoying, the only thing I can suggest is to try using the scissors tool (C) and cut parts of the circle before using the width tool. It depends what you want to do with the width tool and a circle though?
George Gomez haha it's impossible to please everyone and I'd also like to know why they disliked so I can maybe improve on things.. thanks for the comment George
I like the pace of this video as sometimes you just want to refresh your knowledge. Super helpful when you haven't used it for a while. More of those are welcomed. Thanks for making them.
Thanks for video! But this first trick with width tool do not work for me. What problem can it be? UPDATE: This trick works only if in Stroke setting stroke aligned to center.
I mostly knew most of these but watched the video in hope that I'll learn something new. You can't ever learn enough and what do you know? I never knew about the width tool tip that you gave. Thank you so much! May I ask what software are you using to make these videos? I have never done a RUclips video before and am hoping to come up with a tutorials on my Wordpress themes.
Hey Zeeshan thanks for commenting! I'm glad you learned something and enjoyed the vid, that makes it worth while. I have never taken any classes on video editing or that kind of thing, and I only use iMovie that comes free with my Mac, as well as Audacity, so basically all free software lol. I have bought a pretty inexpensive mic too.
Hi, Im having difficulty with my illustrator file, I have a whitish layer on top of my drawing. I'm not sure what I have pressed. When I save the image as PNG it saves without the whitisdh layer but I cant understand why it is showing on my Ai file. I use Ai 2021. would be amazing if someone can help.
I've used Illustrator for 5 years & literally know almost all the tricks..for the past year though I switched to Corel Draw & even though its a great program, I miss Illustrator & from time to time jump on it but the thing is I'm beginning to forget some shortcuts & processes :'(
If this is for Corel Draw then thank you but after weeks of self teaching I have come to be quite efficient in Corel Draw as well. I would like you however, to make a video on comparisions between the two that way I can refurnish my knowledge of Illustrator. Great stuff though keep it up 👍
Meli Midla Thanks for your reply brother, is it a paid version or free? I will look for it today to download, I just ordered a vinyl cutter, and a heat press. I’ve been paying a designer but his designs look like he just started learning. Thanks again and any info is greatly appreciated
While these are worthy tips, it is a stretch to call them hacks. Hacks are using things in a way the creators did not intend, while tips are best practices. All of these are tips. BTW did you know that if you cut multiple separate text objects to the clipboard, then paste them using the text cursor it combines the text objects into one text object? That is perhaps a hack.
haha ok then glad to hear you managed to figure it out with a simple reboot! Enjoy your weekend and drop any questions or suggestions down in the comments :)
.... This was literally just "here are 8 basic features of Illustrator I'm calling hacks"........ seriously how the hell is anyone using Illustrator without knowing this day 1 basic shit?
I have tutorials for basic beginner level, intermediate and some more advanced things. If you saw this video after just picking up Illustrator back at the start of your 'career' as a designer, I'm sure it would have helped. Broaden your horizons and drop the arrogant, short-sighted view on the world, mate
Don't try to pretend you were doing anything other than shamelessly farming views with bullshit clickbait... CHECK OUT THESE COMPUTER HACKSSS!!! *proceeds to show how left clicking a mouse works*. Bask in that shameful ad revenue.
If you're a designer, or dare I say a businessman / woman, you will know about demographic and target market, yes? My main source of viewership is within the beginner to intermediate range of graphic designers, more so the lower end at beginner stages. To such people, these tips are hacks, they are helpful and insightful. If you want to get your knickers in a twist over a single word in the title, then that's your gripe and your problem I guess.. How about you go and make your own RUclips channel, and do a better job of things then, how about that? This is a video in a series, and that is the name of the series that I fell on. The majority of people who have viewed it approve and like it for what it is, if you disagree then go and do a better job of it like I mentioned above. Good day 🎩😅
The color tip was mind blowing. I didn’t know I could that 😳
happy to have helped Madi :D
