It's pretty common for the mainstream entertainment establishment to look down their noses at science fiction, its associated with the outcasts and odd balls of society so is often derided because all normal people would be watching fucking soap operas and inane talent contests ofcourse.
Well that was thanks to the BBC dumping the show.. thank goodness Dave rescued it and we’ve now had a 2 part hour and a half special and 3 more Series and counting.
@@Right_Said_Brett You may be right, I no longer remember lol. Also, I said "Smeg" today in real life, not something I say often anymore, so it's wild I get a call back to this show!
Yes, although chat show hosts are expected to let each guest have a turn and to not annoy each other, when there are four guests all promoting the same thing, the host should regard them as one entity if one of the others chips in and it's not his business to interfere in any physical contact between guests who are on the same team as each other and who may have their own unspoken dynamics.
Loved Series 8...Chloe looks great as a blonde...everyone seemed to hit their stride in the show at that time IMHO...had a break but glad to see everyone back...
Awkward. Everyone is having to cover for the interviewer's off-handedness. Blatant rudeness towards Danny, at the end. You can see how smegged off he is by it, but does well to laugh it off.
"the special effects in last night's show were pretty spectacular, and a long way from the beginning" *plays clip that has no special effects at all because the smegger doesn't understand the difference between special effects and set design*
More ironically, the Special Effects had just taken a sharp drop with the adoption of cgi to replace model work. Which was a decision I totally understand, and even support (a comedy show on a shoestring budget didn’t need movie quality effects), but it made his comments even more stupid.
Chloe did great in series 7. Unfortunately, when Chris left for half of the episodes, the comic antagonism that their characters had was lost. In series 8, her character was made in to more just a stooge really. There was nothing wrong with the character being haughty and wanting to get off the ship, just like Lister wanted to live in Fiji.
She married Alec McKinley manager of Oasis. In 2009 a fan on Twitter asked Robert Llewellyn where she was. Robert said she was happily living in London with her husband and three kids.
@@brianbanville781 Ah that’s great to hear, you do wonder when these stars fall out of their careers essentially what’s happened. Sounds like she decided to be a mum. Makes her more adorable hehe.
Red Dwarf was once described as 'Steptoe and Son in space on acid'. The Young Ones has such a heavily political surrealist anarchical violent feel throughout that I've never felt that it shares much in common other than the same producer Paul Jackson, a servant type character (Neil, played by Nigel Planer, and Kryten), characters who each lack some attribute that another has and who are often emotional about their mundane life, and, to some extent, a high turnover of ideas from one episode to another.
BRILLIANT as Vivian would shout! Brilliant observation!!!.yes Cat is Mike "the cool one" Rimmer is (p)Rick! "Nobody likes You! Kryten is Neil. And yes there is alot of Vivian in Dave. Talkie toaster is the various talking kitchen utensils, etc. There is a bit of Mr Bulovski in Holly.
The movie idea never worked out. This was announced before series 10 came out in 2012. If you look at the filmic look of Back To Earth, it just didn't work. Red Dwarf only works well in its sitcom format.
Chloe's a nice girl and did a pretty good job but Clare Grogan will always be Kochanski for me. I thought it was a coup for the guys to get Clare to be in Red Dwarf as she's a bit of celebrity in her own right, fronting Altered Images and being in the brilliant movie Gregory's Girl.
@@Simon0 I was thinking since Rimmer's Hologram existence is due to silicon chips, he would go to silicon heaven with the calculators, kryten, Holly, the Skutters, the chockee nut bar dispensing machine, the goldfish and talkie toaster. Right ???

chloe was beautiful but clare grogan made a better kochanski. But tbh the issue was after series 7 the series became a parody of the series that preceded it. Lost all its class and became more slapstick and less about good sci fi plot lines.

Chloe was great in Series VII but really came into her own in VIII and then she also became like jaw-dropping gorgeous in VIII as well.
But the big continuity error of Chloe's hairstyle annoyed me though.
@@Onmysheet What do you mran?
@Ruple Thaker Watch the VII finale then watch first episode of VIII. It picks up where VII left off.
I completely disagree. Chole had an actual character in series VII, whereas in series VIII her character was "woman".

The interviewer totally killed the light-hearted mood by cutting Danny off sternly as though it was a serious segment. Bad call.

That interviewer was an arse! I would have walked out.
He kept on interrupting Chloe, she couldn't get a word in. And by what he said at the beginning he clearly has no interest for the show itself.
He's even dressed like Holly here. I wonder if that was intentional
Love the cast, dislike the interviewer. Imagine how incredible this interview could've been had Craig Ferguson been the host.
She's hot
8 Million viewers ? That's a fairly big reach for a niche SciFi comedy.
Series 8 sucked, but not as much as series 9. Series 1-6 were awesome though, and I can almost say the same for 10 & 11.
Series 9 was the pits, I cant stand shows getting meta, means they've run out of ideas, thank feck they got back to basics for series 10, 11 and 12.
10 was a return to form. 11-12 have a couple of gems but also some dire flops
