Thanks for watching this #jonboattobassboat video! This project was one of my earlier jon boat build projects, initially built and filmed in summer of 2021. A lot of my build process and fabrication techniques have evolved since this project, but this little jon boat will always have a special place in my heart!
This video documents the full build of a 14 ft jon boat to bass boat from start to finish in just 10 minutes. I call this boat a "hybrid" build considering the boat recieved an aluminum frame and resin coated wood and carpet deck. The build out of this aluminum boat shows a full aluminum riveted frame, a custom made livewell, full wiring/ electronics/ rigging, a resin coated wood deck, carpet, custom switch panel, vinyl wrapped cockpit, and many more details! I hope you enjoy this video of the 14ft jon boat to bass boat.

Two years later this motor is going strong ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBZWgzfpS2Jj7JqIHyaSZjyVHNUgCKCBf Just uploaded a video of it after 2 years. We use it probably a dozen days each year on our small raft.-original review- We got this motor the other day and tested it out. I don't have anything to compare it to, but it seems good to me. It has all the features advertised - the motor housing is metal. We will see how it performs longer term and I will revise this review if needed. Some initial observations:- Good thrust, moves our boat around really well- It comes with a circuit breaker but no switch - so there's no way to kill the motor other than yanking the connection off the battery. I installed an inline switch.- The mount bracket is plastic and I worry it might break- There are a number of plastic parts that I worry about, but the most important ones are metal or some kind of composite
Damn what a master of work.
Hey where did you get the boat from?
That was an awesome build. Really well thought out.
One suggestion would be. Use Nida core laminated with fiberglass and polyester resin. On a floor like that 1/2 inch Nida would be perfect. And would be about half or less the weight of plywood. And you can use a marine paint with some non skid additives. Or carpet. Merritt island supply is a kick but supplier.
Also lithium batteries are super light, but cost an arm and a kidney.
My dad alway built John boats like this. Unfortunately he didn't have access to aluminum like that. His weighed a freekin ton. Yours thought should be very reasonable for the added weight.
That was so beautiful. Brought a tear to my eye... one day ill have the money to go all out like this, i admire the handiwork
Super clean and perfection, awesome job Anthony
Thank you 👊
is there a kit or anything cause my cousin is letting me redo his boat like this one and i wanna make it nice@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats
Something tells me this guy might build bass boats for a living.
If “Measure twice cut once” was a person
Wait does everyone not do that
@@wyattyingling657 I don’t even measure once I just guess
@@StephenWickson lol
Do you do custom builds? Man I’d really love to have you make me one of these.
You deserve all the fish each time you are on the water. That build was fire!!!
Anthony love watching all your builds but i would love to see you do a 1448 center console build like a very tiny bay boat style
Beautiful work as always Anthony 🤙😉🎯you are a Craftsman!
Aloha
Serious question, how does all this effect the weight capacity, I know aluminum is light but all combined has to add a lot of weight, I have a 12ft alumacraft that I’d love to do this too, but it’s max weight capacity is barley over 400lbs I’m afraid that if I do all this including all the upgrades, me, my fishing gear, motor, battery, ect. Its going to sink the boat!
My thoughts too
Have a deep v 12 footer that I did this too. Upgraded the transom and made the front half a deck with trolling motor and a small 5hp outboard, and without the outboard it added around 120lbs -150lbs (conservatively) so about another person. It's a dream one person boat, but can comfortably do two.
If you are making compartments in your floor with yoy build as long as you add styrofoam it won’t hurt it
@@Holton-181not quite how boats work…. Adding styrofoam inside the boat doesn’t make it float better…. Yes styrofoam floats, but inside of the boat it’s only adding weight…. Enough styrofoam could help it float if the boat fills up with water, but we are trying to avoid that, lol
My buddy had a 14ft with an 800lb load capacity, motor, people; gear. He put buoyancy pads in the bottom and it can easily handle 1800 pounds now. Tiny ass boat and it’s loaded and still does fine. Even like 4 grown adults, 2 kids, a 70hp merc; a kicker, trolling motor; 2 stand seats, all the gear, etc. I’ll find out exactly what it was and get back to you so you know with better info. Give me a week or so I’ll see him tomorrow
Awesome build. Well done👍
Much appreciated!!
What an incredible build. Great job!!
I catch more fish.
Joe mama
This dude is a fucking PROBLEM!!! great build bro
Sweet deal, it came out dope! Thanks for the knowledge and info
Great Job as always.. A Dub. Question is that 15/32 plywood for decking?
1/2 inch exterior grade on this one cuz 👊
What was the cost for everything and do u build these for people
You are a very talented guy. I envy you for have the gift to build. Keep up the excellent work.
I hope ya business takes off u deserve it. You're a talented boat builder.
Would you mind sharing the cost to build this out?
Beautiful work!! Amazing build. It's too good even for the water. Keep it in the garage and just look at it. Lol. Enjoy your fishing!!
This is so legit. Well done
You built out a sick looking boat and functional.
Not to bad on the materials budget either! Thanks man
From the purchase of the boat and mods,How much do you have in the project start to finish..Thanks..
How much does a boat like this weigh
Super clean Dr. Jones! Finally a recessed seat mount, looks way clean. No carpet bumps allowed 😂
Anthony, did you reuse the middle pieces of wood that you cut out for the hatches or did you cut new separate pieces?
Reused but trimmed again through table saw to give reveals for carpet laps
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats thanks man. What size bit did you use to drill your initial relief hole for the jigsaw?
would I be able to do all the framing with wood, is it too heavy or will it rot easy????
I don't know much about anything lol
Wow, this guy has some serious skills!! Great job!!
Thats perfect only thing im wondering did you seal the top of the live well with overflow being so close to the top
I don’t know shit about fishing or boats. But this was awesome to watch. Great craftsmanship.
Very Cool
I'm impressed. Heck of a job! Very curious on the fish finder stand?
Did u run ur batteries in a series ?
Question ... why would you poly the wood first then paint ... instead of vice versa or just use marine paint ...???
Because I gotta seal it anyhow before carpet. Can't use paint under the carpet glue. I found it better to just coat the whole part, then it gives it a fiberglass like finish to pait the underside for a clean finish. Paint alone usually doesn't last and the wood soaks it unlike a sponge. This is the method I've found after many builds that gives me the best results.
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats ty !!
Did any one ask how much the material list was? If so, im sorry i missed it.
Dude this was years ago. I couldn't even imagine or price the cost now in this economy
Quick question, aside from the cost of labor, is this actually cheaper than a legit bass boat?
What was the budget on this
Crazy! I would love it too.
Anthony man, I know this is an older video but your craftsmanship and thoroughness on your builds is amazing. I find these videos so relaxing to watch, I guess it's because I'm not the one doing all the work lol
Okay Mr Jones, let’s see you do a 17 bass tracker “most common “ center console build. I double dare ya!
Whoooooooaaaa good job man
Much appreciated man 🤟
What a fantastic build!.... Be sure to put a little dab of dielectric grease on connectors to help prevent corrosion.
That was definitely a cool one saved a lot of weight with that aluminum but them 3 battiers prolly pretty heavy
Great stuff man, youre one of a kind
Very nice
hella of a build but interested in what kind of motor you are putting on it...
Hello Ant from Middle Georgia can you tell me where I can source some of those flush rivets, I see you using in your builds please, and what size do you use???
sorry for the delay. I use 3/16 countersink with grip range of 1/4-3/8. Available on tbnation.net
how much the full product cost ? :) nice done
How is the weight? Like when you move to the front is it all wobbly?
Id use something like a switch pro instead of all the individual rocker switches. Fantastic build, really inspirational!
Awesome build as ALWAYS cousin....
Thanks cuzzz!!!
Do yo build for other people I’m not that talented how much?
is it for sale ?
Wow. What a great build. You really out did yourself brother.
Thanks for the video. Awesome build.
Appreciate the feedback!
Where did you get the aluminum hinges and struts for the storage lids?
Smart & I’m jealous. 😎❤️💥👍🏼
Over-engineered, yes... Badass, yes!
thanks
So cool
How much would something like this cost material wise ?
Can get it on a pond....if the wind isn't blowing...
Arround how much was the cost of materials?
Nice job, but the internal floatation foam is no longer there and I'm wobdering how top-heavy the boat now is. It's got a narrow beam and the tipping point is now on top.
I've been doing this a long time. Never flipped one. It's not a kayak. I understand your concern, though. For you, I'd recommend leaving the foam then and having less storage. For some, they value storage over the possibility of flipping the boat. We did add 150 pounds of batteries in the bottom to offset some upper deck weight. To each their own, I truly believe it's an individual preference and decision to consider in their own project.
This has better fitment than a cyber truck 😂
this is incredible. i want to buy one from you
Beautiful, how much would one of these sell?
I’d pay to have that done to my 14ft Jon boat
Dude, incredibly well done 👍
thank you
How much does one of these builds cost you to do.
I need you build my Jon boat like that
I hope to have money like this one day
Any idea how much weight you added??? I'd like to do something similar but don't want to slow my boat down too much 😀👍
It’s aluminum so not to much
Always awesome stuff !!
Thanks my man!
Wheres the cheapest place to find aluminum for a build like this
I don't know..I get mine from TBNation.net
How much you charge to do this to mine
I don't do this for people anymore. At least not that style or price point.
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats That boat was immaculate dude. Wish I could customize my boat without making it look like the poor man’s version. Very nice craftsmanship 👍
can I pay you to do mine lol
No. Not taking any builds for a long while my friend.
Great build. Great video.
How wide is that boat
This is an insane build
Amazing work cousin!
Sign Maker ?
Yeah, lets see it float. Thats a lot of weight for a tiny jon boat.
Been floating fine since i built it 2 years ago, thanks
One of the best builds, I've seen yet
Would you be willing to do something like that for around $1,000? Because i have a 12 foot flat bottom that i need this done to.
Skillz!
Genio!!!!! 🙌🙌🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
so none of the hatches are dry hatches will that cause issues with the carpeting and wood>
No. That's why its sealed in resin and painted.
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats I dunno, I can't see the water getting into the closed hatches sitting there day after day week after week never being able to dry out being a good option, I would think eventually mold is going to be an issue
150 x 75 dollars an hour is 11,250 $
Yesnt
Super clean
Will you still be able to catch Jon's in it or just Bass now?
Bucketmouths only
@@AnthonyJonesBrigadeBoats lol. That's what they used to call my ex. Better throw her back if ya ever catch her.
