    The one thing I would be wary of, because of the unit turned off, is the possibility of the owner turning it off to see how you respond and if you are being honest. Things like that happen.

      Not just HVAC. I had a guy bring me a computer to have some kind of upgrade done. When we got it on the bench, it wouldn't power on. We called the guy and he says "Well, it worked when I brought it in." Thereafter, we insisted doing a quick power-up in the customers presence.

    Great video, but just one comment. ALWAYS check for voltage on the load side of a disconnect before using an ohmmeter to check for grounds, even when it appears to be turned off. The disconnect could be faulty, and one or more legs could still be energized. It's just good safety practice and can prevent a nasty shock and damage to your equipment.

    As much as I hate mini splits, you should recommend one for the office with all the computer equipment in there.

    00:00 Take it from a guy that road techs as well... You don't wanna waste 2 to 3 hours of you life in a car to get home. All you end up doing is arrive home, eat shower sleep. there's do time for anything. I did this for 2.5 years.

    Ive run into this before. No cooling call and the owner actually turned off the system. Luckily for them i did this same thing with an electrical safety check before even turning on the system. Didnt take long to realise the disconnect was just off and she fired right up.
    Call out fee applied no extra thank you

    20:23 that’s why it’s good to have Celine’s that are tiled, so you can easily remove them and put it back. A solid ceiling you would have to cut it just to replace all the duck work.

    I do like that the units are clearly marked with stencil text. I don't care if it looks crude or ugly as long as it's readable because it saves a lot of time to find the right item.
    Totally unmarked stuff sucks since you need to put down a lot of work just to ensure you are messing with the right device.

  • @AKStorm49
    @AKStorm49 21 день назад +4

    The amount of calls customers had to pay for me to simply turn the unit on and watch it work for half an hour is astonishing. I do check them out and try to get the units to fail so their money isn't completely wasted but it happens a lot.

So far, it's been good, but I've been really interested in the commercial field. Residential is just too much sales, unfortunately. However i unfortunately like the job i am at for now and i would love to apply to be an apprentice for you. Unsure what i should do chris ive been watching your videos since i started school and ive learned alot.

Even if it's never gonna happen, I'd like you to know, it would be an absolute honor to work for you, Chris. Keep up the amazing attention to detail and never let your brain trick you into thinking stuff like OCD is a bad thing :)

    I live in southern Riverside County more like the Murrieta Temecula area but downtown Riverside is horrible for traffic during the 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. rush hour and the 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Rush Hour I commute to Orange County everyday luckily I do it opposing traffic so it's still an hour drive with traffic it's 3 hours I feel you that 91 freeway traffic is just messed up

    I mean you could throw in a few decently priced minisplits with those four way ceiling cassettes. I think with Daikin you can pair new cassettes with older condensers, so replacement down the road is not that terrible. And those ceiling cassettes are easier to clean than the wall units.
    There are super efficient models available in Europe starting at ~$600 for a single split set. Sounds like way less hassle than replacing tons of ductwork to me 😂

That’s one reason l got out of the service truck 24 years ago was in service truck for over 15 years when started in service traffic was a certain time of the day .Now its all the time no matter what time of day & night it I was hour to two hours stuck in traffic every day .We were lucky company paid port to port l got off the road when company started to take that away from technicians serving live outside of lower NY.

They would email my work to me, have whatever I needed for the day ordered at a supply house near me. I told the owner that if you see me in the office I'm not making you money. That was the only good thing about working there.
