NEW* FENDT 942 Vario Gen 6 | WIKING ARE BACK !! | Farm review #88

Unboxing the NEW Fendt 942 Vario by Wiking, 1/32 scale tractor.
Will it be good enough and convince me to add one like it to the collection ? in short, YES.
With 415 Hp under the bonnet, this is new S5 900 series is the biggest available before the monster Fendt 1050.
The model is classic Wiking, functionality in bucket loads and very well finished. Like many new conventional tractors from the german brand, the wheels are removable with the screws covered up with wheel rim weights at the back. The interior is identical to that of the Fendt 1050 with a colour change and that easily missed folding observers seat.
This example not reinventing the wheel for Wiking but a return to the pre 9RX standard doing what it was they done best. Other brands are pushing the boundaries and with that models are getting better and better. Lets hope this 942 is an indication that Wiking are returning to making better, more detailed models for collectors.

Great Video! Thank you for taking the time to share! Quick question, I am new to the Wiking world of 1:32. Do you know if there are different versions of the 942 made by Wiking? I am actually looking to purchase this model, however, what I have found - seems to have a less detailed interior... almost as if the interior molded in a shade of grey, and a few minor details... Just curious and thank you for your time!

Thank you for the kind comments. Off the top of my head there was an agritechnica version, along with then the general release. Some aspects of Wiking’s techniques have become lazy and less detailed. If you look at the cab front glass, that black band around the bonnet is far too big so probably came from the 1050 models. I had mine painted black by 1/32 farming models ( found on Facebook ). He’s a wizard with painting.

Thanks Joe, that’s very kind to say. Yeah I like the 1050 especially on duals. But side by side with an S4 this 942 is a lovely piece. Much chunkier tires over the older version and ... if they aren’t big enough for you, the 1050 ones fit it too 😉

Thank you for the video 👍🙂 Missing a little bit of justified criticism though - for example the same cabine as from the 1050 was used without adaption, resulting in the black print on the front glass beeing much too high☹️. Also the weels look like from a toy, a known problemzone of wiking (especially on Fends) - only a few like the Fastrac have pretty good ones. At least they are not as narrow as those of the 939...
So far because of that I did not buy this model for a change, even though I like the original...

@manuel Gabriel , yes, I would agree with the above points. Only thing that changed between 1050/942 cab is the interior colour so perhaps somewhat laziness by Wiking. As much as I like my 939 black beauty, the narrow wheels are not suited. The 942 wheels which are wider are better, but not as good as putting the 1050 wheels on the 942 which looks just right. My only other complaint about the 942 or the Fastrac is that the detail under the bonnet isn’t as good as years past. If you look closely at the fastrac, the steering no longer transfers into the cab with a moving steering wheel.

Typically you have to stay brand 4 brand when it comes to compatibility. That seeder just happened to work with that particular tractor, didn’t work with other same brand tractors
