  • Hi, This is my 1934 build Gibson L-4 16" archtop ... for sale!
    I bought this guitar from Archtop.com in 2011 in order to learn jazz classics and western swing - and - I failed - too set in my ways perhaps.
    Mass music in Kansas recently had a virtually identical guitar called an L-7 (1935) which sold very quickly.
    When I got it, I had not been advised of the fact that there were virtually no frets left, which I remedied very quickly, and that there was a "painted out scratch of e fron upper left bout, and a small impact dent on the back with cracks abut 1.5" either side but there is no movement and no work necessary. Finish checking is minimal and the neck angle and set up is .. as good as it gets.
    I'm looking for indications of interest on this guitar currently based in the UK.

    Probably the nicest sounding archtop I've heard, and I love archtops. It also looks very Nice.

    Beautiful instrument !! Sure seems sad to let it go, but if it's sitting in its case and not getting played or seen, at some point it s time to make room for other things, or even just time to simplify life.
    I'm sure you'll find a worthy home for it.

    Hi Andy, do you know if the tone bars are kerfed or solid? As far as I know they were usually kerfed with slits, but they can be solid carved. This is a very uncommon guitar though!

    Nice guitar. Price? Will you ship to US, purchaser pays of course? if so, then I'll ask around...

    • @SillyMoustache
      @SillyMoustache  5 месяцев назад

      I guess that could be done. Price is the big question. An almost identical "L7" (in a lesser condition) was on sale at Mass Music in Kansas for about $7k. It sold quickly and I don't know how much for. I'm considering offers.

      I’ve attempted several of those in my plectrum playing days, I had a Gibson FDH from around 1938. I play purely with fingers now though I’ve done my own arrangement of Danzon, one of the Kress/McDonough duets. Maybe you should keep it and try some of that stuff?

    • @SillyMoustache
      @SillyMoustache  5 месяцев назад

      No, not at all. I have all the flat tops I want/need, but it is about a good expensive instrument that I never learnt to play well enough (In have two other archtops).

  • @andreasfetzer7559

    You should not sell it, just lern real gypsy swing rhythm(the 2 and4 have to be louder and shorter!!) And learn to play with the reststroke technique for melodies and you will be happy.😊
