    What separates you from many other popular RUclips aquascapers is that your wonderfully succinct and detailed explanations are perfect!! You don’t keep the camera on you talking, you keep it on the aquariums. You don’t use gimmicks, false charm, humor or lecture-style methods. Your editing is masterful and you don’t waste time. You are a favorite! Thank you for this video. It’s truly the best of its kind. Cheers!

    To hide the cottonpads, you can crush some pieces of aquasoil to dust (or simply use your aquarium sand if it fits) and dust it over the glue-soaked cotton.

    Hey there MJ. I can safely say that at this point I consider you my aquascaping mentor. I learned a lot from you and like to apply all I learn from you because you always say things in a very easy to digest way and appliable way. You also use the same brands of tanks, ferts, lights I use, so it's easy for me to relate to your setups. A question I have: What do I do with new plantsthat just won't establish... I get them to melt in the first 4 days/1 week of adding them in an already established setup, specifically althernantera. It's literally the 5th time I try to add this plant in my 70L tank, everytime doing something different (different position, closer to the light, more space, etc) and still no luck. Is it just impossible to add certain plants after the tank gets established? If so, I would love it if you can make a video about it. The only time I managed to grow althernanthera mini is when I first set up the 35L, at the very beginning when nothing was established.

    • @MJAquascaping
      @MJAquascaping  2 года назад

      Hey Adrian! Strange that you are struggling with Alternanthera, it's not really a difficult plant. And adding them into an established setup should actually make it easier. Are you sure it's melting and not being eaten? I know Amano shrimp love to eat Alternanthera

    • @adrianradu2332
      @adrianradu2332 2 года назад

      @@MJAquascaping Hey there! Pretty sure it's not being eaten because the stems themselves just rot at the base after 3-5 days, along with leaves near the base, after I plant them in my soil. The signs don't look like there's been "munching" going on, but I do have amano shrimp. Althoguh in such a short time, I should have definitely seen them do it if that was the case. I get pretty much the same behaviour with Alth. Rosanervig and with the mini one from In-vitro. They do actually grow new leaves out the top, so maybe it's just a case of let the plant die so it can be reborn in the new setup, but man is it heartbreaking to just see that whole beautiful red plant melt completely and I don't really have the patience for them to just die off like that xD. I am familiar with plants melting when getting established, but not to this extent!

    • @detlefh.7090
      @detlefh.7090 Год назад

      @@adrianradu2332 Hi Adrian, I just read about your melting problem, sorry to hear. Your plants seem to uncouple stem from roots. Something seems to be wrong with your soil and I really would like to know what's going on. Do you use substrate heating? Did you add additional fertilizer to your soil? May be your soil is clogged and doesn't hold enough oxygen for the roots/the substrate bacteria to strive? May be the soil became too acidic vs. the water column? Let me know if you have overcome the problem...

    you can start a tank very simply and save a lot of water
    just put soil hardscape and tapwater( for neutral soil only ) if aquasoil just got ro+minerals and filtration and wait 3 weeks
    no plants
    no light
    no water change, its the big deal ;) all amonia ... is already gone after 3 weeks.
    after 3 weeks, you are already cycled .
    change all water ,
    plants
    add light and co2 if use it
    and wait 2 weeks more time to plants start grow.
    can't fail with this method.

    if you think about the fertility of aquascape plants do you need to use additional co2 tubes?

    I've seen a lot of your videos. I notice that you immediately put the ottos in a new aquarium. I was told that this should only be put in after 6 months. Otherwise they will starve because there is not enough food for them. They don't hire permanent. What is your opinion about this?

    • @MJAquascaping
      @MJAquascaping  2 месяца назад +1

      My new tanks always get hit with brown algae after 3-4 week, so I usually add ottos right before or during this ''algae phase''
      If there is no algae for the ottos to feed on, I will either move them to a different tank or feed them with algae waffers.

      @@MJAquascaping Thank you for your response, do they really eat those algae waffles? I hear and read a lot that they don't want to eat them. This is because Otto's are wild caught, I like them so much, but I don't dare to take them. Afraid that they won't want to eat those waffles.

    Great video! About how many inches is the rerun line under water for surface skimmer. I ended up cutting mine to short and it didn’t work correctly. Going to try again.

      It's a CO2 dropchecker! The fluid inside changes color depending on how much CO2 is available in the water.

    Doe jij ook wel eens een aquascape met bijvoorbeeld filterzand en corydoras? Wil naast garnalen graag corydoras in mijn toekomstige aquarium en kan wel advies gebruiken.

    hoi Mark je gebruikt de eerste weken potassium.
    Is het een probleem om meteen met all-one van plantedbox te gebruiken

    • @MJAquascaping
      @MJAquascaping  Год назад +1

      Zou ik persoonlijk niet doen, zeker niet als je een rijke soil gebruikt.
      Dan kan je beter de eerste 2-3 weken helemaal niks doseren, en daarna rustig aan een klein beetje all in one geven
