    Very nice. I've been playing the tremolo harmonica since April 2020, and I've uploaded some songs. But I had previous knowledge.

      Hi VEXG32, if you have a chance to get one of these harmonicas then yes you really should grab it. I think the Echo Harp has it's own unique sound. To my ears it has a "Squeeze Box" kind of quality almost like an accordion. I've bought a second one since I posted this video, my cat did something unthinkable to this harmonica. I still have it but I don't really want to put it in my mouth anymore!!
      What I can say is the second one sounds exactly the same as the first so I believe the quality of them is consistently good so you cant go wrong if you go for it.

      @@Reeldin58Right after I commented I couldn’t let this pass so I bought it and I can’t wait to get it. I found it off eBay and it’s super clean from the pictures I’m seeing. I was looking for a decent key of G harmonica when the one I bought popped up. No joke I sat here last night for 30 minutes playing this over and over again with how impressed I was of the sound etc.

      @@pituhuirem6307 Hi Pitu, I have uploaded one or two videos on the Echo Harp and I'll certainly do some more. I've been uploading for about five years now on whistles and harmonicas mainly. There are one or two on other instruments as well. I don't think of myself as one of those multi-instrumentalist types, I just dabble in a few different instruments. Sometimes I think it would have been better just to stick to one instrument and try to master it.

      Thanks Jim, I'm enjoying having a bit of a dabble into the harmonica. There are some great players around who are doing things I could never hope to achieve, but having said that the tremolo harmonica is quite easy to get a simple tune out of.

      This harmonica I got from ebay. The seller got it back in 1982 and it had never been played. The price sticker was still on the back of the box, £32.50 back then. You can still get them, these days they are around £90. I was really lucky no one else bid so I got it for £15. I did get one at Christmas from ebay for £5, but that one was "Shot to pieces" the G side wouldn't play and the whole thing had an awful smell so I binned it. I love this one the design hasn't changed on them since they were first made in 1927.

    • @sapphirelewis1389
      @sapphirelewis1389 5 лет назад

      @@Reeldin58 It is a real beauty and has a lovely full tone. Well done for getting that. Bicarbonate of soda gets odours out of stuff but I don't know if it would damage a harmonica.

    • @Reeldin58
      @Reeldin58  5 лет назад +1

      Hi Sapphire I did try to get rid of the smell, but the "Echo Harp" has a wooden comb. (That's the bit with the holes) so if you soak it, the wood will expand or contract can't remember which one, then it would be no good anyway. I took it apart to see if I could get the G side to work properly, but then I couldn't put it back together again so in the end I chucked it in the bin. After that I was a bit more careful about second hand harmonicas from ebay. I did bid on a Chromatic G harmonica and got that for under £3. That ones really good but I can't play it. It has a button on the side which means there are four notes for every hole and that's well beyond me. You can get a decent harmonica quite cheaply anyway so I don't bother looking at the second hand ones anymore.

      @@sapphirelewis1389 Yes, pretty much the same. You can get tremolo harmonicas in minor keys as well. So far I just have C,G and D. all major. I'll stick with those for now. I have five harmonicas now, three of them "doubles"

    If you can play and record this 'off the cuff' then I think you can now play the harmonica!! Well done.

    • @Reeldin58
      @Reeldin58  5 лет назад

      Thanks Ian, it wasn't quite "off the cuff" the harmonica part is the third take and I did run through a few times before I tried to record it. There's a dodgy note up at the top end but I don't think that one is on the harmonica, (if it is I couldn't find it). I did copy your idea for the pictures when I put the harmonica on the laptop. I wanted a photo of the "Echo Harp" on this, as far as I know the design hasn't changed since 1927 when they first came into production.

      @@Ian... I'm a long way from playing the "Echo Harp" as there're intended to be played. They are tuned to play full chords at the bottom end, so you do a tongue blocking thing to get the accompaniment while you play a melody at the same time. It sounds great when you hear good players do it. I've tried,but so far got nowhere with it. I'll just have to carry on playing the accompaniment on the guitar.
