I know it had to hurt so badly, but the single frame where Cody reacts to touching the metal thermostat had me in tears. I rewatched it at least 5 times. 3:59
Hi Cody! For an authentic sauna experience, the temp should reach at least 175F and you should go in naked. Often we use a dedicated piece of cloth to sit on, the bench gets hot. Also remember to hydrate and get out if you get light headed.
@13:40 the look of genuine concern and impulsive camera pull away when Cody realizes he may have made Kelsey uncomfortable is a cute moment I'll remember when I inevitably die alone
I’ve been losing weight for the past six months or so and I’ve hit a plateau. Your videos are keeping me motivated during the ups and downs of my fitness journey. Thank you Mr Trains
Was literally in the process of sitting down to blow off my run today when I saw this was posted. I’m now getting my shoes on to go run. Thank you and screw you for that, Cody
As a finnish person I’ve never felt more represented than watching the sauna portion in this video. And the from the sauna to the cold plunge is why we swim in ice water after sauna in finland. Feels so refreshing
@@Trizon No, they are not. Never been to a sauna outside of Finland in any public place where there wasn't some kind of an automated system in the sauna.
hahaha i didnt mean to offend. but i just haven't seen anyone NOT use the "throwing water at the stones" technique. i bet you are very finnish and very authentic, cheesiestheadmaster2790
The slower long runs work. I’ve been stubborn about it forever. I’d run in Zone 3 and up every run up until like 2 months ago. I pretty much instantly broke out of a plateau and had more energy the rest of the day.
i went to a sauna in finland last month and one of the rooms they had was so intense that i only lasted about 30 seconds in it. i felt my nose hairs actively burning off. it was also pitch black so maybe i was just scared of the dark. the rest of the sauna experience was amazing, including the cold plunge in the gulf of finland all that to say i'm jealous of your barrel
Be careful going straight from sauna to cold plunge, causes unnecessary strain on your heart. You see the most benefit from cooling down to neutral after sauna, then doing cold exposure
My university has an open swim in their pool and I was the only one there, so I asked the lifeguard to play music in the speaker. I played “Bop-It” on repeat for 40 mins until the entire swim team came in and started jamming to it. Got a good as swim in that day
Cody! The reason you train better when not drinking is because when you drink it lowers your body’s ability to convert food into energy. It’s a diuretic and makes you more likely to be dehydrated. It affects your body’s ability to transport oxygen due to decreasing absorption of B1 and B12 which play a key role in oxygenation. Hope that helps!! **this is a very watered down version but I didn’t want to bore you with details
For my long runs I love just not looking at my watch. Just run out and go on the Garmin mile beeping. I just sometimes get stuck in a negative spiral if paces are too slow or too high or my heart rate is off. It makes the miles just fly by! Loving the channel and I hope you give it a go!
Good Luck Cody!! I am in my second year of college and I have been watching you since 2020. I struggle with staying active consistently, but seeing you constantly get better and evolve through running has been a huge motivation. Everyone in your Run Club is proud of you, and so should you be!!! ENERGY IS EVERYTHING❤️ p.s never stop making these videos, your content is the only one that I watch consistently
I am so excited to watch you crush the NYC marathon!! I live in Brooklyn, I'll hopefully see you near mile 11-12 (near Bedford Ave L stop if you know where that is lol). I've been watching you forever since the cody and devon go to white castle vine account. Your sense of humor quite literally raised me and you are such an inspiration. I'm running the NYC marathon in 2024, it'll be my first marathon and I've ran 2 half's before. As a runner, you motivate me so much to keep pushing and training!! Thank you for everything you do!
Hey Cody! Thanks so much for making these videos. I’ve been watching since the start, and I never miss a week! You have truly made a positive impact in my life as a result of this channel. I actually used to be in way better shape than I am now.. but about 3 years ago, I started at paramedic school, I got injured, had surgery, and then Covid all happened. Since then I’ve been trying to get back in shape. Last week something clicked for me, and I’ve finally gotten back into running. At first I couldn’t even run 600 metres without dying. And now only about a week later, with a bit of consistency, I can do a whole mile without stopping!! Keep doing what you’re doing. The impact you’re making is huge! With love from a girl in Ottawa
I love watching these vids! Great motivation! My long runs are always in Z1/Z2 HR, so I totally agree with whoever else said that your long runs should be slower. I've found this to be the best tactic for endurance training and the coach who developed my training plan has this logic built into it.
Have loved this channel since the beginning and I’ve always been a runner but have never done an event. Watching Cody inspired me to sign up for my first organized 5k and I finished it last weekend! Thanks Cody this channel is the highlight of my week!! Also copped my first Cody trains Merch as well with the run club hat!
Love these videos so much! I ran my first even half marathon last year and wanted to try again this past September but I was having a hard time getting back into training so I cancelled it. Watching these videos made me so much more motivated to run a race again and I am now starting to get back into running again for a half marathon in June! Also just bought then brooks ghost max shoes and they are so sick! Ran with them for the first time today and made such a difference!
Lost the passion for running as life got crazier, but then your regular uploads helped motivate me back into things. Gonna run my first 10km race this summer (southern hemisphere). Thanks Cody, ascend together!!
was thinking in the past few videos that this is the best cody has ever looked, so i was surprised at the end of the video to hear him say that he's been looking bad. bro you're looking great! good luck this week in prep for the race day, you got this!
As someone who also quit drinking recently (Sept 15th 🎉) I relate sm. I have chronic pain & it’s gotten less severe and I’ve been a lot more active without the alcohol. Truly makes a difference
If you’re really extra you can get into a neutral temperature bath after the cold plunge. Hot, cold, neutral is great for your nervous system (or so i’ve been told). You’re body feels great afterwards!
I had stopped watching the main channel a couple years ago (just my normal cycle of content, nothing against you) but this channel is like one of two I instantly click on now. Love what you’re doing
Cody I just signed up for my first 1/2 marathon which will be taking place in April because of you! I have a really hard time with cardio so I plan on getting right into training!
It’s crazy that cody thinks he looks old when he is starting to look exactly like he did 10 years ago with his new lifestyle. My guy you are doing amazing sweetheart
Just ordered a new lavender sweatshirt. Having to cancel my race next week because of shin splints, so really bummed about that, but I need to take care of my body. Anyways, after rest, we go hard. Secret to recovery is listening to your body I guess, but boy am I bummed.
9:05 Yeah I’ve worked at a running store and all the Brooks representatives who stopped in were incredibly sweet and gracious, they always brought snacks and provided for the staff
Did my first Olympic triathlon this last Saturday, I trained a pretty moderate amount and really surprised myself! The whole time I had a blast doing it and it felt so good to challenge the body and test its limits! Next goals are a few more Olympics with some friends getting into the sport, and I signed up for a half Ironman next summer! Hoping to do a full Ironman the following summer😎
THANK YOU CODY. Resonated a lot with your story and felt lost at the start of this year. Careful with the cold plunge right after the sauna. I’ve heard of people going into shock and drowning. Since your healthy you should be fine though
Still a chance of passing out though, even in the young and healthy. Personally I think it isn’t something people should do alone

Cody, try “Calm” powder before bed, has magnesium citrate and L-theanine. Helped me a lot with getting to sleep!
