I think it is better not to invest directly in small cap stocks, rather choose a good small cap mutual fund and for direct investments consider Nifty 50 and nifty next 50.

Some may have observed when nifty has given less returns like less that 10% but positive returns. In those time too small caps have been negative. So only if nifty performs more than 10% then it would be logical to invest in this moment in small cap.

Small and mid cap stocks will be more volatile as nifty going higher ! Not easy to control small and mid cap...40%up or 40% down may happen anytime ..but difficult to reach same higher level if anyone will trap in high price!!...2004 to 2007 time is past...all will increase aysa nehi hoga !!
