Dad always had K-earth playing in the garage on most every weekend in the 80's while working on our cars and fiddling around. My 5-14 yo self hung with dad often and this station is a big part of my memories. I remember being right next to mom in her room where she was getting ready to go to the "Cowboy Connection" with dad. It was a Saturday night when she won a trip to Hawaii and $1000. That was an exciting night to say the least. They each bought new Tony Llamas. I miss those days. Great times!
Christina Kelley sounds great! As Wolfman Jack told me when I had the pleasure of sitting down and meeting him at his Fabulous 50's Tour in Hershey, PA he said "You are now in the brotherhood of DJ's." I was a DJ from age 16-18 from 1991-93 at WCTX 92.1 FM Palmyra, PA the best years of my life for this 47 year-old.
@@christinamoultrie373 This aircheck ALWAYS makes me smile! You are a natural! Do you miss doing an air shift? Once an on-air personality, always an on-air personality. You should share some more of your airchecks on Ellis B. Feaster's Radio Channel right here on RUclips! Tell him Ron sent you. He will probably say, "who?" LOL
Great radio station. Super powerful signal easily heard down here in San Diego. ...And the greatest female voice today on FM radio. Christina is awesome. Love her!!!
People like Christina are becoming a dying breed and Millenials and Gen Z can't come close to talent like the lovely Christina. I hope there will be more talent in the future that can crop up and make radio great again :)
Excellent diction, great articulation with just about the most pleasant female voice anyone would want to listen to! Cheery and positive vibes just emanate out through the radio waves. I suffer through the ads just to hear that voice!
Wow! This lady is good. Putting it all together; moving to the music, a smile and hitting that mic for an excellent delivery. It makes me miss my days on music radio. Great aircheck.
This is the first time I've heard her. She's damn good. She knows the music, excellent board skills. This was 2008. This is mid 2021, and I know the music has changed at K Earth. They will need to move into playing 2000s soon if anyone likes it or not, they will stay in trend with the times. I remember hearing cassette tapes of K Earth playing 50s music in the very early 90s. That's gone. That 50s music moved to "Standards" and you don't find it very many places on FM. K Earth is moving on past the era of hits when I was a kid!
Greatest West coast talent. Excellent Voice inflection . very Professional Radio jocks.. Those moments Forever immortalized on youtube. CBS Corporate Radio same as Cumulus,Cox and others.. Pencil neck geeks that never understood radio..
Christina night owls and Ansomniacs like me love listening to you, whether its on local radio in Southern California or online in another state. Rock on KEARTH
Unfortunately the station no longer plays most of the music in this video. And they just laid her off along with Shotgun Tom and Charlie Tuna! CBS should be ashamed of themselves for what they've done to oldies radio. They did the same thing with the music on CBS-FM 101.1 here in NY as well, now its nothing but the same 80s rock songs over & over again. I swear they play Livin' on a Prayer at least 10 times a day! I'm 39 years old but still like the music of the 60s and 70s, so do many folks younger than me!
+PinePowerLI WDRC in Hartford is under new ownership. The AM side 1360 AM is all talk radio now.The FM is the "Whale" 102.9 Classic rock n roll....They ruined that station.Laid off a bunch of guys on FM DRC-FM... Oldies music...
+PinePowerLI It is sad that most of the oldies stations nowadays have such limited and repetitious playlists. There are so many incredible songs that get little to no airtime anymore on big-city stations.
Like many radio stations, I read on Wikipedia KRTH used to play songs from 1955 to about 1984 in the 80's. Specialty weekends were featured during this time as well. In 1986, the currents were dropped and the station stuck with the gold hits. Around 1990, the weekend specials were axed, the station was sold to Beasley Broadcasting. Mike Phillips was hired as PD and the playlist shrunk to no more than 400-500 songs in rotation. KRTH focused on the 1964-1969 period (with moderate amounts of 1970's material and pre-64 songs each hour). In the early 2000's, KRTH began adding more 70's and a few 80's to the playlist. I remember the 60's being combined with the 70's/80's for a bit. It was during this time I began listening to the station regularly. After 2002, the late 70's/80's were removed and the playlist reverted back to 55-74. The Oldies format was up the creek by 2005, and killing them was an act of mercy.
Mike retired in late 2001 and Jay Coffey took over the following year. He was succeeded by former KOST PD Jhani Kaye 2006-2013. I don't recall this heavy repetition taking place even during the Jay Coffey Era (2002-2005). The playlist reintroduced more 70's in 2006 and everything pre-64 was axed, but the station still aired the 60's and 70's with a few 80's thrown in. After Jhani retired in mid 2013, that is when KRTH really started going downhill.
The station is not what it once was....I spoke to one of on air people (under anonymity)...I was told they also "retired" Jim Carson...though he wasn't ready to retire!...trash corporate agenda...Jim was a Gem with his facts and history of Classic songs and their musicians.....glad I live 1,500 miles away now.
I was so sad at the death of kearth it spawned out of khjfm in 73 but they weren't pulling the ratings which means advertising dollars but a ,43 run wasn't bad.
As a guy who didn’t make it far in radio (I opted for a sure thing… 30 years with the fire dept.) I think you have IT ! You sound charming and sexy. I wish I had your talent. It’s no surprise you’re in the L. A. market.
Now that's a format if radio stations want to sell ads and get revenue going bring back the talk up radio even with today's hot 100. What you waiting for Disney, Cumulus broadcasting and Clear Channel try you make up for lost spots canceled and get a few thousand more listeners
I remember her on k earth 101 she's was cool
What a beautiful smile she gives us! So humble and down to earth--no pun intended! Wow
I love how she gives us that cute smile before and after she goes on-air.
She's A Real Pro & So Smooth, This Is What Being A DJ Is All About, You Rock Christina :)

Thank you Christina for your stints with Mcintyre on KABC. Nice to hear you.
During the top of the hour opening, I think that that's her voice calling the HD call letters after the acapella singing of the FM call letters.
Yep, that's me. Good ear!
Greatest West coast talent. Excellent Voice inflection . very Professional Radio jocks.. Those moments Forever immortalized on youtube. CBS Corporate Radio same as Cumulus,Cox and others.. Pencil neck geeks that never understood radio..
They don't play music like this any more. Those were them days.
For sure.
When I miss LA so badly, I hum to myself "da da dah dah duh" K-Earth 101 was my station up there.
Same.
I am in LOVE...there is nothing more sexier than to see a beautiful woman like Christina Kelley do her thing like in this clip.

@ John Parton, No. Shotgun's last name is spelled Kelly. Christina's last name is spelled Kelley. They're colleagues.
Not to mention the fact that Kelly isn't Shotgun's real name, either. Kelly is his airname.
