Carlos Vidaurri es uno de los compositores mexicanos más atractivos de última generación. Sus obras se caracterizan por ser directas, líricas y emotivas. Una de ellas es la obra concertante para órgano y orquesta Música para una Imagen Venerada, la cual cuenta la leyenda de la imagen de la Virgen María que reside hoy en la Basílica principal de Guanajuato. La imagen, misma que es una reliquia de la España medieval, habría guiado con intervención divina a aquellos encomendados a traerla a la ciudad de Guanajuato, importante centro minero de la Nueva España. Vidaurri utiliza los colores orquestales y del órgano para retratar esta leyenda musicalmente, así como la celebración que se lleva a anualmente para su veneración.
Carlos Vidaurri is one of the most attractive Mexican composers of his generation. His works are characterized for being direct, lyric and emotive. One of them is the concertante work for organ and orchestra named Music for a Venerated Image, which tells us about the legend of Virgin Mary’s image that resides today in the Main Basilica of Guanajuato. The image, itself a relic from medieval Spain, would have guided its lost bearers with help of divine intervention to the city of Guanajuato, by then an important mining center of New Spain. Vidaurri uses wisely the orchestral and organ colors to portray this legend musically, as well as its yearly celebration.

If my Spanish isn't too out of date, I think the title translates as "Music for a venerated image". And very good music for the purpose. Of course, as a Catholic myself, I do know the difference between "venerate" and worship". I played this twice, in fact. Once to just listen to, and a second time as background music to my daily Little Office Of Mary. Thank you for uploading this gem! Is this available for purchase or download?
+Harry Andruschak Thanks for the clarification. Although I've been speaking/wrtiting in English since I was 5 or 6, I was unsure of the existence of the word "venerated". I must tell you that unfortunately, it's only available physically in Mexico through the site of Mixup, yet they do ship to the USA; this work is part of a brief anthology of 21st Century Mexican music, mostly based upon pandiatonicism. Nonetheless, I think it might be soon ready for download in ITunes or Play.
