Dan is based. Not only does he avoid the gambler's fallacy by saying, "They are 50 individual dice rolls, and one doesn't affect another," he's fully experiencing life by taking 1/2000 chances with death to do the things he loves. NL is also correct in his own way, I seriously injured myself riding a bicycle outside just last week. However, because I agree with Dan, NL is coping and needs to touch grass.

@@Withing_ half n' half odds that I'll go 4 years in between bicycle accidents? I'll take those odds. Also, he can never reach a 50/50 chance to die because each flight only has a 2% chance. So no matter how many flights he takes it'll always be a very small (if we weren't using a hypothetical d50) chance that he'll die on each one.

A year ago I started riding my bike to work. I was hit twice in 6 months (nothing bad but still scary shit). Drivers should not be trusted, NL is based
As a runner, so few drivers when turning right actually look both ways and only look for on coming traffic(Pedestrians are literally suppose to go against traffic) or give me the right away when I have it. Had so many close calls until I started the expect drivers to not know the rules of the road.

The problem is: there's idiots everywhere. It doesn't matter who you are in traffic, there's always someone endangering themselves or others. I can't count how many times cyclists cut in front of me when I had the right of way as a car driver. A schoolfriend of mine back in the day was cursing cyclists when driving a car, but was the worst when he was on his bike.
What I want to say: a rule of thumb my driving instructor taught me was "Never expect anyone to behave correctly or see everything you do, so behave accordingly to prevent accidents. If you're unsure, just behave defensively".
In roughly 12-13 years of driving I never had a crash, although I prevent one at least once a month

am a childfree andy and i appreciate how NL has softened on us over time lol. i actually do like kids, i just don't like that its 24/7. like once you're in, you're in. like when i work with kids (usually at summer camps), i love hanging out with em. theyre funny, we usually like the same things, we have a great time! but i like them because at the end of the day when they start getting grouchy and tired, i get to send em back to their parents, where they get to do the hard part. and its great! and i'm perfectly happy to keep it that way LOL

"hot take: if you dont get the day off from work its not a real holiday" brother my job literally is open all year they do not close for any of the holidays if we're going by that metric there are no real holidays my job decides what is a real holiday by deciding when to stay open. so far the only real holiday is thanksgiving and that is only as of last year. 2023 was the first year this walgreens closed its doors for a holiday and it was for thanksgiving not even christmas
