I remember OG Aegis of the Immortal in Dota back in 2005. You can assemble the item not obtain it from Roshan. Once you get it you have 6 charges of resurrection and you spawn back in the fountain

Iron Talon was such a great item. Back then you could jungle with it on so many heroes. Ogre 1 point in bloodlust enough. Even Warlock Fatal bonds worked with it and you could jungle him

But since then, the armor changes, the beginning stats change, the HP regen buff for melee heroes and cheaper regeneation items already helped melee heroes so much. That's why PMS was removed to balance out all these buffs.

I still miss the Poor Man's Shield. That shield came from the start, where you can block 20 damage from enemy heroes by 100 percent, sure to be a powerful early game and mid game item. Necronomicon was too op as if you kill the melee unit, it will deal high damage on you.
Actually, the necro book is the one I missed. That item usually main item for lycan / beast master because their passive, and it is better option compared to dominator helm. And the Anti Techies item too. The book itself goddamn expensive as support item, since it come with pretty low stats bonuses, idk why these people grieving on that.
I kind of feel ring of aquilla deservea am honorable mention. They brought it back with the neutral items, but there was a period where it was so popular and then it's gone. I think it was wrairhband and ring of basilius. The replacement or equivalent other than the neutral now, is falcon blade. It's a laning item for carry that gives some damage and mana regen.
This is the content why I watch TI. Can't believe how well Pyrion is acting in this. Also can't believe that Sheever just ended the show with "see you in the Late Game" and the stream just went offline and no Late Game.
There was an item in Dota 1 called orb of darkness, that you couldnt see it in the shop, but you could make it anyways if you bought the items. It was like perseverance but violet instead orange.

Ring of Aquila was the best imo. I remember doing a drow strat once when i just bought up 4 of them and went mid.
