The non-Indian population were taken aback by the endless twists and how fresh and original the story was. This is a big deal considering Indonesia has the world's 4th biggest population and a massive market with nearly 280 million citizens. People in Malaysia and Indonesia are exposed to International films from Japan, Korea, Thailand, China , Philippines and English. They often watch it with subtitles . The reason Maharaja is successful among non-Indians is because of its originality and quality of screenplay and as well many in Malaysia and Indonesia praise Vijay Sethupathy's acting .
