I really love this as a guitarist. The whole band were incredible, especially live. But when I first saw them live, as a young guitarist myself, Francis Dunnery blew my mind. And Kiss Like Judas was the tune that that I tried in vain to learn :) All the guitar is so accurate it could almost be sequenced. The verse guitar riff is hard enough to nail, what with the syncopated pattern, pauses and harmonics - and Frank sings while playing it. The chorus riff accents work against the groove but rock. The middle 8 harmonics can barely be heard on the record but sounded magnificent live. And the octaved riff still ties my fingers in knots all these years later. I can nearly play it!
The octave guitar riff (not so much a solo) in this is great as it is, but when the synth chords come in underneath with the pdeal bass note - blows me away every time.
Talk about underrated I bought this bands entire catalog on cd 4 years ago what a discovery this band is catchy and intelligent with 80s pop hooks and 70s prog Rooted in gentle giant and genesis it bites deserved so much more and for my money frank dunnery is the Steve Hackett of the 80sv
So many years ago, I came across this LP, and gosh, I instantly liked it. It's an odd mix of powerpop and rock, with hints of hard rock here and there. Very nice guitar solo's are distributed like raisins in a bread throughout the album. For once, also not a high pitched bobo singing here, but someone whose gender doesn't need to be specified... This should have been a big hit for this band, there was so much rubbish in the charts in those days, but hey, there's rarely justice in this field, so many nice efforts who never get rewarded.... 358 views, 6 thumbs up, come on... And what kind of debilities attract millions of viewers sometimes.... ? Poor poor silly world tsss tssss.....
Was lucky enough to see these in 1987 at Sheffield Uni - They were awesome. To be honest I think too talented for the time as (Pump up the jam era had started, and that was the end of real music)
I discovered this band when I was expecting my child. She is 28 years old now. What a treat she had listening to this!
Great band...great album...great live!
Agreed on all.
Underrated as fuck! Wonderos music, so crisp, technical and emotional at the same time! I miss you!! Thank you for this song!
+Pia Nyström Way ahead of their time!

@@Retroscoop One of their other songs (Calling All The Heroes) reached number 6 in The U.K. It's great!
He sings on a Steve Hackett album doing all Genesis and he sounds just like Peter Gabriel

Brilliant track !
One of the BEST Progrock bands ever and melody makers. Sing along kids😎
This song was about Quasimodo, being kissed by Esmeralda. Pity it wasn't a hit, as it was released as a single.
