Leadfoot ended up being one of my favorite DOTM toys so far. You're absolutely right that his official robot mode is ghastly and derptacular. However, his sheer complexity saves him. After a full day of fiddling, I'd gotten him into a mode that's screen-accurate, stable, looks fantastic and has no articulation issues. So, from crap springs a diamond. Don't give up on him yet! Also, you can ball Steeljaw up and make him a medieval mace with that chain of his. Very recommended.

Oh, one more thing! I don't know if you meant to mention this in a follow-up video, but you can attack Steeljack to the back of LF's arm via that post on SJ into the hole on LF's forearm so he's got a G1 Meg'-esque cannon. SJ's legs also condense like G1Steeljaw's cassete mode and you're left with a tiny bit more condensed figure (the front legs slip under the hind legs, and the hind paws fit over the front at the hinge) so that might help the overall look as a wrist or shoulder weapon.

The instructions were of dubious help first time I used them & your alternate mode does look better. One thing I did different was rotate the chest wheels back to the sides of the figure & flipped up the Impala grill. LF's wearing most of his front on his chest, but so did Prowl/Sideswipe/etc & it doesn't look like he's got 'Git in ma belly!' syndrome as bad

I saw someone on RUclips named gau821 with his own alternate version. I want to see what I can find for myself to make him look good. Got the reprolabels coming up too! TF's are puzzles, so I think he won't disappoint in that department.

To make him look a little more CGI accurate, I keep the waist facing the other way, fold the legs up so the knees are facing the backpack, fold the shins down and turn the feet around at the swivle. It gives him that small, short leg look in the movie.
Sideswipe is seriously the most overrated Autobot along with Bumblebee. I don't get why everyone is so obsessed about him. I've seen numerous threads on forums on how Sideswipe was alive and they want him back, etc. Guys, he's dead just like the others. Please learn to deal with it.

The figure actually isn't bad. I of course do have trouble with the cumbersome transformation, but there's a LOT you can do to make this figure look great. It's kind of like a blank slate. So if you have no imagination, and like transformers for EXACTLY what they are straight out of the box, it's not for you. But if you're willing to make a few tweaks, it really is a wonderful figure.
leadfoot is the weapons engineer. he should have a weaponized mode like roadbuster. its like before, ironhide didnt have a toy that became a gun but for some reason ratchet did.

Im Pretty Sure youve Found Out/Heard by Now(but justincase....)...that Steeljaw Does Indeed fit in that little Hollow-space...its pretty much Leadfoot's Weapon Storage....
my guess for the difference in plastic is becouse its a exclusive and they didnt expect people to actually play with it becouse i'll be valuable in a few years unopened..the heavier plastic is prolly more rugged and weighty to have kids play hard with them. just my thoughts but i noticed the plastic change also

You know, just thinking, the Wreckers were worrying people at first because their designs deliberately evoked pop culture stereotype of the so-called "average NASCAR fan." We were relieved to see that in the film, they instead became combat engineers with English (Leadfoot) and Scots (Roadbuster) accents. But seeing that intelligence rating so low makes me wonder if the accents and the 'engineer' bit got worked into their bios later, after the characters, toys and tech specs were designed...?
After trying different alternations, i have to say the version i created now makes him a nice movie acurate figure. you can face the wheels more downwards, which gives him more the big belly as he has in the movie. Now i do like this figure! :)
That spot on your left index finger, I hope that heals up soon. Also I think steeljaw pegs in on the forearm, in that huge, absolutely obvious hole that the peg looks like it fits into.
I do agree with a lot of your points about this figure but you have to cut hasbro slack about Steeljaw considering they stated on the back of the box and the instructions that he was a Mech Tech weapon that pegs into his arms and on his shoulders and you didn't mention that in the review.

I like HA Leadfoof . And I really don't care about the unamered vehicle mode because it looks better even cooler without one.
as far as the gun handle is conserned, it looks like there is a peg hole on the outsides of both hands, that would allow you to peg the gun in there.
