Henry that was a very interesting video, as a former Movements Inspector (That's someone who tests signalman on their ability to operate a signal box safely), I can fill you in on a few details. The Signal with a cross on it is a stop signal with a route indicator, the arm comes off when the signalman selects one of the routes with the route name displayed (e.g. Main, Branch, Loop, Goods, Spur, Siding, Back Road, being examples of what might be displayed) this then enables the driver to check that the route set is the one he requires. The interlocking is designed to enable the signalman to pull off all non conflicting routes at the same time but prevent any conflicting routes from being set up. The number at the top of the lever plate tells you what item it controls as seen on the track Diagram below it are numbers of other levers (up to four) of levers required to be pulled first before that lever can be pulled until then it would be locked in the lever frame. For example Lever 55 might read Down Main Inner Home to Branch Loop 26 40 48 49 that means you would have to start by pulling 26 which might have other levers you have to pull to reverse that one (again up to four) the same being so for 40 and 48 and 49. It would not be unknown that you might have to pull forty other levers to be able to pull 55. But you would need to pull them in the correct order and all of them before the locking would allow you to pull 55. The colours of the lever tell you what is being controlled by it, Red for Stop Signals, Yellow for Distant Signals, Black for Points and Blue for Facing Point Locks or Fouling Bars being the most common. The Distant Signal can only be pulled when all the Stop Signals that in advance of it, Home, Inner Home, Starting and Advanced Starting have been pulled first and in that order. If you want any other questions answered please send me a message. Andrew.

It’s much well done all in all, I hope you keep well, and safe and have a amazing/wonderful and a blessed week. :) 🍀🤞✊
Was looking for a video about this railway and I found yours, fantastic vid Henry. Sold ! I'm going to plan a visit - I'm a bit obsessed with class 68s at the moment so I'll that in too 😊 Thanks for the info.
Another wonderful masterpiece! Happy New Years! Hope you enjoyed making this video, had a very happy holiday season and a great 2022! Keep persevering, enduring and striving with your outstanding work and efforts that you do greatly and pay off with optimism! I wish you and your family nothing but all the best of everything and have a blessed, amazing, cheerful, safe, healthy and a positive year! 🙂🍀🤞🎉
Excellent video! Very informative and interesting. Seeing the interlocking underneath the signal box in particular was interesting. Nice to see the CRRC built wagons as well, I don't think there's much Chinese built rolling stock in the UK!
Its a shame so many signal boxes have been demolished but we can be grateful to the efforts of the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway for their hard work in restoring this one.
I was lucky enough to be shown around that signal box when I was there last year. I got a decent shot of the 37 on that path down to the signal box. (ruclips.net/video/fDQmJIwe9sY/видео.html). Their steam loco for next year is 4144 on loan from Didcot 🙂
Thank you for watching, glad to hear you've also been inside the box. I'll have a look at your video. I'm looking forward to 4144 visiting, she's a winning loco for me. :)
Henry ..may I just say I don’t want to see your face I would like to see what you are talking about …. Do the whole video again please would dearly like to see in the box , you missed all the interesting bits of the box , like up above the route map of princes risborough station points and signal … and a closer look at the levers …… you will get more people looking at your videos…kind regards ted
The signal box has undergone massive structural work externally. A story in itself. New windows ,brickwork and steps in addition to the levers and frame and inside renovation. It was almost a lost cause. Amazing what the volunteers have accomplished over the last few years
Thank you for watching! This is my style of video and if you have a look at the rest of the comments you'll see you're the only person who isn't satisfied with this video. Regarding doing the whole video again, it cost me quite a lot to make this video, train fares and petrol ect so I'm certainly not going to rerecord this one just because you don't like it. On the other had a number of my videos I don't talk in, I simply put a caption to explain what is happening so maybe you'll find these videos of mine more to your liking. Do check out my video from the Downpatrick & County Down Railway Diesel Gala last Saturday, I'm sure you'll enjoy it and I promise you won't see me!
@@boblovell5789 Thank you for watching! The volunteers have certainly done a fantastic job in restoring the signal box and the branch to Chinnor. Hats off to them.

Very nice Henry. There's nothing quite like an old mechanical signal box.
Thank you for joining me! I could spend all day in that signal box.

Thank you for watching! Interesting place to visit.
Them old Lada Sheguilis as the Russians call them get everywhere. Very well presented. You're from Micklefield?
Thank you for watching! No, but if you're taking about Micklefield, High Wycombe there is a Lada the same as mine but its a darker red.
Pannier tank 6412 was the Flockton flyer in the BBC children TV show of the same name in the 1970’s
Thank you for watching. I didn't know that, thank you for the information.

At 5 37 Was the front carraige of that a Classic Metropolitan Railway Company carraige?
No, its just a standard Mark 1 but someone's put a London Underground roundel on for a joke.
@@HenrysAdventures Ahh. Because if it was i was like 100 percent not proper and aint been refurbed properly, Thankyou for the reply!
The signal box should be kept as it is and not to be demolished. Whilst other older signal boxes have been demolished.

While a commend this brilliant video, do you really need to keep yourself in view. We would see a lot more detail of what you're actually looking at.
Thank you for watching. I'm glad you enjoyed most of it. Its just my style, I do also make quite a few videos of just trains where I don't feature.
