    A have an old Fuji 3D camera and was looking for a 4K replacement. But I see now this is not as simple as putting two cameras together. Thank you for the video.

    I use two generic "gopros" in a 3d printed case. I prefer the wider spacing (close to actual eye spacing), so just use them side by side. As long as you don't shoot things that are too closeup, then that spacing works just fine. I also have a 65 inch passive 4k 3d TV, so don't need to use anaglyph, but get to use my polarized 3d glasses. Use Vegas for editing, as it does most formats of 3d. Just put both clips in the timelines. It can make anaglyph if you want, but I use the side by side method form my TV.
    I also built a 3d viewer using a Sony Xperia Z5 Premium phone which has a 4K screen.

      Where did you get this printed case from? And which cameras are you using and how do you sync them? I have an LG 65 inch 4K 3D TV. Too bad that they all stopped 3D. 3D is the only reason why I use this TV. It has a great 2D to 3D conversion as long as the resolution is high enough.

      @peterstindl5003 Apeman A77 cameras. 3d printed my own case. Just start them roughly at the same time then sync it to the nearest frame when editing. So, I always shoot at 60fps to allow for closer syncing.

      @@my3dviews I will build something too and at one camera the option that I can adjust the horizontal and vertical alignment with screws. My biggest fear is that my 3D TV dies. No option to replace it with a new 3D TV...

    Wide angle lenses, like gopros, are not optimal for 3D (unless its VR180). It would be easier to use Vegas for editing since it has built in 3D support. 28 mm separation is very small. Works well with closeups/indoor shooting. But for any other situation you need more separation. Human eyes can see depth effectively to about 15 meters. After that it diminishes very rapidly. So I would recomend a separation of 65mm. Building your own rig is obviously satisfying and a learning experience. For someone who just wants to shoot, a qoocam ego, weeview sid or a second hand fujifilm W3 is probably a better option.

    Cool videro! Very helpful! Do you have the same but modified for VR 65 distance between the lenses for newer gopro? such as hero 11 o hero 12?

      Thank you. I have not tried to do the same with the GoPro’s 10 11 or 12.

    Did you ever create the full video? It would have been interesting to hear about the results.

    Hi, great video! When you make an adjustment to 1 clip ( x / y / z axis ) won’t this leave black bars on the edges of the frame? Or do you just crop in a bit in the end to “ fill the frame “ ?

    • @North3rdMedia
      @North3rdMedia  3 месяца назад

      Yes, crop in as much as needed +1

    Im thinking of building a rig combining two Hero Black 11. I wonder how you manage to framesync the two cameras. Does it work to just trigger them with the remote? The Hero 3 + had a cable for sync and i couldnt find any information about framesync with modern GoPros

    • @North3rdMedia
      @North3rdMedia  Год назад

      Hi, the remote is very likely not going to start the two cameras exactly, can be a couple frames out, so at 4:22 and 6:46 points in video I explain how I fix this issue. The remote is mainly a convenience tool and not jog the rig.

      @@North3rdMedia that is not enough if you film people and watch it in vr. i tried. my solution is a mechanic thing to press the start buttons at the same time.

    I have a gopro 9 can I use another 9 or should I go with lesser go pros? And i must hav3e final cut also.

    • @North3rdMedia

      You use two GoPro9’s. The post edit software can be anything that supports at least layers and colour blending of those layers.

      The 3D GoPro cage I used will only work for Hero8 and lower due to their size.
