    It's hard to imagine that an instrument as small as the Kala U-Bass can churn out such convincing bass tones. These Ukulele-sized basses give players a whole new way to get down with acoustic, electric and acoustic-electric variations. In this demo, our pal Rob Scallon plucks, slaps and taps his way all up and down the Kala U-Bass and shows us what this little package has in store.

    A thing I learned with these is tuning them. DO NOT just turn the knob. No difference will be heard. You have to make large turns, and then lift up the strings. If you just turn it, it will damage the bass and will frick up a tuner. Let’s just say I that learned the hard way. Luckily I got it fixed by a professional.

    • @Specket
      @Specket Год назад

      do you make the large turns, and then lift the string? or at the same time?

    • @eliptikstudios8996
      @eliptikstudios8996 Год назад

      @@Specket I've always done it by turning, then pulling up. me from 3 years ago was a bit overbearing about the largeness of the turns, just turn a bit more than you would a normal guitar.

    But I don't get it. Why get a U-bass? I mean you can kinda get an upright sound for peanuts, but isn't that about it? It's useless as an acoustic instrument. What do youtube U-bass'ers say? What do you use it for?

      As you said, upright like sound, convenient size for travel, acoustic so you can practice without an amp, but some are acoustic - electric and people gig with them. They aren't half bad.

    Hey! How would you rate the Luna Bari-Bass Fretless in comparison to the Kala Fretless? I picked up the Luna since its a 100$ cheaper than the cheapest Kala fretless (which is 400$ currently). I do love the look of the Luna Bari Bass - it has a nice laminated Koa which I believe reflects sound well. However, I am still in a position to return it and maybe pick up a Kala (Though that is quite a headache, as it is going to be a good 100 bucks more) - . What do you suggest ?PS This is my first experience with the Bass of any kind. Thanks :)
