My mom asked if I could make her a bag for her trip to Hawaii this year, and I knew I’d find something great in your catalog! Super easy and super cute!
For anyone wanting to use a different size yarn and keep the same size (or maybe make a larger/smaller bag), I’ve discovered that the same stitch is used in the Saltwater Afghan, and Toni’s “Clawfoot Stitch Tutorial” says to start with any multiple of 2.
I JUST got my Happy Place yarn, and it is so unbelievably soft. I cannot believe how nice it is, especially for the price. You knocked it out of the park with this collab, Toni! Hobbii is lucky to have you -- I have never bought from them before, and I would again (more Happy Place, if it's available!) because this yarn is so nice
I just finished my own On the Go bag today using Happy Place Melange in the color Cinnamon. It’s my 30th birthday and I couldn’t imagine a better birthday present to myself! Thank you Toni for all of your help and I can’t wait to make another one of your patterns soon 😊
This is a cute and practical bag. The design would also work well with different fibers (think plastic or hemp) to make durable market bags. I love it.😁
I just finished this bag with the base and the SC around handles in different color for cool accents. I can't believe how fast I finished this (yay I finished). I'm going to use to cart a round my planner and supplies I need for work that are an awk shape
Love this so much! Didn't do the bottom part so I stitched both sides together. Looks great! I can adjust the strap width too and make the bag how big or small I want. Thank you!!!
I am definitely making this ASAP. Been looking for a bag design that can hold all my things and still have good shoulder support and this looks PERFECT. Excited to try yout yarn as well!
I have a question, do i need 4 skeins or 8, in her video she said 4 but she also double the yarn as well. Im new to this so Im still trying to understand technique ?
The tote is too cute. Because crochet totes tend to sag, I would suggest instead of single crocheting the edge of the opening, crochet the slip stitch. Doing so will prevent the sag/stretch of the opening.
Oh no I just promised myself out loud in front of my whole family I would not be buying any more yarn cause I really need to finish my stash first & 'there isn't anything I can think of I wanna make which I don't already have the supplies for' Insert your video, beautifull free (jay!) pattern and gorgeous yarn (with your face on it! I don't have that in my stash... 😬) 😂 oh dear, you got me in trouble Tony
That is a beautiful stitch pattern. I carry a backpack instead of bags so I might need to use the pattern but modify it to be a project bag I can put in my backpack.
What a gorgeous bag! I love this stitch and usually use it as edging on sleeves or necklines. I dislike making ribbing so I use this stitch when the neckline and sleeves are wide enough for it to work. I never thought of using it for a bag. Genius idea. Got a few baby blankets in my queue but look forward to making this bag. I always love your patterns and you explain them so well. Congratulations on your beautiful yarn and 600,000 subscribers! ❤
Definitely going to make this! I’m going to have to stripe it because I only ordered single balls of the colors of Happy Place I ordered… so I’m thinking I will make the base then start on the bottom of the bag and work until I have enough left for the join.
I’m excited to start working on this project as I’ve already downloaded the pattern and ordered the yarn! Congratulations on this venture. It seems as though it is a success since there are several colors that are sold out! Thanks for your wonderful videos. They really help me with the new stitches.
Thank you so so much for this! Amazingly perfect timing as well, I was looking to make a bag for my moms upcoming trip but nothing seemed right until this! Wonderful tutorial and design as always! 👻🧡
Hello. Received for yarn and it is indeed beautiful. Much success with this collaboration. I love the bag and will make it but not with this yarn. I want to make a beautiful shawl or a top. Want to feel the softness. Taking a little time to decide on what to make. Congratulations to you again.❤ from Cleveland,OH😊
I just got my Happy Place Yarn from Hobbii! I love it! ❤ It is soft and I love the smell ( yes I sniffed it, you all know we all do)! Can't wait to make the Fairy-Dust Cardi. I bought color 22. I know that the pattern was done in melange but I bought a solid color. I also bought one ball of color 14 because I might just add a splash of a different color to the sweater, or maybe do somehing else knows. I love them!❤😂🎉
I was listening to this while making a gauge for a different project and I really want to do both at the same time now, but then I know I won't get either done lmao
THEY'RE HERE!!! 🥳🥳🥳 my Happy Place haul just arrived and they're PHENOMENAL!!!😍😍😍 I'm swatching them right now, and they really bring you to a happy place ❤ I opted for the solids: orange, the two yellows and cinnamon, they'll became a hexagon granny cardigan very soon 🤩 please, please, please tell me there will be a restock, I literally crave the plum and the dark purple, they went sold out the very moment of the launch
Hi Toni, I really love this new project! I just wanted to know if there is a reason why you didn’t begin your work with chainless foundation stitches? Thanks a lot for all your tutorials, With love from Paris 🥰♥️🥰
Hello I'm semi new to crocheting. The light Dk yarn is a little confusing. Is it a 1or 2 weight yarn. I quess what I'm trying to say it's like a #4 weight. Thank you.
I did mine in 100 percent cotton single strand just looks more holey if that makes sense it also will be more flimsy cos there isnt 2 strands to hold it firm
Just curious, I skimmed through the video to get a sense of how it's made... Is there a reason why the base wasn't made first and then move onto the body straight from it?
@@TLYarnCrafts Girl, nice thinking ahead! I couldn't figure out why, but dang, that is so smart! This is why we trust your channel Toni! You're amazing, keep up the great work! Lots of love.
Can someone explain why we double up the yarn instead of using a thicker yarn? (I'm a beginner.) Are two strands of weight three stronger than 1 strand of, say, weight six? Would my bag not work if I used a thicker yarn to save money by halving the yardage?
Here’s a great video about the benefits of using 2 strands of yarn. 😊 I came to the comments trying to figure out the pattern multiple of the starting chain so I can use double strands of #4 yarn and keep the original size, while also using up my stash yarn. ruclips.net/video/JW8z6hRnQGQ/видео.htmlsi=90158cP1fuN8gjCK
I chose this as my first project. I'm barely a 4th of the bag but I can already tell that it's gorgeous. Thank you for this tutorial.
I love this bag! I've made 5 so far in 2 different sizes in cotton/poly and in acrylic. Thank you for sharing this pattern. 🥰
How do you adjust the size? I just made my first one and I’d love to make a slightly smaller body with longer straps!

Oh Wow!!!! Just finished this bag for my 13 yr old daughter. She loved it!!!!!
This bag is going to be a wonderful Christmas gift for a very deserving friend. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us!
Adorable! Hope your friend loves it

Just finished making mine in sand. I want to make more to give as gifts. The pattern and tutorial were easy to follow.
So glad you enjoyed it :-)

Just finished making this bag! First time ever making a bag. Your video was super easy to follow! I barely even looked at the written pattern :)
amazing! glad I could help :-)
I absolutely love making this tote as a gift!! Thank you so much for sharing.

Love this so much! Didn't do the bottom part so I stitched both sides together. Looks great! I can adjust the strap width too and make the bag how big or small I want. Thank you!!!
Am thinking of doing same for the bottom of bag
I love this I have only crochet the sc stitch but this bag up me to learn to read patterns more and I love it !
My cro-jo has been a little low lately but this just inspired me out of my funk! Cant wait for my happy place order to arrive I’m soooo excited!!!

I love how big it is
😂Yay I did it twice. This is a beautiful pattern. Thank you for teaching us how to do this. Now I need to make me one. Have a wonderful day
I have a question, do i need 4 skeins or 8, in her video she said 4 but she also double the yarn as well. Im new to this so Im still trying to understand technique ?
Love the look of this bag!!!
This was a fun and fast bag to make, I will be making more of them.
You are an EXCELLENT teacher!
I made this bag. It turned out beautifully Thank you.

This stitch instead of ribbing? I'm going to try that! Traditional ribbing is so tedious!
Hey Girl! 😂 Love your yarn and the user-friendly tutorial! Thanks for sharing your talent with the world. ❤
Thanks for this lovely bag pattern.
Que bolsa lindaaaa!!!! Eu queria TANTO esse tutorial em português! 🥹❤️

I have already ordered this yarn in this color, can’t wait to get it!
I'm so glad you got some. This color ended up selling out!!
I can't wait till my Happy Place yarn comes in so I can make this bag😊
Lovely
Beautiful bag and yarn! Thanks for sharing ❤

Congrats!! So excited to make this bag
Love the style of this bag. I simply have to have some of that yarn to try too! Thank you :)
Great video as always! I got me some Happy Place yarn specifically for this bag!! Looks like it will work up quickly!! Thanks!!
I finally finished mine!
Thank you! This is so pretty!
Beautiful bag!
congrats on 600K!!! can't wait to see what comes next for you
Ooooo, I need to make this! This would be perfect to carry around and load up with skeins/hanks at Rhinebeck this year!
I'm planning to bring mine :-)
Beautiful 😍
Making this for my cruise.... wish you had a purple so I could make one for my daughter.
The purple sold out sooooo fast!
You are my “ Vibe”
I definitely messed up! I only had enough space for 13 clusters with row one for strap B. I had fun though😄
Love it! 🎃
Eeep! This will be great to make with my leftover melange cinnamon from my cardigan and some of that aubergine I got because I couldn’t not snag it 😂
Love this bag! Definitely on my list to make! How in the world do you get your foundation chain so even??
Love your voice
Just found you! Ahhhh!! I'm super excited to catch up on videos and follow along! :)
THANK YOU😻😻😻🎈🎈🎈🧸🧸🧸👍👍👍
I really love the yarn, it's definitely a happy place. 😀
Are you going to do a video for the pillow too?
Hi Toni, I really love this new project!
I just wanted to know if there is a reason why you didn’t begin your work with chainless foundation stitches?
Thanks a lot for all your tutorials,
With love from Paris 🥰♥️🥰
The chainless foundation is very stretchy while chains aren’t. It helps to reinforce the bottom so it doesn’t stretch too much.
We still only need 4 balls, even with the doubling up of the strands?
Yes ma’am 😁
Hello I'm semi new to crocheting. The light Dk yarn is a little confusing. Is it a 1or 2 weight yarn. I quess what I'm trying to say it's like a #4 weight. Thank you.
The 2 dk strands equal an aran
So thrilled!! I'm waiting for my Happy Place yarn delivery. How did the sales go with Hobbii???????
love this video!! i have 100% acrylic - medium thickness, does it matter if i use 1 thread? or do i need to use two threads??
I did mine in 100 percent cotton single strand just looks more holey if that makes sense it also will be more flimsy cos there isnt 2 strands to hold it firm
Love this bag let’s do it 🙌🧶
Would it work as well to hold together 1 end from 2 different skeins? OR, is there a weight that would be equal to holding 2 of these together?
You can hold two strands from anywhere - same skein or two different skeins. 2 DK together gets you close to an Aran, so you could use that instead.
Just curious, I skimmed through the video to get a sense of how it's made... Is there a reason why the base wasn't made first and then move onto the body straight from it?
The sc seam done to secure the base to the bag makes it much more secure. Given the weight of the bag, it needed some extra reinforcement.
@@TLYarnCrafts Girl, nice thinking ahead! I couldn't figure out why, but dang, that is so smart! This is why we trust your channel Toni! You're amazing, keep up the great work! Lots of love.
Is dk weight a 3 weight ? Thank you.
If you make 2, you have a very handy Vest -- Pattern Please ❤️🔥
Love the bag AND the colour. Is the wool available in Canada or just the US
The yarn is on Hobbii’s website, and they are based in Denmark. 😊
I need a hexagon cardigan with this stich. Can it be done?
JESUS bless you, thank you for sharing✝️🙏🏼🙌🏼‼❤
Does anyone think that the 24/7 cotton yarn worsted will work with this? I have 4 full skeins (744 yards) of it left and would like to use it.
I used cotton i think it holds better
Thanks

Could I do a single crochet foundation chain instead of doing chain and then single crochet? If so how many? x🫶🏼
You could - you’d start with fsc 101. I chose chains, though, to add strength to the base. Foundation stitches are very stretchy.
Thank you for the video instructions, I found reading the pattern confusing.
