    No annoying music (apart from the short intro) accompanying your review. Also, great background behind you. Thank you for introducing this new Leica to us.

    • @JohnRicard
      @JohnRicard 6 лет назад

      Yeah, I'm so sick of background music on videos... I often just click away rather than listen to 20 minutes of bad looped music underneath someone talking.

    • @Photogearnews
      @Photogearnews  6 лет назад

      Only time I tend to use it is when it is more of a ’vlog’ style review, or when I'm trying to hide some background noise. Sony RX100 review - some dancers were dancing to some very recognisable and clear music that would have no doubt raised a copyright claim. Dropping the actual audio then adding some royalty free music gets around this situation... Just fade it out, or way way down in volume when I start to talking.

    great video. i really like the removal of the logo from the front. no more fiddling around with black tape. i would like to see a side by side comparison with a M10 and an M6 or M6 TTL to see how much quieter the new shutter really is.

      sorry, german but the sound is international:-)
      Problem: at the table the difference is not that big, if you hold it, you can hear the difference better.

    I would assume that the Fujifilm X-H1 is quieter than the M10-P. WHile the older FUjis were already quite low noise, the X-H1 is a joy to use already because of the extremely discrete shutter sound.

  • @jlwilliams

    So to make it “less conspicuous”they removed the red dot and put on a great big gnarly slotted-head screw? What is this, the Lumbersexual Leica?
    Classic-era M Leicas (M2 - M5) had a smaller, more elegant screw in this same location to cover the rangefinder mechanism's vertical adjustment port, and I'm guessing this one serves the same purpose... but why make it so clunky?

    Wow... 'Live view' with a (wait for it)... level! Sooo fancy. How did we ever get by without one? Only about, what, a decade behind every other digital camera EV-ER. Worthless addition. Not what Leica shooters care about. Never mind it's laggy as all get-out. I'm still happy with my M9-P, but wouldn't mind the larger sensor of the M10.

    Which classic Leica M lenses will work with the Leica M10-P? Will those lenses work without being sent to Leica for coding? What are the problems if the lenses are not coded?

    • @bradmaestas5206
      @bradmaestas5206 5 лет назад

      Nearly all the classic M lenses can be used with the M10 series. AFAIK some of the early 21mm lenses won't meter correctly and the close-focusing range on the 50mm DR doesn't work without modification. Otherwise, you can use any screw or M-mount lens on your M10X without issues. As far as coding, my 90 APO isn't coded nor are my Zeiss Biogon superwides. I select these manually (for non-Leica lenses you select a Leica equivalent) and it applies geometric and vignetting corrections and attaches the EXIF data including an estimate of aperture (it's not always perfect). Or you can leave it as is and apply corrections and EXIF later. Coded lenses will have everything applied automatically. I'm considering having my 90 coded because it is a bit of a pain to remember to manually select lenses each time I change them and more than once I've shot my 90 with 21 selected and vice versa.

    Very interesting to the camera collectors but as a photographer I would buy a M10. Not yet though. With the Chinese market shut, thanks to a marketing blunder, I would expect a very drastic price drop on all models in the next 6 months.

    Love the Sony A6500 comparison. The camera has a complete silent shutter mode. That did not make it here though

    • @Photogearnews
      @Photogearnews  6 лет назад +3

      Unless you heard me say just after that the quiet shutter is obviously a bit redundant as most mirrorless cameras now have a silent/or virtually silent shutter in electronic mode (which incidentally won’t help you out photographying fast moving subjects unless you have an extremely good camera with low rolling shutter).

      GAS, that is what makes a camera u/s in a few years time, people think that something more than a couple of years old is no longer fit for purpose, it suddenly stops taking those pictures you can print and hang on your wall and therefore has to be replaced.
