    Marty, is, in my opinion, possibly the best online guitar instructor on RUclips. Why? because: 1. He is never smug and truly comes across as approachable, fun and genuinely eager to help you learn.
    2. He does an outstanding job of breaking down each lesson into bite size portions that are easy to see, follow and he repeats himself sufficiently enough and effectively enough that one seldom needs to rewind too much to find that one odd note or position that you are learning.
    I keep learning all the time from this inspirational teacher, and if I picked only one teacher to learn guitar from on this platform, it would be Marty. Thank you Marty for leveraging your talent through this site! 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    The fact that he's casually playing an awesome riff at the beginning of the stream is so cool! Keep up the good work marty!

    This is a great footing from Marty. It really, again, is all about knowing where your root, 3rd, and 5th notes are everywhere up to fret 12. Actually, just knowing - for example - every A note on every string, then connecting the 3rds and the 5ths will i) give you the triads and ii) open up the entire fretboard for soloing.

    Watched one of your videos on how to play, “Oh me” by nirvana/meat puppets back in 2013 when I was 14 years old. Now I’m learning triads with you at 24 learning triads! Thank you Marty. I speak for everyone you’ve helped when I say, WE LOVE YOU MAN

    I've been playing Subterranean by the Foos on triads. Sounds super cool and just tempers the song to a quieter level.

    Coincidentally, I was mucking around with this concept on my electric Piano this morning. Taught myself C Minor Pentatonic scale.
    Looking forward to using the looper and 1, 4, 5ing it this arvo.

    I have learned so much from your videos and I have been playing for decades(I'm in my 40s, and have been playing since 15...but self taught), but not progressing past a certain plateau. Where I can play songs fine, but not as good as I feel I should. Never learned theory or anything just playing by ear. You know the saying "bad practice makes imperfect, but but perfect practice makes perfect". Finding your videos was lucky, and allowed me to start playing better. Learning not only what I was doing wrong, but what I should be doing instead.

    Love it all. A full lesson on just 1:20 to 1:50 would be really cool. Playing over the whole 1/4/5 changes while in that same box area and making it sound great are challenging for me. Even sounded like the lines were based around the actually melody for JBG which was really cool.

    I'm a total fan Marti, I've learned so much from your videos. Constructive criticism trying to gain total understanding of triads. Wonderful explanation of D mag triad then you lost me and went into some entertainment. I had to wait for you start talking again so we could get back on it.

    I've got one question to ask from the professionals, can you guys play just by listening to a song without having the tabs? (atleast close chords)

    • @nathanp9449
      @nathanp9449 2 года назад

      Yes....so can you with a bit of practice, some theory and trial and error...

    Full speed Marty is good for listening to
    But "Drunk Marty" (0.5 speed) is easier to learn :)
    I'd be weird to go out drinking with him, as I'd immediately feel weird without a Guitar in my hands.....

    Do I see you finger picking, I'm told frequently that I shouldn't use my fingers but a plectrum. Is this just people who can't finger pick and wish they could? I fail to see how you can pick three strings at once using a plectrum. John mayer plays with his fingers after all, and he sounds OK
