- Classic Doo Wop favorites.
1. The Illusions - Hey Boy released in March 1962 on the Mali label and various other labels.
2. The Vibraniques - Hey Boy (Acappella) released in 1968 and is on various Oldies and Acappella albums.
Both songs in new stereo mixes by Johnny T.
Never find stereo mixes on these two until now. Fine acappella on The Vibraniques version.
My father was Fred Faulkner who sang lead for "Hey Boy" for The Illusions.
Excellent...thanks for commenting.
@@sonnysoldies5288 he actually wrote or co-wrote the song but sadly didn't get credit for it.
@@kimberlymurphy4326 That happened a lot back then and thanks for the info.
The Vibraniques version of Hey Boy was recorded in July 1967. It was released a few years later.
Thank you, I could never find a definitive date for this release...the group picture doesn't look like they were from 1967? Can you show me definite proof before I change the date?
@@sonnysoldies5288 I can't give you any proof other than I was in the group leading Hey Boy, and I was on leave from the Army during the summer of 1967, at which time we all got together for two weeks learning and rehearsing. We went into the studio before I had to return and recorded our 8 song demo. Wayne Stierle released Hey Boy on an oldies compilation sometime about 1968 or slightly later.
@@dobluesky Beautiful...that's proof enough for me...thank you.
@@dobluesky Was it ever released as a single, or only with the other songs on Juke Box Records?
