Midwest takes me back to the fall/ winter days of high school. Hoodies and skinny jeans, fall and winter break parties in the backyard of someone’s parents house smoking weed and drinking beers someone got from a 21 year old they met at a gas station. Smoking out in the woods on a cloudy fall day. Sitting in my dimly lit room listening to American football and posting on tumblr. Life was so simple.
I think it's more happy music made by sad people for sad people to listen to, to feel better. Never have I jumped into Midwest thinking oh this is a sad song, the lyrics can be somber, along with the vocal styles. But the music itself is very upbeat and shows much initiative.
@@r4t4k16 not really, closer to straight indie rock than emo, and only highly hailed and initially associated because of Kinsella's previous work as the drummer of Cap'n Jazz, which is a greater example songwriting and influence in terms of quality and breaking new ground. I’m not American, I didn’t even listen to midwestern in high school but much later in college, but I’ve been forever stuck on the faux nostalgia it gives, all those movie concepts life could’ve been but wasn’t, life was just quieter, simpler back then, I don’t even like to drive and I don’t smoke but I just dream that fever dreams of crossing the US on a cheap van with my mates, singing our lungs, crying and smoking and laughing until I forget who I am and breathe for the first time in my life, and never ever forget again that I am, indeed, alive.
This mixtape inspires me to wear black skinny jeans, learn bass, and form a garage band with other societal misfits who don't know what they're gonna do with their lives. Too bad I'm 33 and married.
Why didnt I find these bands when I was a heartbroken teenager? Now I'm a 27 year old happily married with a son and a 2nd on the way. Fuck this is great stuff either way

Reading everyone’s comments makes me feel comfortable it’s amazing how theirs so many of us “misfits” and socially inept people and everyone claims we’re not basic and not like everyone else when in reality we’re as basic as we can get we’re just surrounded by the wrong people
These songs remind me of the regrets of childhood that I carry with me as I travel to adulthood. I reminisce my old friends and good times I had with them and I know that times will never be the same. These songs make me realize how my life will never be the same as it was when times weren’t as stressful or lack luster as they are now. Every days the same and I’ve lost my innocence. Man being an adult sucks
Accept Jesus Christ into your life. Set goals, and work towards them. Learn from the past, but don’t regret it. Find something to be passionate about. Love and be kind to others. Look forwards, not backwards.

There will never be another band as perfect as snowing.
I'm not sure why, but this mixtape really makes me want to go out, fire up my midwest lawnmower and mow my midwest lawn.
I want a farm
every mix cd/mp3 player i had in elementary/high school compacted into a youtube video

Well, it’s more of a digital compilation. But I get where you’re coming from 😊
And from the bottom of my broken black heart I hope you are well. For real. Music, if not for music and a few other things I might not be present. Take care! 🖤
Been listening to this playlist for two years straight, I hope it never gets taken down.
Now I'm trying to make the same music lol

I’ve been coming back to this mix for years now, each time I’m a little older but I’ll always feel it the same. 🖤
I have found many types of music I get value out of but I have always found a certain kind of comfort in songs that incorporate the vibe of these types of songs
