I don’t believe that dream didn’t know techno was gonna escape through the pearl because he gave techno the location of the blueprints for the prison. So he knew techno would get out eventually. Which means that dream and techno planned things out to a degree while they were inside. Dream was fine taking his time playing with people in prison when he was just being stuck inside a room. But when quakity came and started torturing him dream became much much more determined to escape.
yeah at the very least dream was content to remain in the prison stripped of almost all his power (only having his power of convincing speech left and even then sam could threaten him to take that away) right up until the conditions were truly unfair and downright despicable even by dreams own standards that was were he started to try and escape otherwise he was mostly content

I always thought it's because he breathes some mixture of sulphur and chlorine and stuff instead of regular oxygen, so he recycles the gas he outputs naturally as a creeper, which also cancels out the biological instinct to explode upon proximity to others.
Honestly, the whole part about Dream saying that it was AwesomeDude's job to keep him alive does give more credit to the theory that he planned to be put in prison.

Dream might be powerful, but not untouchable. And he is right, if Quackity knew he'd kill him so that Dream couldn't escape, especially after Techno got out.
May I present to you a headcanon that I crafted from bits of evidence with his behavior, relationship to his cannon family, and past relationships from real life to explain his character? NOTE: This is not me excusing his behavior, simply explaining it. In real life we know he had a partner that was emotionally and possibly physically abusive. And seeing as how that was relatively recent, that real life trauma is likely to have bled into his character. The good ol' write what you know. Now I'm not 100% sure if this next point is real or not, but it seems to be commonly accepted that CaptainPuffy is Dream's mother, and Foolish his adopted brother. But there doesn't seem to be a cannon person to fill the role of father for him. So I think it was likely DreamXD creating his son in his image, but not sticking around to be a father for him. The lack of a father caused him to become a complete mama's boy, desperate for her attention, but then Foolish got adopted, taking that attention that Dream needed. Which is why I think Dream and Foolish's relationship isn't the best. This manifested into feelings of abandonment, and a need for control in Dream. He then got into the relationship I mentioned earlier because of that desperate need for love and affection, and that resulted in Conner. Dream fought with Conner's other parent but was eventually kicked out of the house and away from his son. Still looking for that attention, he started the SMP with his friends. But as the amount of people on the server grew, and the more people stopped paying attention to him, the more triggering it was for him, so he lashed out by getting a tad bit violent. But this was before he started taking it all that far with Tommy. Eventually his best friend (and crush) George had gotten wed to Ninja, and out of jealousy he half-heartedly accepted Fundy's marriage proposal, running away with George at the altar to go after what he really wanted. Now this is where the Dreamon comes into play. Dream meets this thing in the woods that sees his insecurities and his need for attention. It promises that he will be loved by all, and being desperate for that he makes a deal. That Dreamon gets to be in control of his mind and body unless he is surrounded by redstone. The Dreamon feeds off of his intense feelings of abandonment, guilt(for leaving his son) and lust for power(and George) and effectively takes full control of him. This explains why he seemed to be genuine when he told someone(I can't remember who) that he doesn't know or doesn't remember what he did. This also explains how he still sees himself as a good person, he's realizing what he's done and is able to recognize when he's done something wrong, but he doesn't believe that he's responsible because he knows it was the Dreamon that actually did it, he just doesn't tell anyone that because part of the deal was that he can't tell anyone about the Dreamon or the deal they made. So now, here he is. In the prison. Away from everyone he cares about. Slowly losing his grip on sanity, and wishing he could turn back time and be around the people who made him feel loved, aka George.

In the beginning, Tommy and co were generally a nuisance, grieving, annoying people and so on and Dream and such were relatively justified. However, at some point after l'manburg Dream started having a serious villain arc while l'manburg thus started to have actual enemies to defend against rather than being a hideout to steal everyone's potion ingredients, thus starting to justify it's existence. I'm kinda not as active in the fandom as I was so I'm not sure where exactly one may draw the line or if there even is one because I honestly doubt that there is. But what is relatively certain is that after Wilbur blew up the nation and the Tubbo administration came into power we've arrived firmly on the side of l'manburg's existence (if not all it's actions) being justified due to dream genuinely being a threat to people. Yes, his desire for control arose from losing control due to people starting conflicts with each other, but it went beyond what would be reasonable and justified and into full-on dictatorship ambitions territory by then. (Not getting into Technoblade and his Anarchy in here as I think he's sort of a separate matter from the l'manburg/dream conflict; long story short he was usually at least partially justified IMO)

I know it was an audio problem in the beginning of sams stream, but honestly dreams cutting out makes it sound like hes stuttering from nervousness. Anyways, this was an awesome animatic! Great work
I’m SO GLAD someone showed Tommy’s reaction to the siren. Could u imagine, putting the person who manipulated you, the person who ruined your life, and the person you fear with every fiber of your being behind bars, only to hear a siren go off, telling u that the person escaped, telling you your life is no longer safe, telling u that you can no long walk freely without keeping a guard up? That would be absolutely mortifying, soul crushing. You would have the biggest breakdown of your entire life.
Gotta say I really love your Sam design. His skin is super weird to draw, but your version actually looks really good. It may not be 100% accurate but I think the gas mask makes him very interesting. Almost didn’t realise it’s a reinterpretation of the creeper face but now that I do see that it makes it even cooler!

I could totally see this as part of a play. You've done a really great job showing the perspectives of the different characters, and your designs are really good too. Together with all the little details like lighting and bruises or marks, this animatic is top-tier.
