I see a lot of people saying just rebuild your oem carb. That is by far the best thing you could do. The only problem with that is, if the throttle slide body is worn out, the carb is done. You can clean and replace all the brass you want. It will not run properly. As PowerModz said sometimes these knockoff carbs are your only choice. Just make sure you have them jetted properly to prevent engine damage. I had an oem carb on a RT100. I cleaned it and put new oem jets in. Bike would not run. Put a new knockoff $26 carb in it and it started first kick. Minor air and needle adjustments and the bike ran perfect.
I bought a chinese carb for 14$ shipped to me, my 1984 atc 70 has never ran so strong. Ben 3yrs no problem. If it works it works. Chinese , japanese anywho
technoviking1975 Bubba Oh they will run great. The only thing with the Chinese carbs are the Jets will break or snap. I bought a couple and put in original Honda Jets.
+1 to everything this guy says. The original Kiehin carburetor on my ATC125 was so far gone that rebuilding it was not possible. Corrosion, bad gaskets, leaked, slide was seized. I found a knock off on Amazon for $17 that was a pretty good copy. I had to swap the carb studs from the original to the knock off and the slide is a composite rather than metal but other than that there was virtually no difference. All controls hooked right up with no modification and it started right up. Now the little 3 wheeler that could runs as good as it's ever run and starts on the first pull. Chinese knock off carburetors are kind of like the Chinese knock off Honda GX 200 engines. (Cough.... Predator... cough cough...) Most of the time they're just as good as the original. I used to think that "cheap Chinese stuff" was junk. Period. Well.... China has upped their game in the quality department.
I've got three Chinese carbs and have had no trouble at all with them, all on "82 200E's. Its hard to rebuild a carb when the guy before you thought they would try their hand at fixing them.
exactly the guy that had my 96 timberwolf 250 beat on the carb because the floats were sticking and bent the side of the bowla nd now it won't stop leaking fuel i got a knockoff carb and hopefully if all else fails maybe the bowl will swap over
Use your original carburetor, and the jets from the Chinese carb, that worked for me on one of them. @ of them worked out ok.@@gustavoperdomoelicher8773
Similar experience with these. Plan to re-jet them right away. I’ve found they ship with pig rich pilot jet size - aka safe mode. I’ve seen them run 5-10 bigger. They never list the jet sizes, so best to look up oem jet sizes of your bike and order real mikuni jets and have them on hand as a starting point. Also agree and highly recommend the ultrasonic cleaner route on your genuine carb prior to resorting to these things, 9 out of 10 times the cleaning has amazing results.
This is a 5 year old comment, but yes, same experience with a Quadrunner 250. Chinese carb came on it from the previous seller, wouldn't idle without throttle, turns out the pilot jet was a size 40- the factory Mikuni spec is 15.
I have used a couple of those on atcs I bought that had no carbs but when I already have a carb a I always just rebuild instead of going chineese I like to keep my trikes all original.
awesome! too cheap to smoke's review of a tillotson copy segued straight into this review. I am really glad to hear you weigh in on this as I bought a Chinese copy of the carb for my 84 honda xl80s and I have been feeling reluctant to try it. I stupidly broke a screw off trying to pull the "make work component" that honda installed over the pilot jet out and I have been stalling on trying to drill out the stupid plug that prevents the owner of said honda from cleaning their own carb with the oem carb. I feel better about trying the knock off as I only need to pull the studs from the oem and screw them into the threads in the copy. thanks for all your awesome vids Louis! 🙂
I have used several of them off ebay, plug and play. Cheaper than a rebuild kit. I have got quality; as good as the original. In fact have one coming right now for a Stihl MS211 chainsaw.
What about for Can-Am? I have a 2004 I bought a Chinese carburetter for it still not running right thinking about buying another Chinese one what company would you suggest? Please let me know.
I've purchased 2 Chinese carbs so far. 1 was for a Bayou 220 and the other a Bayou 250. I had to rejet both and they both hesitantly accepted the original carb main jet (They definitely will not rattle loose) I had one issue on the 250 Bayou, which gets more use, where the bowl was overflowing while sitting. I took the carb off and cleaned it out. Looked completely clean so not sure if some gunk got in the needle and seat? It was fine after I reinstalled it. I've just ordered a 3rd Chinese carb (Caltric brand) for a Polaris 500 Sportsman. It has mostly good reviews and I'm hoping it will work right out of the box.
Troll Scab how did you get the cable to fit in the cap I bought a China carb but the cap and piston is bigger I can’t get the small one off the cable so I can put on the new carb any help would be great
Honda carb y is better then Chinese carby and some Chinese so have weak quality of most parts and look other brands are better quality then most Chinese bikes and Yamaha, Honda, KTM, Husqvarna, suzuki are best brand of factory made with having issues like Chinese and who agrees with that point views and cheers for sharing video it's nice to watch more varnys of most yamaha, Honda,KTM,Suzuki, Husqvarna and Polaris be awesome bikes they ever build by company of own factory build
I love my chinese carb but damn it takes forever to start my Quad ! Once it started everything is good ! What sucks is I can't adjust the fuel/air ratio. The screw there has 2 tiny holes instead of a flat screw driver head... The OEM carb even though I replaced every brass part and needle keeps spitting gas in my crankcase unless I shut the fuel valve.
what you ended up with was the smaller one with no float plug .. find the OEM STD carb with the same side and float plug and it will work out of the box.. the one you have will work on a 100 better than the 200
We ordered a carb recently for our 1986 honda 200sx. We had to get a different carb because the cap attached to the throttle cable was too small for the first new carb. The other issue is the barrel will not slide up and down. We had bore out the cylinder some...still no good. By the way, how do you install a throttle cable to a new carb when the metal tube is crimped to the lid as one piece. However, the newest carb we installed and the quad is operational now. It has sat for several years now. We have 3 of these and now 2 of them run. 1 to go. All had the same carburetor slash pet cock issues. Thank you for your video.
Original 1998 Honda $600 carb lasted 15 years, normal wear. Has pressed in jets instead of screwed in jets! A new float needle did not fix and the seat would need to be drilled out. Chinese carb (Actually has Japan on it!) $100 in 2013 has been running 7 years. Time will tell. Seen some in 2020 for $35. Can still buy the original Honda in 2020 for $300.
Got a 99 TRX450S that when trying to adjust the fuel screw I can close the screw completely and the bike doesn’t even drop an rpm it seems. When would cause the rpms to not change at all?
I’m having trouble bought one of these carbs and came with cable now seems like cable is too long my throttle for thumb doesn’t spring back are nothing Have any suggestion??
i got one of these Chinese Carb for my honda big red 200es 1984 but im having trouble now with over revving. i was thinking there was a air leak? or choke needs shorting? any help would be much appreciated thx
SO I ordered a chinese carb and when I got it installed, noticed that the cap (where the throttle cble and cylinder is inserted) was SMALLER than the replacement cap. So I pulled the throttle cylinder and cable apart and thought I put it back together again properly, but get absolutely no start. The gas line leading into the carb has a in-line filter now which the original one didn't... and I see gas in it. At the bottom of the throttle cable chamber I noticed a small clip. I am wondering if I put this cable assembly back together again properly? does the needle need to be hooked into that clip somehow? When I pull the throttle I hear the cylinder moving up and down inside the carb... Thoughts?
Do you have a go to rebuild kit for the stock 84 200ES? i bought a Chinese carb and it broke the first day. I put the original back on, but it could use a freshening up.
Ok I got a 1985 Honda atc 70 and my carburetor choke is on the left side but can't find one so can I use one that the choke is on the right side just extend the fuel lines
Just picked up a small what I assume is a Chinese ATV for a kid 50cc Honda clone GY6 Engine i think? took the carb off it says Technology From Japan right on it KEL HLN 16 J B some japanese or chinese symbol Knot sure of the maker looks Like a PZ20 20mm intake ID air cleaner 35mm OD, 29mm ID is this a japanese carb or Chinese?
In Europe Piaggio asks 350 euros for 2006 gilera runner 125 vx carb. I bought chinese carb cv30 (copy of Keihin) . My bike works perfect. I think is more powerfull than original and more smooth at idle. May be is the same as original but is not worse.
My pilot jet in the oem carb is different then the one in the Chinese carb threads are in a different spot I need a bigger pilot do you know where to get jets for the Chinese carb
So the name brand carb jets are flow tested. These cheap carbs are not. Some jets are not even numbers. I do the same thing. I use the old jets in the new cheap carb and it work 90 percent of the time. Also i use K&L needles instead of the cheap ones. I have done this probably 300 times since I am the only people repairing these machines in Fargo N.D. I order 100 moped carbs every year and return about 5 out of 10 for poor machine work.
Bought one for my X.. never got the thing adjusted right.. idled terribly.. ran like crap through all gears.. returned it and bought a carb kit and it ran great.
Cody Rosa same for a trx 200. I'm no expert, but I like you never could get a perfect tune, even with Honda brass. I guess you are up to Chinese quality control that day, when you receive one.
How did you swap the throttle cable from the old carb to the new one? I can't get mine out of the top cover for the piston. It's for a Honda XR 200 same carb as the atc.
Easy. Make the cable pass through the end of the spring, turn the spring until the cable gets out at the other end, then you'll have enough space to remove the cable.
1983 200e, what would cause a bog at about 1/2 throttle in just about every gear and gets worse with a heavier load? Had two carbs both do the same thing and one was brand new old is stock. Nothing seems to change when you turn the mixture screw on the outside and the circlip is center notch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Seems to only have half the power and only being able to go halfish throttle sucks.
@@PowerModzOfficial I’ll replace it, already did the coil. I’ll follow up if it fixes the issue. I know you can test them, however they’re cheap enough to be able to have a spare handy. Thanks for the response
Thanks for the info, just swapped '96 honda xr200r carb for the China one. THROTTLE CYLINDER IS DIFFERENT SIZE, couldnt remove stock carb cap though. Intake size is like 30% smaller but honestly I couldn't tell the difference. Started up 3rd kick after the bowl filled and jets sprayed, runs perfect. Only complaint is the idle screw tightens from vibration and will need to be unscrewed back down after every ride. Other than that works good.
Anybody ever try a flat slide carb on one of these? I have a brand new 28mm flat slide that I might try but I figure it will probably be too much carb for the old 200s. I have a spare engine for this trike that I want to rebuild with a high compression piston and a 200x cam. Think it would run that engine or still be too much?
They make 2 different ones for the Honda 185/200's and you have to look and ask before you order them. As the China 200 carbs come in a P27 and a P30 both look the same and work the same. And are the same size.. The difference between them is the inside bore size is smaller on the P27 than the P30.. More than likely he ordered the new one and they shipped him the p27 since he said it had a smaller bore size, The p30 uses the same top and slid and jet sizes inside the carb.. A stock 185 likes the p27 better out of the box than a 200. Where as the 200/200x works better with the p30 china carb. And when you order the P30 you can reuse the adjustable top witch is a bonus.. I just use lee do a search for a P30 carb rather than doing one for a blank yr 200 Honda carb..Hope this helps someone else out a bit..
Now the p27 will use a little less fuel than the p30 and I've had good luck with both of them over the yrs.. One of the old men in town was like no just rebuild my stock carb. I don't want no China junk. Never did get the stock 1981 carb right all ways fluiding even after new kits from Honda, the carb body was just wore smooth out... So when he asked me to rebuild the top end I did a new 11:1 Wisco 200x Piston and rings that I had, and a new nos Honda 200x cam, and a new timing chain and chain guides and new China valves and a brand new P30 china carb and he was like O MY GOD this thing runs better than it did when I bought it brand new in 1981 from Honda.. lol If he only know he had a China junk carb on it, an he's been running it for the last 3yrs checking cattle and fences everyday, An that China junk card has never flooded or ran fuel out the overflow since I built it.. The 1981 Honda big red 200e is a beast now.. Electric start, high low, and will ride a wheelie .. Got to love the old Atc's.. It actually surprised me how much the 11:1 200x piston and cam woke that thing up.. lol...
I've got the same problem, however I had mechanic put a carb kit into the oem, and it's still not running. So I'm debating whether to go with a clone or oem.
I bought a Chinese carburetor a few years back for $90, it was a piece of junk, the casting was fine, the problem I had was with the rubber on the primer part, it was the kind you push in multiple times (stem, not bulb) the rubber boot on it broke off and couldn't prime anymore, they tried to claim it was user fault, its just crap quality rubber that probably deteriorates when in contact with gas. At least now the Chinese carbs are half the price they were then, but they need to use better plastic's & Rubber, I wouldn't have a problem with them then.. My '95 Bayou's replacement carb would cost me $250 a few years ago, now its $500, China carbs are the only reasonable option now days.
Scared to swap my blaster carb with the Chinese one that came with my rebulid kit not scared of getting it right just power difference anyone noticed a power difference with the Chinese
I got one of those carbs for my atc 200s. Problem is that it revs up all the way whenever I start it. The problem was the same with the old carburetor and with the new one. What do you think I should do?
I know this comment is three years old. But it sounds to me like your sucking excess air from another source causing the engine to run lean. I'm a bit surprised know one else chimed in to tell you this. Check your intake gasket/gaskets where the carburetor mounts to. Make sure gaskets are good and bolts are tightened securely. Be careful not to over tighten though. Check that first!! Also, make sure your running the correct size jets in the carb. Many times people assume jets are interchangeable between several different size/year Atc's. But most of the time, that's just not the case, even if the carburetors are identical on the outside.
I know its a very old comment but may help new readers. Check your VALVE CLEARANCES, over time the valves recess themselves into the head which in turn lessens the valve clearances, recently fixed a friends GY6 that was running high upon start then stalling after a few seconds, checked everywhere for air leaks & found none, then it dawned on me that 1 or both valves were not fully closing causing the problem, sure enough upon inspection both valves were staying open, after setting to specs it started and ran great, still going strong as ever.
Yes, make sure you check VALVE CLEARANCE. I was actually gonna suggest MUFFLER BEARINGS. when we type in CAPITAL LETTERS does it mean we're SCREAMING??!! ..Just messin😝 Anyways, I would've suggested checking the valve lash (among several other things) if the original poster had engine stalling problems. He said when he starts his bike the engine "revs up all the way" Having low compression due to valve lash being out of adjustment isn't something I would suspect to make the engine run wide open like that. It's awesome you fixed your friends bike though. I know how satisfying that can be. 👍
I CANNOT FIND A FLIPPIN VIDEO ON HOW TO FIND AN AFTERMARKET CARB THAT WILL BE COMPATIBLE WITH THE OLD ONE!!! (YES, I'M YELLING) I found a 1982 Honda cm250 and parts are missing. They don't seem to make the parts anymore, and after clearly stating that, I've still had a thousand people tell me to clean up the old carb and use it or, to buy an original off of E-bay. The originals, people are asking around $300, and they look like they were pulled out of a lake-- no guarantee the thing is not broke, or even that all the guts are inside. So...?
Just stick with keihin. find out the stock bore and buy a carb off something else, rejet, re needle, re slide. AKA, XR 250 carbs for the little 4 stroke trikes, 400ex carb for the 350x, and dirtbike carbs for your race trikes. Join a community for your machine and buy used, or goto ebay. nothing beats japan quality and power.
Nasier M. You can run any carb that fits your specs on your bike.... Most basic mechanical non accerlator pump ( like the one you have on your 85) do the same job, however the Jets and such need to be correct, throttle slide/ body etc need to fit. With enough tweaking you can make it work. However I would recommend just buying a rebuild kit for your OEM carb. I wouldn't recommend buying a China carb for a high end machine. I bought 2 China carbs for a snowblower and lead blower and have worked okay. I like the idea of what the the dude did in the video is taking out OEM parts if they fit in the China carb and bolt it up. The quaulty is NOT 100% oem by a country mile... But for small equipment like my yard tools, the rebuild kits have exceeded the ENTIRE cost of a China carb kit and I won't be bummed if they don't work because really I can swap out parts from the two carbs and run the OEM
Thete IS NO good Chinese parts period idc how much factory carburetors cost i will ONLY use OEM carburetors every chinese carb ive tried is a peice of shit right outta the box
a lot of these older machines you can't get new gem carbs for....and you use Chinese things everyday...barely anything is made in North America these days.

Nothing seems to change when you turn the mixture screw on the outside and the circlip is center notch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Seems to only have half the power and only being able to go halfish throttle sucks.
Could be the cdi
@@PowerModzOfficial I’ll replace it, already did the coil. I’ll follow up if it fixes the issue. I know you can test them, however they’re cheap enough to be able to have a spare handy. Thanks for the response
@@PowerModzOfficial was not the Cdi, I’m at a loss of what it could possibly be.
why does the choke spring back to open?
I have a konker 250 what engine would be in it?
200x started first pull??? They don’t pull start
Can you show us how to rebuild and tune the K A Standard of Japan Carbi?
More than likely he ordered the new one and they shipped him the p27 since he said it had a smaller bore size,
The p30 uses the same top and slid and jet sizes inside the carb..
It actually surprised me how much the 11:1 200x piston and cam woke that thing up.. lol...
looks like a pz20 im not sure about those but the pz19 lasts forever they are very good
I just bought a Yamaha Blaster 200 missing a carb it looks like a Mikuni clone Chinese carb is cheap but can I use Mikuni jets?
I think so..
I've got the same problem, however I had mechanic put a carb kit into the oem, and it's still not running. So I'm debating whether to go with a clone or oem.
Run. nothing but problems with Chinese parts on my bike straight back to oem after a week
My '95 Bayou's replacement carb would cost me $250 a few years ago, now its $500, China carbs are the only reasonable option now days.
got mine for 60$ on aliexpress for my cf moto, brought it back from the dead.
How do I take the piston slide out
Will the needle out of the new one fit inside the original
Scared to swap my blaster carb with the Chinese one that came with my rebulid kit not scared of getting it right just power difference anyone noticed a power difference with the Chinese
I got one of those carbs for my atc 200s. Problem is that it revs up all the way whenever I start it. The problem was the same with the old carburetor and with the new one. What do you think I should do?
92Inquieto check the slide it only goes in one way should slide in easy
I know this comment is three years old. But it sounds to me like your sucking excess air from another source causing the engine to run lean. I'm a bit surprised know one else chimed in to tell you this. Check your intake gasket/gaskets where the carburetor mounts to. Make sure gaskets are good and bolts are tightened securely. Be careful not to over tighten though.
Check that first!!
Also, make sure your running the correct size jets in the carb. Many times people assume jets are interchangeable between several different size/year Atc's. But most of the time, that's just not the case, even if the carburetors are identical on the outside.
Assuming you already checked what the gentleman above my comment mentioned.
I was actually gonna suggest MUFFLER BEARINGS. when we type in CAPITAL LETTERS does it mean we're SCREAMING??!! ..Just messin😝
Anyways, I would've suggested checking the valve lash (among several other things) if the original poster had engine stalling problems.
So...?
Do you remove the cap to get to the lean rich mixture screw, mine has like a plug in it
I saw another video where this was done, I believe the answer is yes.
What did you get for an ultrasonic cleaner?
How about a rebuild kit will they fit inside the original
Just stick with keihin. find out the stock bore and buy a carb off something else, rejet, re needle, re slide. AKA, XR 250 carbs for the little 4 stroke trikes, 400ex carb for the 350x, and dirtbike carbs for your race trikes.
Join a community for your machine and buy used, or goto ebay. nothing beats japan quality and power.
My Chinese 150 pitbike has lasted longer then my buddies Honda crf150f
high priced, its $13.plug and play ..
Great info 👍
Good to know I got some
As a back up .
Mine run bad cleaned it over an over .
Can you run the China carbs on cr85????
This guy sings that Frozen song...right!
Not very good at singing. But I am good at yelling - ask my kids.
how do you know if a stoc carb is in a bad shape what will do the engine
it wont run right you definitely will tell when its bad
I got one for a CT70 that will only fit a ATC70. So totally worthless. Buyer beware.
Wow not much info.
Rebuild your kehins, not worth it.
give away PWK UMA carb
Yea But They Also Come With The Coronavirus

They don't work dont waste your money
Thete IS NO good Chinese parts period idc how much factory carburetors cost i will ONLY use OEM carburetors every chinese carb ive tried is a peice of shit right outta the box
a lot of these older machines you can't get new gem carbs for....and you use Chinese things everyday...barely anything is made in North America these days.
I agree. Had a few break from just riding. snapped right in half.
They weren't made in America to begin with. Honda is Japanese
nor in Europe anymore. You're right, how did the chinese get the molds ? they already had them because of original chinese made.
Dylan Clay you’re a dumbass.
