Welcome! I had them professionally installed using the two strand twist method! I have an entire playlist on my channel starting with the install day until now if you want to check it out!
I think the only thing would be how fast your hair grows. Some of the people who retwist their microlocs say that it doesn’t last as long. My husband has traditional locs and when he gets to about 4-5 weeks he needs a retwist. His roots be thick 😂. If you think about it from a cost comparison, if you are 12 times a year to get retwist and spending $100 or 6 times (8 weeks) a year to get retied and spending $150. You aren’t saving (numbers are just for comparison purposes).
I have sisterlocks for almost 5-years now. I started self-maintaining my locs in Feb '24 using the retwisting method, prior I was strictly having my lotician interlock my hair. I absolutely love it. Interlocking would be the better method when vacationing and getting in the water.
