    I wish Thomas Youngblood would unleash this guy in Kamelot. He's got so much talent, but I think that he's so restrained in Kamelot. He could do so much more if he could be himself, and if Kamelot wrote music for him rather than for still writing music for Roy Khan.
    i wasn't a fan of Tommy's until I saw this song live. I was blown away. He made it his own, and almost made me forget Bruce's version of the song.

    • @TimeandMonotony
      @TimeandMonotony 9 месяцев назад +3

      I feel the exact same way, I wasn't too impressed by Tommy-era Kamelot because he (and they) were trying and failing to be Khan, then I listened to him in Ayreon and was blown away, he's a fantastic singer when he's not constrained by standing in the shadow of arguably the greatest male metal vocalist in history. I also like him in Seventh Wonder, but he's become my favorite male Ayreon guest vocalist, The Theory of Everything especially was a masterpiece.

      Even the freakin back-vocals are done by world-class singers.

    • @Gabdube
      @Gabdube 2 года назад +7

      Yeah, those are legitimately some of the very best singers in the world, on their own. But here the backing vocals require such ridiculous talent and technique to be able to pull it off that even the best lead singers might not be enough. Marcela Bovio in particular is a world-class professional in her ability to modulate and adapt her own sound to complement whoever she is singing with. That's a level of talent even more rare than some world-class lead singer's. I don't think that Anneke, Maggy or even Floor could have been able to pull off the back-vocals on this show; they're outstanding Leads but don't quite have the level of adaptability and vocal resourcefulness to adaptively harmonize with _all_ the vastly different talents on that stage.

    It was fine but Star One's live version of 2003 was superior as a whole, in my opinion. Karevik did not take too many risks in that performance, even though he had the technical resources for doing so. That song requires from the singer some sort of psychological and musical involvement that is easily noticed by the listeners. I didn't quite felt it in that performance, which had some of it parts cut to fit in the show by It's length. But hey, I'm still amazed by the talents gathered there. That show was amazing!
