I’ve watched so many videos on failed 8g to 6g stretches. I just recently ordered and am currently wearing 7g glass plugs, and I’m hoping this makes the transition easier!
A tip I learned for getting plugs in after tapers is to just push it in after the taper. Don't push or mess with the taper at all, just let it fall through. When you do anything with the taper it creates a gap between the plug and the taper, and when theres a gap, your ear wants to close up right away, making it hard to get the plug in. If you switch to glass tapers, have something cushion it to keep from breaking, otherwise just let it fall.
i agree with you tip but honestly it's MUCH easier said than done :/ i find that i have to push the taper towards the tunnel that i'm trying to put in, or else it just falls out too quickly and game over
hey! i have a question; what age do you think is good to start stretching? i've gotten my ears pierced since i was a baby and i think i want to start stretching my ears but i'm 13 and my parents are strict. when i can though; what is the best size to start with? what is the best size everyone usually starts at? thanks!!

I definitely recommend switching to millimeters so you can do the in between sizes for the 2MM jump sizes, and after a 6G I was told to start waiting 2-3 months in between stretches to make sure your ear is healed internally:)
I am trying to study this subject as much as I can to not fuck up, but tbh, I will probably forget to stretch my ears and then be like: oh, so 4 months passed
Glad your 8-6 stretch was a lot easier than mine was. I was too scared of a blowout to push it too much. Now we are currently at the same size! Now currently stuck at 6g.
i’ve been stuck at 8 for almost a year now :( i’ve tried the taping method and everything.. i’m scared to force it through because it hurts and i don’t want a blow out
Going from a 8g to a 6g was the most difficult for me. From the beginning I've said that 6g is my goal size but I'm thinking 2g. When I stretched to the 6g yesterday, I understood why people said its the most difficult.
I definitely recommend keeping the taper in longer especially when you go up bigger sizes my left ear is at a 0g and my stubborn right ear is at a 2g but I was recommended by quite a lot of people to keep the taper in for a couple days I usually keep the taper in for 24-48 hours incase they get a little swollen and also since it’s a little heavy it makes it a lot easier to get the tunnel through after the taper has been in for that 24-48 hours ❤️
When I stretched from an 8g to a 6g it was fine but when I stretched to a 4g it hurt so badly that I just started taping from then. Eventually I got to a 00g with no more pain!
After healing my 8g stretch, I NEEDED to switch to the taping method. Otherwise I would’ve just busted me ears with the tapers. It took like 40 days with the taping, but then i could readily insert the 6g Tunnel right away :) that was 10 months ago, I’ve been at 2g now for 2 months and I’m terrified to do the 0g stretch 😂
I found using the solid stainless steel single flare plugs easier to stretch with. They have a tapered rounded end and have weight to them to help stretch a little faster. Not as cute as a tunnel but easier on the ears. Arctic Buffalo has them in 1mm increments.
If you ever browse reddit, you should check out /r/stretched for helpful tips on stretching especially as you get to larger sizes! They have a really extensive guide that was super helpful to me! I'm currently sitting at 8g, hopefully making it to 6g soon!
Specifically I'd recommend checking out "dead-stretching" instead of using a taper. Tapers can force your lobes when they're not really ready and may cause damage (or the "cat butthole" effect). www.reddit.com/r/Stretched/comments/aumpqv/earlobe_stretching_guide_2019_update/
6g was the worst for me 😭tried it a few weeks after going to 8 cuz I'm stupid and only waited a week or two in between each stretch and it wouldn't do it so I tried every now and then and it only stretched a week ago and hurt like a bitch after
Just went to 6g after waiting an extra week. A little stingy kinda like when I first got pierced. Anyways I was wondering what makes tapers so bad for your ears?
Does anyone else have more trouble getting the tunnel in than the taper sometimes? Even if you let the taper sit for a second? And not because there’s too much lube lol.
My two ears are different sizes because I was only going to do one at first, but thought it'd look stupid, so now both are being stretched. I had problems from 12g to 10g, but 10g to 8g was easier, smooth as butter. My right is now a 6g. What I did because the taper didn't want to move past a certain point...first I warmed up my ear. Then I cleaned it off with an alcohol swap (I have to use alcohol). Next I took Jojoba oil and massaged my lobe. I then put tons and tons of the oil on the taper and began pushing, When I met resistance, I left the taper in for 10 minutes, added more oil, then pushed a bit more. Met resistance, waited a bit more and then with the taper in, added more oil and massaged it into my lobe with the taper still in. I continued rubbing oil on the back and massaged the back of my ear, constantly. Oil, rub, oil, rub, push, oil, rub, etc. Finally it popped through. No major pain just discomfort. But I had to have my husband help insert the eyelet cause it just wouldn't go through the now 6g hole. It's still a bit sore, but not painful. But man, my hole felt used and abused.
I definitely should not have sized up but i saw you were doing what i was at an 8 to 6 so i decided to kinda force it and it hurts real bad so i might regret it
I started stretching on 1/28/23… and went from the standard piercing (18g?) to a 10g. It was probably the most painful (I was naive 😅) but then I got stretching butter and used it daily. A week later I went to an 8g with no problem or pain, and almost 2 weeks after that I just went to a 6g and it wasn’t bad either. Really wanting to go to 4 soon but I know I need to go at least a month before sizing up again 🙈
I've waited 3 months to stretch to 6g but it just won't go. it gets painful before I get more than half way up the taper before I have to stop. What can I do? Someone help pls
this was by far the worst stretch I've ever done I could get the tapers through but the plugs wouldn't slide through for me and it took FOREVER to get them through
No, it smart because the taper is just a temp to get your ear prepared for the jewelry. If you put the jewelry in right away especially with a big jump, it might make your ears bleed. So letting the ear get use to it for alittle is fine
Omg u stared stretching at October 2018 and I stared stretching at January and I’m at 0g right now and ur still at 6g...did I stretch my ears too fast??
I started stretching the same time you did, and I'm at a 2g. I gunked up😂 i ripped my left ear a bit, so now progress is going to be slower than if i would've just taken my time.
Jessi Miauu mine are at a 0g and I honestly didn’t follow a timeline. You’re supposed to wait a month in between stretches, but I went by how my ears felt and how much resistance they had to being stretched
It’s crazy to me because the bad stretch to me well for me was when I just recently did my 6 to 4g and I know the whole part with my right ear I think with feeding the tunnel in with the taper lord that took 10 minutes lol so now just to keep this 4g in for a while so my ears get use to this enough to where going to the 2 won’t be so bad.
Can I ask why you're stretching your first hole? How big are you going? I've seen some people stretch them so far that the lobe is paper thin, and looks ready to split.
Am I the only one where the 8g to 6g was the easiest stretch for me? Currently at a 00 (been here for years) and hoping to get to my new goal size soon!
Seems that we all have 1 ear that stretches easier than the other. Mine's my right ear. I sleep on my right side, so maybe that's why...idk.
