    Yeah I think I prefer your method Roland but that must be a terrible fail place on test

      Apparently it’s a test killer, easy to see why!! You were up early this morning! 😅

    Some nice pointers there 😎
    I like the 2nd version better as it you'll be exactly where you need to be. Whereas Version 3 as you said is more complicated and you have to timings right. Whatever you do, as long as your making sure its safe to move over you should be just fine. Safe travels everyone 😊😊

    I personally as experienced driver would do the final one but instead of going beside the car on the left actually stop besides the gap behind it with a slight squeeze on the gap just tight enough that the car following behind the car on the left is dettered from coming past. But if they insist they can come past and I can either go behind them if safe of go the wrong way and come back around. A lot of it is simply awareness to what's happening being a little cheeky but safe and if someone isn't going to let you do hands up and let them.

      Its all about confidence and ability!!

      @GetWheelDriving 100% truthfully both methods work. The main thing is awareness. The only reason I don't like the first method is because the risk of someone sneaking up on the blind side in the van if I was driving, but like you say you need the confidence to be able to change lanes after

    I'm an instructor in Watford as well, the issue with the dome is the "pizza exit". Essentially you use the dome like a 4 exit roundabout and "ignore" the pizza takeaway exit

    • @GetWheelDriving
      @GetWheelDriving  3 месяца назад +1

      Really? Do the examiners ignore that exit and not count it?

    • @stephendavey5113
      @stephendavey5113 3 месяца назад

      @GetWheelDriving you count the exit, but ignore the rule. So if you're coming off at the 4th exit, you'd normally position yourself and signal after the 3rd exit. But with the dome you position yourself after the 2nd exit (A41 north), delay your signal a moment (ignore the 3rd where watford pizza is) and then signal to exit to Garston :D so if you think of it as a normal 4 exit roundabout instead of 5, it's easier to use and understand. Unless you reeeeally want to go to that watford pizza takeaway :D

    • @stephendavey5113
      @stephendavey5113 3 месяца назад

      Examiners will always count the actual number junctions, but for teaching and understanding the easiest and safest way to use the dome roundabout, you're best of thinking of it as a normal 4 exit roundabout :D effectively the 3rd and 4th exits use the same exit lane/position, with a momentary pause in signals depending on if you want that pizza exit or the garston exit
      St Albans is a great area as well for big roundabouts with Park Street and London Colney. I spend 95% of my teaching time there. But I live and teach in Watford

      @@stephendavey5113 Got it! the main thing is you're teaching the learner driver to do it safely! They do like to make it hard for us by simply not marking out the junctions properly though. Thank you Sir for your great comments!!

    That's too complicated. I mean if you are going to be on this roundabout for the first time.

    • @GetWheelDriving
      @GetWheelDriving  3 месяца назад

      Which option? They both work. Most likely option 2 will be how it’s taught.

    • @mladenenglang
      @mladenenglang 3 месяца назад

      @@GetWheelDriving Option one would be the most complicated for me. As I would think I am doing it in a wrong way (changing line staying in-between both lanes before the traffic liight 🚦.

      @GetWheelDriving  3 месяца назад +1

      @@mladenenglang Agreed, use option 2 with good awareness of your left hand side!
