    Another great video Rob. I love the Hunter! (my first boat was a Hunter Horizon) - You'll have lots of "fun" fixing it up!! We are wintering afloat in Bradwell this winter. Currenlty have the cylinder head off for a top end service. Looking forward to catching up over a beer

      I’m considering bradwell….. 😂 more sailing time and flexibility on tides. Why was the head taken off? Have you got issues with the valves or head gasket? I still have loads to do on Evania. Need to do a vid on the heater matrix. Dreading what I’ll find in that thing 😂👌🏼 thanks for watching Ian and I’ll be over shortly and give you a nudge and let you know.

      @@EastCoastSailing_ Just time for a top end service as its 20 years old now. Had the head skimmed and ported. I've mirror polished the valves and inlet manifold throats. I hope to have it running again this weekend. Bradwell is GREAT! They are super helpful there and Dredge it EVERY year! The tidal range is also v good. We draw 1.5m and have a huge window for getting in and out.

    Great solo sail 👍 and well done getting into Dover - during the ebb I aim a long way up the western wall on the approach and “skid” round into the western entrance as the tide is so strong, especially at springs! 😊

      @@richardhall7822 Deadly round there, the closer I got to the wall the waves 🌊 got worse. I remember seeing the sea and sky 😂 never been so glad to get in. Rapid passage. Hope you got out today, weather was perfect today 👌

    Re- Fenders. AS a solo sailor I took the advice of Patrick Laine who suggested leaving them on and just bringing them on deck. He sailed all the way from France to Iceland as such, so I did a trip similar to yours (Walton to Studland Bay) and left them on for a whole month without detriment. Take no notice of those who say it's un-seaman like. It's so much easier to just give them a nudge over when needed.

      @@cotillion567 Hi and thanks for watching, I do leave fenders on deck if I’m doing smaller hops locally and the sea state is calm, I think it’s a bit risk leaving them on deck on long passages in choppy conditions, if the Genoa lines get interfered with if a fender rolls out over the toe rail and pins the line. You just need to do what’s quicker, easier and safer for you and your boat. Also if you need to get up front quickly and the walk way are obstructed. Just a few things to consider. I brought oversized fenders, they keep my boat and other boats safe from damaged especially on gusty landings. The larger fenders also make it much more comfortable in harbours with a swell when the boats banging against the pontoon. Best purchase yet although they are a pain to store 😎

      @@terrydickinson7252 Very lucky getting to live in Taiwan 🇹🇼 👌. Escaped the cold winter of the uk. Kent’s a great place to visit. Very geared up for sailing and being so close to France. I did a quick visit to Gravelines in France and departed from Ramsgate so make sure you subscribe and you will see plenty more of Kent. I also did a Thames Estuary war tour vid a while ago seeing all the abandoned structures in the river Medway 👌🏼😎 thanks for watching

    Just discovered your vlog. As a sailer myself sailing from Holland I would like to see some trip planning. Why are you leaving at what time and and what time do you need to arrive. What are the obstakels alonge the route. The Challengers you have to handle. Thx in advance

      @@guyten1968 Hi Guy, glad you have found the channel. I will include passage planning in future videos. I did show a lot of theory in the episodes to the Channel Islands journey, I included all the tidal flows and how they could be used to help speed up your journey. Just finishing off the return journey from France which is focusing on the French customs and paperwork aspects. If you have any specific questions about a route your planning on doing drop me a message and I’ll answer it 👌🏼⛵️🇬🇧🌊🫡🔥

    You know those bolts are loose?

    • @EastCoastSailing_
      @EastCoastSailing_  2 месяца назад

      @@mickrobinson8150 Hi, you have to loosen the drive shaft plate bolts to check the drive shaft alignment. If the bolts are torqued then you wouldn’t be able to see if the connecting plates to the engine are parallel / flush. You need to be able to get a feeler gauge between the mounting plates to see if there are uneven gaps. Otherwise the surfaces are clamped together by the bolts. The vibration occurs when the shaft alignment is out which bends / stresses the driveshaft which creates a vibration. All the connecting plate bolts are torqued after the shaft alignment is done. I’m doing a vid soon on shaft alignment as there’s not many decent videos on RUclips! Hope it helps.

      @EastCoastSailing_  3 месяца назад

      @@gatecrasher1970 Hi, if you mean in the early part in the video, where the voice isn’t syncing to video, had a small issue with a delay. I tried to match it up better but unfortunately couldn’t get it spot on. Was half a frame out. Unfortunately as this footage was taken 3-4 months ago I wouldn’t notice the issue until I edit. Hopefully it’s a 1 off issue caused by the wireless microphone 🤞😎 thanks for watching
