SAP secondaries should've been the Italian BB mainstay if Napoli and the GV* are anything to go by. If that was done with the main battery being HE/AP like normal BB's they might actually be less frustrating to play. Like I want to love the Italian BB line, but the gun accuracy (Sigma) just makes it feel bad to play, not to mention feeling helpless against DD's due to lack of pen from secondaries and them only eating 10% of AP/SAP damage from the main guns. *Edit: I meant the Giuseppe Verdi.

Great Vid PQ, but imo this ship showcases WGs worst tendencies.. instead of changing the existing Italian tech tree BB to reflect player feedback they instead make a copy pasta with all the needed upgrades. Only upside is at least they aren't selling it for actual money >.>. That being said, I'm sure they will do that in the future so stand by!
Food for thought. How about introducing two alternate hulls on the TT Italian BBs, one with HE guns and SAP secs, and one with HE secs, and SAP guns. People can choose what they want to equip and build around it.
You might remember, but this isn't the first Italian BB with SAP secondaries. The Guiseppe Verdi (Marco Polo sister ship) also has the combo of AP/HE (406s) main guns and SAP secondaries. It works very well and it's a lot of fun, but somehow I always went back to the German secondary ships... Update: The secondaries DPM on a 100m² area are better than the secondaries from the Sicilia. So is the Sicilia worth the grind just to get an italian secondary BB? Your choice...

But the smoke/secondary tactic is quite amusing, but you need to have the spotter plane up, so you can't get too close to the enemy or it gets shot down. And then you dont see anything, except other spot for you

Hey PQ - My Research Bureau strategy is this: 1. Reset Harugumo line. 2. Use Free XP to research up to Akizuki. 3. Grind Akizuki & Kitikazi. 4. Research Harugumo but don’t buy it. 5. Repeat…. I think I got up to 20x stacked on Harugumo, Minekaze, Hatsuharu, and Shiratsuyu. Not buying (and then selling at 50% loss) those four ships probably saved me about 15 million credits per reset so total savings of almost 300 million credits over time…. Note: Researching w/ Free XP the whole line is about 650k Free XP, it can drain fast!. Just Researching all but the Akizuki and Kitikazi (and grinding them) only costs about 420 Free XP…. My math may be a little off but this seems to be a good balance between Free XP & Credit drain. Added bonus is the Aki & Kiti are a blast to play…. Any thoughts?

Just heard about the haru RP farm. Important thing to say Is there is no need to purchase the ship with credits. Just research and move on untill you want to collect the RP.
Talking about Colombo, the other day I had a fun game where I went and demolished a flank with AP. Killed a CV, two battleships and a cruiser before dying to everyone else. We ended up winning
Water cooling.. my I7 7700K running at 4.6 is now 8 years old. That's why water cooling. And, I'm disabled so it runs 16-18 hours a day... every day! I do all kinds of gaming and 4K editing on this machine!
Main secondaries pen 36mm... feel like they missed an opportunity to have all secondaries pen 40mm to make it more effective against cruisers like the petro... after all this presents like a cruiser killer (Italy's version of Mecklenberg)... reload and accuracy on the secondaries appears very ordinary so it feels like they could have given it a bit more pen to compensate. This ship has plenty going for it, I am not anti it, just feels like if they added 1 more slight buff to it they could get a good take up if they sell it for dubs as an early access offer (buff secondaries -> either pen, range, accuracy or survivability, if they just buffed 1 they could make real money off this).
So in game 2, when you pushed the Shima at the start did you know your Castilla would follow and hydro it or were you planning to proxy spot? :p It can be useful to pop your spotter when smoke is up to actually spot nearby ships rather than to extend range. Would have helped with that surprising Asashio in game 1 too. If you have a DD with poor AA it should be possible to bully them out of caps with smoke and secondary fire, assuming no radar.
It`s just that Colombo and Sicilia are very straught battleships they hate taking things from the back. Same goes for Napoli, by the way. And Lauria double downs on this with citadel exposed through stern. This Shellcatchers are a big thing.
The hitting dpm from the secondaries is between the Luisitania and the Bungo but without any firechance. It has weak armor and underwhelming guns and it's slow af. So it's nothing for me.
Have fun aircooling a Intel 12-13th gen or Ryzen 9 7000 series under full load, you NEED a 360 AIO to keep that under control or you'll easly thermal throttle.
I don't know if they changed it but I have this ship and it sucks as a secondary ship, the main guns are so inaccurate now that you will miss 12-14 of your 16 shots even inside 6km.

I grinded for my Standards for so long sooo many free XP and still cant really get the Ohio xD I thought about getting The Illinois, the more Cruiser style Gameplay suits me also more I think, because i play a lot Cruiser and Gunboat DD
People say Columbo was balanced around Deadeye, but I don't agree. WG just made a bad line. If Columbo was really balanced around Deadeye there should have been a general BB accuracy nerf at the same time because it would be stupid to balance only ONE BB line around Deadeye and a ITA BB buff on Deadeye's removal. Rather, WG overestimated how useful SAP and Smoke were and balanced around that overestimation.
With this ship coming out soon, is an updated RB tier list on the way? I'm one grind through away from getting enough for a second RB ship and was thinking Illinois for a unique playstyle, but I do love me some secondary ships!
For additional consideration, some of the most fun I've had recently has been in Illinois. I play her, div mate plays Siegfried. I'm a cruiser that won't die and he's a BB that won't miss. But even if you don't have a buddy, you can role play a schlieffen and spit out shells and have decent fun. Just note that you won't be as useful or as tanky as even Ruprecht is, so don't expect as many wins.
Any recommendations on what tech tree dd should I research? I was thinking about the French tree cause they seem fun to play but dunno what the best tech tree is tbh
Just a notice here, the so called buff the colombo is getting is just a return of its original specs before they nerfed its sigma, rudder shift and firing angles for main turrets 3 and 4
Probably a good amount more, Haru and shima are straight up the cheapest lines in the game XP wise, if your using fxp theres no reason to not do those lines
Giuseppi Verdi has basically identical secondaries and arguably better guns at a full tier lower at the cost of 20k HP. Giuseppi is stealthier, faster, and more maneuverable as well. Putting this ship out for Research Bureau points is heavily taking the piss out of this community.
Very unimpressed with this ship. The only time where the secondaries had any significant impact were against the suicidal Asashio. Secondaries have less DPM than Ohio and don't set fires to boot. Less effective DPM than the T9 Giuseppe Verdi in fact. Many salvoes of against angled ships and unfortunate broadside overpen salvoes that would have been much better with SAP. Not much point in removing the SAP of the AP is still hampered by sigma. Would have been much more interesting had they kept Colombo's reload but substantially increased sigma. As it stands Sicilia just looks like an uptiered take on the Verdi, which even has the long smoke gimmick to boot. I'm much more interested in Colombo itself once it gets the small buff to sigma and the massive rudder shift and firing angle buffs.

Because for some reason they made the a regilo secondaries on lauria reload for 10.1 seconds so if they add them here they have to justify the reload time
I don't feel like this ship should be RB, other than the secondary ( i understand that the smoke has a longer duration on this one, but the italian line also have the smoke) there is nothing super special on this one. Usually RB ships do have something that is reeeally unique to them for their class/nation, but sicilia don't feel like that. I would not mind as coal, but for RB? not really.

13:35 smoke puff of the Sicilia should be much bigger than Columbo rather than smaller. Puff duration is also longer than Columbo than shorter.

the Verdi doesn't have improved secondary dispersion if I remember correctly. It turned out underwhelming to a lot of people.

On legends all the italian BBs get SAP secondaries and Lepanto is one of the best preforming BBs in game and Colombo is hella strong too

This is what the Italian BB line should have been. They could have kept the lower calibre IT secondaries but improved parameters

Illinois is great fun, but you're definitely a cruiser. Play it like Riga or petro and you'll do great, play it like a bb and it hurts

Wait, you get a multiplier for the research points? If you collect the points, does it stay? Is there a limit?
upon resetting it gives you the points. you need to the play the ship to collect them, the 2x just means you get double the points than ususal.
Those secondary turrets give me enormous OCD
