I played against this ship on Two Brothers, it was bonkers. The guy just went through mid and then sat there in smoke setting people on fire. When someone tried to push to take him out he just spat torps out of his bow...
He basically won the game for the enemy team.

I kinda understand why- there's a reason the Kitakami spent nearly a decade in development hell; back in the beta her original configuration was utterly toxic for the game- she could roll onto a flank undetected and drop 2-3 DDs worth of torpedoes every 2min or so.

Yeah, Kitakami isn't just the most expensive Cruiser (/ship) ever, but imo also the worst lmao

The fact alone, that its a Kuma hull that relies on torpedoes while everyone got a hydro these day, kills it for me.
You litteraly gotta wait over 4 min for all your torps to load, if you want to trop that massive 40 torps salvo. Jinan can do that, granded having to turn more often, with one reloadbooster.
Keep in mind, most games don't last longer than 12 min nowadays.
Wargaming finally found a ship the old whales and old players will throw all their resources at to get, the Kitakami. Hopefully they watch the videos on it and realize it really isn't worth it before they do. I've seen these kind of events as a way to clean up the economy more then any interest in something good for the players.

Still worse than Napoli, and not worth its price. There is a lot of good tier IX-X premiums.

It's a pocket King George with better AP. That's pretty good, as I'm almost always happy to be uptiered in KGV
Loved my KGV, a lot of people underrate it or underestimate it in randoms and die for that.

This one reminds me PQ is a BB main......He look so much more comfortable in playing Defense than Kitakami.
yeh, the kitakami needs to be played more like the shimakazi, just stay back as much as you can and spam torps to try and push campers off the back sides of islands.

It'd would be nice to have this ship, but the only super cruiser I want to keep playing is Stalingrad. Solid guns, solid shells, soul crushing AP, solid armour, decent AA, Kutzentsov, good speed. It has everything one can ask for except concealment
Skipping Kita was probably always the main reason for the event. Lure people in for ridiculous grinds that steals your time. It will never be worth the time. Games should be enjoyment, not second jobs that you dont get paid for.
You should play the T7 Italian cruiser too. That thing is surprisingly strong. Long range SAP with super stealthy ship, 13.5 km torps and an almost nonexistent smoke firing penalty. The gun layout isn't the best, but the firing angles forward are really good and the back turret is a 360 turret.
The less bbs, the better, I'm hyped to use it in CBs & try flank in it with the DM pen angles it has, people talk about the HE even tho it has AP designed to delete most cruisers.
Gonna see how the resources break down for this one, hopefully I’ll pick her up looks fun, the Nelson designs are generally very fun to play imo, ugly but fun
WG needs to add +100% reload time on all guns and consumables if you touch the border. It's such jank

Ya, after I watched half or more of your review of “Kitakami” I was like no way is it worth that many resources. I don’t have that much laying around even though I’ve been playing since the closed beta. I was one of the founders. I’ve been playing less and less since the years went on. Mostly since the submarines being added to the game I can only stand it so much each game. I’ve been playing them too. If you know what you’re doing you’re nigh invincible almost. Last day I played I had to hunt down a Gato with my Napoli because I was the only one left after he took down two BB’s with his regular torpedoes. He nearly took me out if it wasn’t for the timer ending. He got off his torpedoes before I took him out; the torpedoes were on their way to me just before the game timer ended. I had to stay in the cap while he encircled me round and round. Even though he had no chance of winning it still annoyed me I couldn’t do more because in order to see him I had to be close enough to him to get shotgunned. To be honest, they should have given all submarines the ability to hunt down each other, at least then it would balance it out a bit. If I thought the game wasn’t fun anymore I would have quit a while ago. There is still stuff to enjoy at least for now. I’ll probably try and reach the defense if I can get there. It’s sounds unique, same with the new dockyard ship. I hope they bring back the blimp mode back soon as separate. It will be missed.
Imagine how the ship going sailors felt in WW2....
I can't wait for this. This will be the British answer to my favorite ship, the Napoli.
I was so happy that I made the cut for the Defense for the last thing I did on the 9th. It is most definitely a fun ship to have.

Would you recommend skills/equipment to decrease turret traverse time?
These guns are the same as Duke of York guns but with a faster reload, so pretty much equivalent pen to Alaska as well, the improved pen angles make such a difference

For how the torps and the guns are, it looks like a baby st.vincent to me.

Decent ship, but waaay to expensive. I'm gonna stick to my Illinois crazy DPM, eventho the latter lacks hydro, smoke and all this fancy consumables.

The first time I encountered the Defence, I citadelled the hell out of it in my Brest.
He must have been playing it really bad; with improved pen angles and torps, the Defence should have beaten you.

I went in this event ready farm for kitakaami. After getting Defence and looking at kitakami again. I am content with mini St. Vincent. Not even gonna bother doing 9+ tech three resets lol

Wargaming is out of its mind. No cruiser has ever been built with 356mm guns. Those are battleship guns, so the Defence is actually a BB with weak armor, not a cruiser.
They really need to separate the light cruiser and heavy cruiser/super heavy cruisers because you get ships like these in ranked and absolutely nothing with smaller caliber to counter dds

I've got the resources to get Kita. Was even thinking about it because wth, why not? But now, after seeing your review of her and a few others, nah, not going to be worth it. Defence on the other hand. 2nd person I've watch play her and 2nd person that says she's a really good ship. So I'm at least going to get the Defence. She looks a blast to play.

@@PrintScreen. Good luck with that. Rare ships are only really obtainable via Santa Gifts when you literally have every single non-rare Tier IX and below ship on the list. I've played since closed beta and I have gotten a single ship off of the rare list, HMS Belfast, two or three Christmasses ago.

Good video, I wish you had gone into more detail on how many resources it´s gonna take to get it. I was going to ignore this event for the Kitakami, but I might go after this one if the cost isn´t too insane.

Grind RB, if you got 1 mil free exp +/- & blue boosts, grind the harugumo line, took me 4 weeks to get all I need. You got nearly 2 months still.

@@Alex-hy9cw I had 1.4mil free xp saved , 306 blue xp & around 200 blue free xp bonuses , I have reset x2 haru , 11 resets on haru , 1 republique , 1 shima & 1 schliefie rest on haru I done that when x2 hit and I was finnish 16th November , all because Halloween event was on EZ xp .

how exactly does fire chance work? cuz you're hitting like 5-6 shells each with 40% fire chance? you'd have to get insanely unlucky not to get at least 1 fire from a salvo like that right?
You have to take into account that all ships have inate fire resistance, you cant light fires while damage con is active, and you can only light 1 fire per area of the ship you hit. So you could fire 16 shells with 100% fire chance, but if they all hit the bow, youll only get 1 fire.
T10 ships have a built in 50% fire chance reduction, and that's before even considering upgrades.

meanwhile, siegfried has 26 second reload and a worse dispersion and turret angles with the same number of (admittedly bigger) guns.
sieg also has stealth secondaries and it still has BC dispersion at a tier lower. The closer comparison would be sevastopol.
Siegfried has the same cruiser dispersion. The Siegfried is also substantially tankier and has drastically more penetration and range.

it will cost RB points, coal or free xp, so it isnt pay to win, just for people who have been collecting resources for a long time.

Literally the only thing Kitakami has over Jinan at this point is 20km torps, Jinan is just straight up better.
So we have battleships like Illinois with 203 mm guns and cruisers like Defence having 356 mm gun caliber. Can only imagine how bad it is now for new players not to get confused with all this.
Well you already had Cruisers with 305mm guns and two even with 380mm (Siegfried and Sebastopol)
It feels so shitty to wait for so long for this ship to come out only to have the stuff it at the end of stuff you dont want only to jack up the price. Oh and dont forget the fomo from releasing it in pseudo early access.

It is a common game slang referring to using techniques not explicitly intended by the developers but not against the rules to gain an advantage.

@@EvoraGT430 I am just saying for Pen angles and you can't expect tier 7 BB to be compare to BC of tier X and Defence is nothing but a trap instead I would play a siegfried with 15 inch gun and overmatch the bows and sterns of many crusiers

TBH if it would be relased as a coal/RB points, Defence is not as OP as it looks at first glance.
That depends entirely on how much of these resources you have. There are long term players who have more steel, RB points and coal than they can ever use, they already have everything for those resources and they get new releases for those resources instantly. I can get all of these with no problem at all, though I am more in the be picky category as I don't have all the steel/coal/RB ships by any stretch of the imagination.
Exactly. The Defence looks fun, however I don't think it's worth burning through a big chunk of my coal to get.

I wish I could still enjoy this game but I just can't. I don't even know who the target audience is but I know it certainly ain't me. Been playing since CBT before they had even finished either of USA or IJN ship lines. Quit when they changed CVs. Came back several times to check it out, play for a dozen matches get frustrated and delete the game again.
Just don't play Randoms; they are an utter shit-show, particularly at higher tiers. Clan-battles, Ranked, Brawls, Asymmetric, Convoy, Airship, Operations and hell even the occasional Co-op are so much more enjoyable. Or play lower-tier Randoms, where you can seal-club for days.
Meh. Even defence is absolutely outrageus, pricewise. Ive sunk my share of real money into this game, but this is way beoynd insanity. I even completed the orgiginal puerto rico grind, but nope. This is a hard pass.
It will eventually be put into the game normally but not until like a year or two have passed so yeah that is also... something. It might need buffs by then, who knows.

If you can get 760k coal or 68k steel during this snowflake season it's doable. If you want to use real money it'll be around $900.00 USD. Kitakami will cost $1800.00.
@@larssj02 If it's for coal I highly doubt it'll be the most expensive coal ship. Can't see it being the most expensive in steel or research points either but probably up there still.

Its not that expensive i mean, 550k coal, 11k steel and like 7k RBP and you can get all 3 ships. Its not that hard to get.
