  • Our next Live Stream will be Sunday, December 19th @ 7:30 pm eastern time. The main topic will be the early roads of Kentucky during the 18th-century. Not only will we share the routes and the destinations within Kentucky, but we will also share the various routes leading into Kentucky from other colonies. Such as Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Georgia. Six separate routes will be shared during the stream with details from point A to point B. Join the live conversation and let's discuss what it really meant to travel during this period.
Don't miss out on the other Kentucky materials shared by Piedmont Trails. To see these other formats, visit

I was always told of ancestors out of Kentucky which is true but were there later than 18th century. At first I was a little disappointed but now find my Eastern Tennessee roots fascinating

Our Figg line came from Berkeley County WV to Hardin County KY around 1800-1803. Any info on their probable route of travel or maybe even who they went with.

Hi Thomas, I would encourage you to look further into the Sandy River Trail. This was originally a military route extending from the WV area into eastern KY during the 18th-century. Various new routes were developed from this historic trail into the early 1800s.

The dark, bloody ground.. Harrodsburg and Poage family. How about that drinking water source at the bottom of the old Fort walls. Wonder anyone survived. The huge Osage Orange tree..
